Late to the party on documenting this grow. I used to be very OCD about pics and updates on my discord groups, but a close call had me freaked and I needed to take a step back.
Let's talk about Seedsman Seed's Blue Dream...Quite simply, it's been a dream to grow. 10 weeks ago, I started 3 Seedsman Seeds Feminized Blue Dream seeds directly in buffered coco coir with perlite and some Azomite. No presoak, no paper towel. All 3 seeds popped within 36 hours and we were off to the races. Took the plants to 7 nodes and topped 2 of them down to the 3rd node, The 3rd one, I don't know why, but I left the #1 node and went with 3 pairs of main branches. I dipped the pruned tops in some rooting agent and planted a total of 8 clones from the tops. All but one rooted so we had 7 clones in a separate tent that are 27 days apart. The 3 clones are doing well at 44 days old. I kept 3 and had to find a home for their sisters.
I did extensive LST, manifolding, and some super cropping. Installed a 4"x4" nylon trellis net and trained until I had a nice flat canopy. I pruned the lowest 3rd of the plants and let them go for a few weeks, training under the net, periodically pruning the HUMUNGOUS fan leaves(I had some that were bigger than my face at least 12" across), and feeding pretty much daily. I've been really chasing the VPD this grow and the combination of a proper feeding schedule, excellent lighting, managing my temps/humidity, and just being better informed is really paying off. This is the first time growing photo periods and it's been a fun ride so far. I mean, I had no idea that my pH was supposed to be closer to 6, than 6.5 and maybe 5.8 was just about perfect?
This brings us to day 71 from sprout and 14 days since I flipped to 12/12. I have been selectively pruning big fan leaves every few days. There is just so much vegetation that if I tried to do it once a week, it would take hours. I find that spending 30 minutes doing it every 2-3 days is better than 3 hours once a week. Between the 2 tents, defoliations happen about 4-5 days per week. The plants are doing amazing and they are really obviously budding out. It's very early to tell, but I suspect the yield is going to be at least double my best per plant weight. Current record for me is just under 3oz. from a single Quad Grape Autoflower from BIF Beans.
All-in-all, I am very happy with the progress to date.
@Kynareth, Well, thank you. It's been a huge confidence boost to see them do so well. I'm really hoping these flower as aggressively as they vegged...😀
