Grow Questions

It's been about 5 weeks from germination. I think we're ready to switch to flowering. I'm just not certain on how to go about it. Do I gradually reduce 18/6 of the veg light down to 12/12 (over a week?) then pop in the flower bulb? Or do I just make a hard switch?

Hey Know2funk, Like our fellow growers said: Make the hard switch to 12/12, they will stretch for another 1-2weeks while going into flowering. You don't want to go down from 18 to 12hours slowly which will take unnecessary time. I like to give them some root booster for the last time while going into this stage, Don't forget to change your timers on your fans as well or give it a little breez while being in nightmode ( i personly like to give them some rest from the wind while ''sleeping'') Good luck growing :)

I had to re-net/re-scrog the plants. We're about 10 days into flowering. And some plants are really getting tall. We're afraid we'll run out of space in the grow tent. Can I keep stressing them and tying them down during flowering? When should I stop stressing them?

Hey buddy Yess , and you should tie them down until the stretch is over. This is not really stressing the plant , it helps you to fill out your net. = More yield ! Hope it helped Nice grow 😎

If you look at picture 3 of 11 of my latest update, you'll see one bud, nearly dead-center. And you can see the white hairs are browning, but they're browning from the tips. Is that natural? Maybe normal for some strains? Or is it a sign of something else?

you sure you havent touched or rubbed against them when doing maintenance in the tent? physical contact will turn them brown.

Should I continue to defoliate during the final weeks of flowering or would it be best to leave all leaves for feeding power?

i mean even extreme techniques like schwazzing suggests stopping defoliation after 21th day of flowering because after that point the plant will not make new leaves so no i wouldnt continue defoliation at the final weeks of flowering. i’d actually stop right at where you are and dont take any more leaves unless they were resting on or rubbing against bud sites. even then you can tuck it under rather than pluck it away.

There's an inspection of my flat next week. While I'm not breaking any local laws, I still need to move my plants from my grow tent. Just for an hour or so. My plan is to snip the netting, and stake the plants. Any other/better ideas?

That would be the easiest method. And prob the least stressful on the plants Only other thing I could think of is getting some plywood under the pots and using a dolly. But it would be difficult to get under and out without causing a lot of stress on the plants. Good luck and try not to break anything. Have some medical tape and Popsicle sticks ready just in case 😄

I'm really close to harvest. I figure 7 days or so for my Northern Lights. There is a heat wave coming this week. I have trouble keeping my grow tent below 28 degree C and the humidity low when it's over 30 outside. Would I be better suited to harvest before the heatwave?

if those photos are current i would guess you have more like 2 weeks left. Im seeing lots of white hairs still. harvesting soon your buds wont have a very high thc content and i feel you would be very dissipointed. but if your humidity is high and heat is also high you risk bud rot. air movement will be key to keeping it away. if you are really on edge you could harvest a single plant. which will give you some and allow for more air movement between the rest of them.

We've had some really warm weather the past few days. This morning, just before the lights switched off, i saw it was 31.1 degrees C in the grow tent. Are the yellowing leaves a concern? The yellowest leaves are really brittle. I don't believe they're under-waterd.

It's not heat stress since that would be evident at the top of your plants - closest to the lights. My take is that this is their natural fade as they get ready for harvest and nothing at all to worry about... trim the yellow, brittle ones off if you want - they're not contributing to the plant at all any longer and you'll spend a WEE BIT shorter time in trim jail! LOL! Good luck.... and happy harvesting!
