This is my "plan B" Bruce Banner Auto seed. The original seed took almost a week to break the surface so I started a second seed that broke the surface in 2 days. The original seed did not produce a true leaf a week after breaking the surface but the secondary started growing true leaves after a few days out of the soil. I scrapped the original seed and transplanted the backup seed into the pot. The grow is 7 days behind because of this. This is the plan B seed after a week under the lights. It has started popping out it's second set of true leaves.
I moved the soil from it's original 3 gal fabric pot to a 5 gal fabric pot. I compared pictures and harvest weights of other growers in 3 gal compared to 5 gal pots and I would rather have too much medium than not enough.
My garden is suffering from fungus gnats from my cuccumber seedlings. I have ground up some mosquito dunks and sprinkled it on the soil and also watering with a bucked with half a mosquito dunk soaking it it. The gnat population is dwindling.
Week 2. Reached third inter node. Started low stress training. Might be a week early but figured I would get a jump start. This little guy is super vigorous.
Plant is growing strong. Have the top pulled over for LST this week. I had to remove a leaf that was shading all of the nodes below it. I kept moving it out of the way and it kept bouncing back into place. Fungus gnats are driving me crazy. Using ground up mosquito dunks on the soil and mosquito dunks in the water they are still active. I even tried knocking down the adult population with Safer's "End All" but the population keeps rebounding.
The plant is very bushy with broader leaves than other plants that I have grown. I guess it is the indica coming through in the genetics.
Did more LST training this week. Pulled lower branches out to get some light and tied them down so all branches are roughly equal to the main stem. 5 main growth tips and 3 more smaller ones all at the same level.
This is a very bushy plant. I will probably have to do a little defoliation next week. I had to remove one major fan leaf from the top since it was blocking the 3 smaller growth tips and couldn't tuck it out of the way.
I whacked the soil surface with a quick spray of raid last week to knock down the fungus gnat adult population. They were driving me nuts.... crawling all over the soil. Since adults can live 4 weeks and the mosquito dunks only deal with lava, I didn't want to deal my house full of gnats for the next month. The infestation was really bad. Since knocking down the adults, I haven't seen a single gnat all week.
This strain is stinky. This is the first pot plant I've grown that smells like a pot plant in the veg stage. While tying down for LST my wife mentioned that she could smell the plant when she was in the other room. As soon as this goes into flower I will have to put this into my tent and turn on the carbon filter. She is going to be stinky.
Added a top dress of 50%/50% of 444 all purpose and 284 Bloom Gaia Green. 2 table spoons per gallon. Mixed into the top inch of potting soil and watered in with mosquito dunk water. Gave a deep watering till slight run off. Following the directions of Matt from Mr Canuck's Grow on youtube for the timing of the top dressing. WIll top dress again in another 5 weeks (or 5 weeks into flower which ever comes first)
I accidentally topped the plant while adjusting the low stress training ties. I bent the tip of the main stem too far down and snapped off 4 inches of the top/main stem. Crap. I am sure this will bite me come harvest time since it is going to take time for the plant to heal and redirect it's energy to new branches. This is a delay I don't want on an auto flower since I can't keep it in veg to heal.
The plant is showing pistols and indicating that it is transitioning from veg to flower.
I trimmed a few of the lower fan leaves since they are not receiving any direct light and not contributing to the plant much. Also adds to the air flow under the plant.
I have the plant spread out as wide as I can so each growth tip has it's own little space in the canopy. There are 8 growth tips. There will be two more little ones beside where the main top broke but I am not sure they will amount to much. The canopy is fairly even as far as height.
The plant seems to heal from the broken main branch. With training she is at 13 inches tall now with the training keeping the canopy all at the same relative height.
It has been starting to flower this whole week. When looking at other grow logs this seems to be consistent with other BB auto. 12-15 week life cycle from seed to harvest.
Plant is now taking 1 gal per week water. I will have to be more diligent with the watering. The plant was starting to wilt before I added 1 gallon of water with minimal run off.
Distance to the light has moved from 18 down to 12 inches due to growth. I will keep monitoring the light height and adjust to keep it at 12 inches.
Moved the plant to the 2.3x2.3x5 tent. It is setup with carbon filter and 6 inch fan for air extraction. Changed light schedule to 20/4 now that the light is enclosed. Light seems much more intense in an enclosed space with reflective walls. Temperature is 78f in the tent. about 5 degrees above air temp outside the tent.
Buds are continuing to grow. THe plant is getting very bushy. Removed some of the lower fan leaves that were not getting light. Fungus gnats are back with a vengence... dang annoying litter buggers.
Gave it a little Hydro nutes at half strength to try to balance out the deficiencies.
Buds are packing on weight. Older fan leafs are starting to fade to yellow. Added a little more 1/2 strength hydro nutes since it should still have 3-5 weeks left in bloom. Want to make sure it's well fed. Will start to flush around week 11.
Plant is pulling nutrients from fan leaves. This thing is closer to done than I expected. I took a look with a microscope and the tricomes are getting clowdy with a few amber. I have been giving it General Hydropoinics Floro in the bloom configuration. I think I will stop and let the plant finish out. Buds are looking good.
Took some of the dead leaves off. The pictures are prior to me doing the clean up.
This plant is super stinky. Not Skunk Weed stinky but still way more than the Blue Dream I have grown before.
Tricomes are getting cloudy. Amber is coming in near the top. Getting close to done.
The plant is pulling color out of the older fan leaves. Only water for the next week. Will evaluate harvesting next week.
Last week under the lights. Next weekend she gets harvested. Only water from now until next Sunday. The plant is already depleting from the older fan leaves. She is a stinky girl. Every time I open the tent.... the whole house smells
The plant is harvested, wet trimmed, and hung up to dry. I have 3.5oz for wet weight because that is what I estimate the dry weight to be. I will update the log in 7-10 days after it is dried and taken off the stem.
Finished dry weight was 4.3 oz. Great harvest for such a short plant.
I was very happy with the bud density. Was very tight structured bud. Trimmed nice and close so it almost looks like dispensery quality
