Really excited to be trying out both Mephisto Autos Limited Edition and Samsung Quantum Boards by HLG. Day 1: Looking good! She popped pretty fast in the warm Grow room. In a week I will transplant to a 5 gallon smart pot. Day 7: I don’t think they liked the ghetto dish setup I had for them at all. As soon as I transplanted and put under a new light I saw better growth

These guys seem to have some stunted growth from being in that shitty rock wool dish setup I had but they are making up for it now that they are in the air pots. I transplanted them into sunshine #4 because my other plants have had problems with N tox in coco loco, the only other soil mix I have...probably won’t ever be using fox farm soil again. Too expensive for what it is and it’s a pain in the ass dealing with nute probs. Day 8: into the new grow tent tomorrow

Day 15: My Timber Grow Lights 480/500W QB came in! This thing is so sleek. I got it in 3000k which is a tiny bit orange/yellow because I plan on spending most of my time in flower with autos. But I find it works just as well for veg too, hard to notice any slower growth or anything. Since I’m in veg I might add my 2000w blurple to the mix to keep the girls happy

Grow Questions

So a bunch of my babies are getting this extreme leaf curling. It happened when the lights were off for only like 3 hours. Could it be windburn or Humidity? Nothing is out of whack in the Grow room temps were under 80 and humidity was >70 because I have a dehumidifier. Thanks

Hi @LumberjackBuds! Actually I think it's a combo: overwatering + high humidity + heat. I've experienced similar conditions in the past and also had this kind of leaf-curling. Also, I've seen you got some brand new QuantumBoards, be careful as they often came dimmed at 50%, but you need them dimmed around ~25% to avoid any light-stress for your babies. It seems that over-lighting is really a thing with QBs! So in this scenario I would reduce the light power, put a fan blowing around the pots to dry them quicker, maybe increase the light distance a bit, and see how it goes. Hope this helps, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

Well sheesh my first autos grow isn’t gonna make any history books but it’s good to learn. The leaf curling is receding and I’m not freaking out. Now that the Death Star (hlg500w) has been moved to the flower tent these babies can finally be under the cooler white light where they belong. They’re probably getting big girl nutes this week so let’s pray this was my last fuck up.

She’s a little behind the rest, both the whites are. Still okay though. LST filled them in nicely, they got a foliar spray yesterday and I think they can handle more nutes. All are going into flower pretty slowly but that makes sense because they were stunted early in the Grow. Seeings pistils and slight move towards more flower type leaves. Looking more impressive now, although I might take them off the 24 hr light cycle because I’m not sure it’s helping much. I don’t mind if they veg more to get bigger, I think they need another week or the yields will be meh. Day 34: I’m not really sure what I’m doing wrong here but I dont think they like what I’m doing. Seeing some signs of N tox and when they seem very thirsty, giving them water and nutes doesn’t seem to help. It could be the Grow room too, honestly it’s not the best. Need more fans and humidity control. The plants are growing kinda slow, aren’t taking up water as fast as they should be. Something is off

Flowering is coming along nicely now, started about 10 days ago. I’m blown away by how fast these autos are compared to the photoperiods, it’s agonizing watching how my first two strains have flowered 2 weeks and barely have pistils These autos really barely need any nutes, I’ve been overdoing it and so they are n toxic. I wish I could give them more light, waiting on new ones delivery.

Looking pretty darn good. I’d say this girl is at the bottom in the pack we have going right now. I say that because some have frosty dense buds and others are still working on getting there. She has the least buds, somehow has 2 main colas but not much else. I trimmed out some leaves but it seems like they are entering the phase where they are mostly packing on flowers which is good. I’m stillness wary about starting flower nutes and getting burn. I added mammoth microbes to the mix after hearing great things, still wish they would have approved my request for a sample but I’m not so butthurt I don’t want the boost in buds.

Your groom is great, what’s the floor made of?
LumberjackBuds
LumberjackBudscommented7 years ago
Not yet I might build something. I could put down my heating mat too but right now the temp in there is high enough to keep the floor okay

PharmaZcommented7 years ago
@LumberjackBuds, I thought it was concrete just making sure. Ok, do you have something on the flor between the pots and concrete? Concrete floor cold for plants, especially fabric pots👍🏼
LumberjackBuds
LumberjackBudscommented7 years ago
@PharmaZ, Concrete thankfully. It’s original purpose was to be a mud room, for after you come in from skiing/playing outside

Yep they look very green but not unhealthy. As you pointed out it is 100% to do with environment rather than the amount of nutrients used. When watering a plant in high humidity/high heat or both you need to provide less nutrients. Both have to do with transpiration rate. With high humidity the air has too much water forcing the guard cells to take on water become turgid, previnting water escaping but still metabolise nutrients in the plant and soil. When it’s hot rather the same effect but opposite transpiration rate increases evaporation rate increases nutrient if she’s not using the nutrients you’re left with build up due to loss of water. Sorry for the biology lesson lol, I’m sure you know this. It’s just to give you a reminder that when you have a hot or humid or both you need less nutrients till she grows enough to use more. Follow size rather than schedule, it’s hard when you have 9,999,999 plants to feed all different and then growdiaries to update. I’m guessing you’re a little overwhelmed. I would ask GD to make a prize just for you for the most number of single diaries for a new grower haha you would win hands down mate!

@HarvesterOfSorrow, Yeah I haven’t seen a lot of these compared to the others. Honestly I’ve only seen like one pic of each but they look like good weed but nothing special on the outside.

@Stick, I think you’re right. For a while they were getting a sealed room with hot stagnant air. Plus the light is probably too close. Will the leaves recover? Edges feel a little crispy to the touch

I’d be building some run off tables with a long plastic pan underneath for catching run off you could have a great drain to waste system. And would save you getting on your knees or bending over. It’s all in my master plan for my next place👍🏼
LumberjackBuds
LumberjackBudscommented7 years ago
@PharmaZ, I wish I could find two meter wide containers/dishes or whatever you could call it. My grow room is exactly 4 ft by 8 ft. Maybe I’ll build it with some plastic material. But for now I have dishes for every pot and the floor is concrete so it’s not a big deal to spill. What kinda DIY contraption do you have in mind? I’d just need to find the plastic I suppose. I water with a long nozzle sprayer but yeah it can be a pain when I’m training or inspecting

I suffered the same misfortune. All my fast buds are stunted and that’s from a poor transplant on my behalf. They’re finally picking up but theyre behind by aprox 1 weeks worth of growth. At such a young age it can be detremantal to the over all growth, size and yield. It’s crucial not to overwater at this stage, you want her searching for the water, most people kill plants that are in this state by over watering thinking the more water the faster. Small plant in a big pot needs little water les frequently. 1L max should take 1 week to need to water again, in my environment at least. Sorry for the long post just trying to offer some advise as I know how frustrating it can be to have a slow ass plant when our know she could be 2,5,10x.... times bigger ✌️🏻

@LumberjackBuds, that’s a point you have to water Rockwool every day but your not soaking the medium right...
