Really excited to be trying out both Mephisto Autos Limited Edition and Samsung Quantum Boards by HLG. Day 1: Looking good! She popped pretty fast in the warm Grow room. In a week I will transplant to a 5 gallon smart pot. Day 7: I don’t think they liked the ghetto dish setup I had for them at all. As soon as I transplanted and put under a new light I saw better growth

Grow Questions

So a bunch of my babies are getting this extreme leaf curling. It happened when the lights were off for only like 3 hours. Could it be windburn or Humidity? Nothing is out of whack in the Grow room temps were under 80 and humidity was >70 because I have a dehumidifier. Thanks

Hi @LumberjackBuds! Actually I think it's a combo: overwatering + high humidity + heat. I've experienced similar conditions in the past and also had this kind of leaf-curling. Also, I've seen you got some brand new QuantumBoards, be careful as they often came dimmed at 50%, but you need them dimmed around ~25% to avoid any light-stress for your babies. It seems that over-lighting is really a thing with QBs! So in this scenario I would reduce the light power, put a fan blowing around the pots to dry them quicker, maybe increase the light distance a bit, and see how it goes. Hope this helps, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

@RusSwedeWeed, The blurple light is supplemental so they don’t stretch at all during this stage

Your groom is great, what’s the floor made of?

Not yet I might build something. I could put down my heating mat too but right now the temp in there is high enough to keep the floor okay

@LumberjackBuds, I thought it was concrete just making sure. Ok, do you have something on the flor between the pots and concrete? Concrete floor cold for plants, especially fabric pots👍🏼

@PharmaZ, Concrete thankfully. It’s original purpose was to be a mud room, for after you come in from skiing/playing outside

Yep they look very green but not unhealthy. As you pointed out it is 100% to do with environment rather than the amount of nutrients used. When watering a plant in high humidity/high heat or both you need to provide less nutrients. Both have to do with transpiration rate. With high humidity the air has too much water forcing the guard cells to take on water become turgid, previnting water escaping but still metabolise nutrients in the plant and soil. When it’s hot rather the same effect but opposite transpiration rate increases evaporation rate increases nutrient if she’s not using the nutrients you’re left with build up due to loss of water. Sorry for the biology lesson lol, I’m sure you know this. It’s just to give you a reminder that when you have a hot or humid or both you need less nutrients till she grows enough to use more. Follow size rather than schedule, it’s hard when you have 9,999,999 plants to feed all different and then growdiaries to update. I’m guessing you’re a little overwhelmed. I would ask GD to make a prize just for you for the most number of single diaries for a new grower haha you would win hands down mate!

@HarvesterOfSorrow, Yeah I haven’t seen a lot of these compared to the others. Honestly I’ve only seen like one pic of each but they look like good weed but nothing special on the outside.

@Stick, I think you’re right. For a while they were getting a sealed room with hot stagnant air. Plus the light is probably too close. Will the leaves recover? Edges feel a little crispy to the touch

I’d be building some run off tables with a long plastic pan underneath for catching run off you could have a great drain to waste system. And would save you getting on your knees or bending over. It’s all in my master plan for my next place👍🏼

@PharmaZ, I wish I could find two meter wide containers/dishes or whatever you could call it. My grow room is exactly 4 ft by 8 ft. Maybe I’ll build it with some plastic material. But for now I have dishes for every pot and the floor is concrete so it’s not a big deal to spill. What kinda DIY contraption do you have in mind? I’d just need to find the plastic I suppose. I water with a long nozzle sprayer but yeah it can be a pain when I’m training or inspecting

I suffered the same misfortune. All my fast buds are stunted and that’s from a poor transplant on my behalf. They’re finally picking up but theyre behind by aprox 1 weeks worth of growth. At such a young age it can be detremantal to the over all growth, size and yield. It’s crucial not to overwater at this stage, you want her searching for the water, most people kill plants that are in this state by over watering thinking the more water the faster. Small plant in a big pot needs little water les frequently. 1L max should take 1 week to need to water again, in my environment at least. Sorry for the long post just trying to offer some advise as I know how frustrating it can be to have a slow ass plant when our know she could be 2,5,10x.... times bigger ✌️🏻

@LumberjackBuds, that’s a point you have to water Rockwool every day but your not soaking the medium right...
