Apr 23: started a few more 12 days after first round. Starting these directly in soil in peat pots after soaking seeds for 2-3 days at 25 C in the dark.
Previous round I was using starter plugs after soaking seeds until they sprouted tails which doesn’t work with the plugs. The roots don’t penetrate the plug properly and get pushed out instead. Plugs are great but don’t soak seeds that long first. Still learning.
May 12: warm enough to be outside all day. First foliar with Extreme Blend.
Plant seems better with cooler temperatures than others…looking good so far.
May 14: spotted a bald eagle hunting mice near the grow area. Old iPhone still managed a few pics.
May 29: plants are looking good and are doing well with the cool weather.
June 1: perfect spring weather and all plants doing well. 👍. Actually, it was colder last night than I thought at only +1 C.
June 27: looking really good.
July 1: P deficiency showing up on most mature plants so put some malted barley as a top dressing (awesome nutrient source) and foliar with a P rich solution. Growing at about an inch per day.
July 3: one of my favourite strains this year. Good grower that isn’t too fazed by colder weather.
July 8: added Power Bloom and a handful of malted barley as a top dressing.
These are very beautiful plants and definitely one of my favourites this year. Good cold tolerance when young but maybe a bit slow flowering compared to some other options. Breeder says 10 weeks flowering which is too long for outdoor here normally, but by forcing it in July it should finish by the end of September which is about as late as possible here.
July 31: added second round of Power Bloom and malt as top dressing. Started using soluble wood ash as K source. See today’s Gorilla Gelato diary entry for details.
Aug 21: not sure if these are re-vegging, or too much N during flower or what but the buds have stretched a bit in the last two days.
Aug 22: stretching badly due to re-vegging. Fuck. It might work out but these need to get flowering again. I have a likely explanation, but I need to consider it further.
Sep 17: these plants don’t seem to be doing much. They seem to have stalled and/or re-vegged after being flowered because of the warm weather and still long sunlight hours. Weather is still nice enough so these might still work out.
Sep 25: seems like there’s not much happening with these plants. Flowering continues but buds aren’t thickening up very much. The do seem a bit whiter lately so the trichomes are developing.
Moved these to a different spot in the grow area to get more early afternoon sun.
These re-vegged and the tops of the colas were all stretchy and distended. Took a round of 170 g wet of the tops so the plants focus on producing buds and not more vegetative growth.
Oct 14: took a big round of 785 g wet for total of 955 g wet.
Pollination with Okanagan Grape produced lots of seeds and pollination with Blue City Diesel produced about 15 seeds. Both those crosses should be quite interesting and the OK Grape cross in particular should be faster flowering.
Oct 17: round of 1088 g wet for total of 2,043 g wet so far.
I had high hopes for this strain but it was a bit disappointing. Strong grower initially in the cool and wet spring, but the bud formation wasn’t great due to the re-vegging. Flowering was too slow to be practical here.
These started strong despite cool and wet spring weather but the bud formation wasn’t great. The plants re-vegged after being force flowered starting on July 9 because of the warm weather and the still long sunlight hours at the time. Unfortunately the strength of UV light drops quickly this far North after mid-August and the trichomes didn’t form as well as they could have. Not a bad grow, but the bud quality was kind of poor and the final mass wasn’t where it could/should be.
I have this exact same strain and Im kinda annoyed by how slow things are going.
Can you check my diary and give your opinion? Im also in doubt about when to top to mainline the plants
