Germination

This will be my first attempt at germinating a seed to test growing in the colder outdoor conditions of my area. I know theres drawbacks to growing in such conditions but am on a research mission so interested in any results to work with going forward. Ill be be soaking in water firstly following up with a short period in paper towel then finishing germination in a growpod courtesy of 'love that leaf' based in New Zealand. 1/5/22 Update: After around 20hrs my Big Bud seed sunk in the glass of water and didnt take many more hours to sprout the radical think it was 6-8 hrs later actually. I then transferred to paper towel method and placed in a hot water cupboard and less than 12 hrs later our young ladies radical sprouted to just under 1cm. Very happy with the genetics of this seed so far, really promising. 3/5/22 update: Our little ones finally off the ground, here’s some final pics post sprout prior to the first official day of Vege. LESSSSHH GOOOO!…

5/5/22 Day 1 Vege: Hitting the ground running this week with this seed, about 30hrs after it popped i found it had its 1st set of shiny new true leaves. Ill be continuing in the GrowPod until the tap root builds up in the jiffy abit more so i know its got a nice strong base prior to potting in some Living Soil that ive been building for the last 2-3months. Along with using a Living Soil Mix ill also be inoculating the roots with Mycorrhizal Fungi native to New Zealand from Seacliff Organics & using water/fermented comfrey solution (ph corrected to 18-20 degrees celcius) for the entire course of the grow to get the best natural results possible without compromising potential quality. 6/5/22 Day 2 Vege: No real.. attention needed today my lil 1 gained 1cm in height and was given a daily soak in water drained off & tucked back inside the grow pod. On the other hand the tap root has breached the bottom of the jiffy in a couple spots so id say a couple more days then transfer to its forever home for the rest of the grow, it’ll be all downhill from there. Cant complain about its progress very happy for the Seeds i received from Fast Buds will be looking at getting more soon. 7/5/22 Day 3 Vege: same S*#t different day, more great growth coming through so happy and im getting the root build up i was looking for so at this rate will look at potting this coming monday and start the next vege week with a bang. 09/5/22: Day 4&5 vege bring more good development all round and roots are enough to my liking that ill be potting into my living soil 2moro morn. Our big girls all grown up😢 10/05/22 Day 6 Vege: felt like a proud father sending my kid to her first day in her big girl pot lol looking forward to her progress from here 11/05/22 Day 7 Vege: nothing new to report

13/05/22 I went a day over with week 1 but only because I technically started at night that day. Either way progress is good no signs of rejection to the soil mix so that’s promising while being on a 20/1 cycle and we should see abit more action from the plant once the Myco have fully taken hold. 18/05/22 Ive been offsite for a few days sorting sone family issues but otherwise had no issues come up with my plant over that time. The temp had a massive drop but i had a small dome over top while i was gone and managed to keep the frost damage down minor slowing of growth but not dead. 20/05/22 The cold lately has presented its own difficulties as I anticipated but the plant really has taken it in its stride. The physical slowdown is minor but i did expect alil bit more growth after 2 weeks either way happy because shes not dead in this cold

hey there Plan1 , my idea is that it's too many woodchips and too hot a supersoil, usually you want to mix your supersoil with unamended soil first to get it right, then add woodchips in layers, being extra careful not to go over the 50% mark. That's because geting that close means you're actually growing in soiless not soil , meaning you do need to supplement with calmag despite your best efforts. Try epsom salts as a spray for example if you dont want to go the calmag route. everything else looks fine to me growmie, just a bit of magnesium deficiency as the plant needs it more with such a heavy light schedule. Hope this helps growmie ! 🚀
