I invite you to join this exciting journey through unconventional tasks, which we will tackle through the lens of experience and new knowledge gained along the way. In a couple of posts, I will describe how, what, and why, and then we’ll get straight to the report. ❔Main quests: 1. Gain experience in growing plants from regular seeds. 2. Preserve genetics for myself in the form of clones and seeds for the next generation. 3. Learn the basics of breeding and try crossing two strains. SETUP Strain: Freakshow IBL Seed bank: 7eastgenetics Strain: Drunken Bastard F3 Seed bank: 7eastgenetics Seed type: Regular Growing method: Hydroponics Substrate: GORILLA COCO SUPER MIX®️ - 75% Coconut / 25% Perlite Grow box size: MarsHydro 70x70x160 ; Noname 40x40x160 Fertilizers: Simplex Vega, Mass, Power; FloraFlex®️ V1+V2, B1+B2 Ventilation: 2xBlauberg DUCTO 100m3 + No-name carbon filter for 200m2 Lighting: Siyanie UV 105w + Red Booster 60w + UV-A Booster 30w; 3xAliexpress Noname 65w Devices: : pH meter - Milwaukee ph-600, TDS meter - Xiaomi TDS Pen Training: LST, HST, Defoliation, Topping 🌰Seeding. Preparing the necessary equipment and tools, getting the seeds, let’s get started. The FS seeds are mostly medium to large, light-colored, with a faint texture. The DB seeds are of similar size but significantly darker in color. 03/22 Soaking 8 each of FS and DB for a day. Tap water, left to stand, 190ppm + Simplex Mass at 1 drop per 300ml. 03/23 Coconut soaked in FFV1 + FFV2 solution according to parameters. 612ppm, 5.8 pH. We prepare the solution according to the manufacturer’s recommendations, mixing 1 gram of V1 and V2 per gallon (3.7L) in water at about 50 degrees Celsius. I mixed it in a liter and diluted it to the required amount. Part for buffering, part for watering clones from the previous cycle. We spread the coco in a simple cloner/seedling container from Fix with 18 cells. We number the cells, 1-8 FS, and 11-18 DB. Not all seeds sank, so we toss the floating ones into the container under the first numbers that sank and under the last ones that are floating. We enter all the info into a table and wait for the sprouts.

mutantfarmer On March 22, I put the seeds for germination, and by March 26, the sprouts started to appear. By April 4, 7 out of 8 Freakshow seeds had sprouted, and all 8 Drunken Bastard seeds had sprouted. For Freakshow, 3 plants turned out to be suitable for breeding: FS2, FS4, FS5. Only these plants have the correct shape of the freak leaf right from the start, without distortions. FS3 turned out to be a crooked mutant. The others started to grow their first leaves with issues. The FS6 seed was filed down on April 1, but by April 4, it still hadn't sprouted. All the Drunken Bastard plants are growing correctly. The DB16 and DB18 seeds were slightly filed down on April 1 to encourage germination since they hadn't shown results in 7 days, and by April 4, both had sprouted. Due to the lid of the seedling container, several sprouts stretched out, so I secured them to the ground with a plastic tie for tomatoes. Due to the small amount of material for the target selection, I decided to germinate the leftovers: 8 FS and 4 DB seeds. In total, 28 seeds are in the selection process - 16 FS and 12 DB. Coconut was soaked in a solution of FFV1 + FFV2 with parameters of 612 ppm, 5.8 pH.

mutantfarmer 🌿Freakshow: Culling of plants unsuitable by traits and/or unstable 5.04. FS#1 - culled from the next round, the first pair of leaves shows slight distortion and curvature. FS#2 - leaf of correct (for Freakshow😅) shape, without issues. FS#3 - definitely culled, a crooked mutant. FS#4 - leaf of correct shape, without issues. FS#5 - the best candidate for breeding, correct shape, active growth. FS#7 - leaf of correct shape, with flaws, the central part of the leaf (the middle finger of the five-fingered leaf) grows from a point below the sides, I think we’ll cull it. FS#8 - leaf of correct shape with slight flaws, the first leaves grow slightly unevenly, under observation, I think I’ll cull it. FS#6 - seed did not germinate, even after being trimmed. ❔In total: 2 we cut from the start, as one did not germinate, one is a mutant. 2 are unstable, not taking them into work. 3 are culled due to slight flaws. 3 definitely move on to the next round. ❕Three plants for continuing the project is certainly not enough, as there’s a chance that all 3 could turn out to be only girls or only boys. For this case, I threw in another 8 seeds into the process, with which we will conduct a new selection. 🍀Drunken Bastard: Culling of plants unsuitable by traits and/or unstable 5.04 DB#11 - Did not germinate until the seed was trimmed, I think I’ll cull it. What do you think? DB#12 - Leaf of correct shape, without issues. DB#13 - Leaf of correct shape, without issues. DB#15 - Leaf of correct shape, without issues. DB#16 - Leaf of correct shape, without issues. DB#17 - Leaf of correct shape, without issues. DB#18 - Leaf of correct shape, without issues. DB#14 - Did not germinate until the seed was trimmed, after germination it couldn’t shed its helmet and died. ❔In total: 1 I think I’ll cull due to the helmet issue. 1 died for the same reason. 6 remain in the game, leaves are growing correctly, plants are stable. ❕6 plants may be enough for us, however, I threw in another 5 seeds for a larger sample, and therefore, a more quality selection.

They moved into new containers with coconut substrate: 🌿Freakshow IBL #2, #4, #5, #7, #8 🍀Drunken Bastard F3 #12, #13, #15, #16, #17, #18 💧Coconut ~75% + Perlite ~25%, buffered with the solution: Water ~170 + CalMag 100 + FF(V1+V2) 200 ppm Total: 480ppm, 5.9 pH 🤷🏻The outsiders that showed clear mutations or developmental delays had their roots cleaned, moved to peat substrate, and went to showcase their survival skills in Spartan conditions - on the balcony. 🌿Freakshow IBL #1, #3 🍀Drunken Bastard F3 #11 ✍️Weekend pheno hunting. We start Saturday with a plant inspection and recording info about the traits under Exodus Cheese from GHS. On a wonderful Friday evening, I began the pheno hunting process, and after 4 plants, feeling stuck, I decided to leave it for later. On a warm Saturday morning, I decided to take a cut at the end of the third week of plant development from germination. I identified three leaders from the first batch, which will remain in the reverse watering system for more active rapid growth and obtaining clones for the next round. All of them show active healthy growth, without delays, and exhibit the phenotypic traits I would like to find. 🌿Freakshow IBL #5. The only one from the first sowing that has no deformities on the first leaves. I preliminarily divided Freakshow into 2 phenotypes: stretching (average internode distance), with rapidly developing side branches, and short (short internode distance), with slow development of side shoots. #5 belongs to the second type. 🍀Drunken Bastard #12, #15. Two good samples, active growth without issues, showing good anthocyanins in the color of the leaf petioles. I also divided Bastard into 2 main standout types: #12 stocky (short internodes), well-branched with short petioles #15 medium (average internode distance), with medium/long petioles and slowly developing side branches.

At the output, they demonstrate an insatiable appetite and thirst for new nutrients. By the end of the week, I raised the input levels to 710 ppm, but the output was again around 450-600; I continue to gradually increase the dosages during the solution change. Other than that - no problems. During the May holidays, I plan to take clones and switch the plants to flowering. 🏃‍♂️🏻Training All the plants continue to receive a slight bend; I'm only tying down the stems, not spreading the branches. Each topped bush is doing great at developing side branches, some are short but bushy, while others are long and stretched. 💧Watering The watering schedule in the system was set to 24/7. The solution over the week had the following composition and parameters: Water 190 + Barrel 0.25/l + FF (V1+V2) up to 600-710 ppm, pH 5.9-6.3. The plants on manual watering were drenched with the same solution, and the output varied within: 🍀DB - total output 470-530, 6.0 🌿FS - total output 410-430, 6.3 The second batch was drenched with the same solution, without measuring the drainage. ⚙️Parameters. Air temperature: 23.7-26.4° Humidity: 38-45% 🕶️ Silicon in an available form: Simplex Barrel I want to talk about a supplement that I started using this week (04/20). For several cycles, I have been using silicon supplements, including dry Protomineral from Rastea in soil and Liquid Silicon from Growth Technology on coco-reverse; now we've reached a trial of a product from one of my favorite manufacturers - Simplex. Barrel strengthens and protects the plant, activates the immune system, and enhances the ability to withstand negative environmental factors. Silicon improves the plant's transport system and stimulates phosphorus absorption. Benefits: — Replenishes silicon deficiency in substrates — Increases plant stress resistance — Contributes to increased mechanical strength of the stem and branches Composition: • Silicon (SiO2) - 10% • Soluble potassium (K2O) - 7% 🦄 Workhorse: Simplex Vega On 04/22, I applied the first, preventive, foliar feeding. Vega is a plant growth stimulant during the vegetative period, containing all the necessary elements and compounds for photosynthesis in chelated form. When treated with the stimulant, the leaves acquire a healthy green color, carbon dioxide absorption increases, and elasticity is restored. For the prevention of chlorosis and nutrient deficiencies, it is recommended to treat healthy plants in the vegetative growth stage with the product. Benefits: — Replenishes deficiencies of magnesium, calcium, nitrogen, iron, zinc — Prevents the development of non-infectious chlorosis — Normalizes the process of photosynthesis Composition: • Nitrogen (N) • Soluble magnesium (MgO) • Soluble calcium (CaO) • Iron (Fe) in a mixture of chelates • Zinc (Zn) in the form of EDTA chelate 🐝During the week, a photogenic friend in a half-dream visited the greenhouse. He snuck into the box while I was busy with the plants. We took a couple of shots and kindly sent him on his way down the street.

Air temperature: 23.7-26.4° Humidity: 38-45% 🕵️‍♂️🏻And here we are again with the "Weekend Pheno Hunting" section: Inspections, notes, selections. 🌿Inventory: Freakshow IBL #5, #25 FS#25 develops side branches better than its counterpart at the same age, prior to training. The distance between nodes is average, and the side branches are normal (not thin and stretched, nor short and bushy). FS#5 has a short distance between nodes both on the stem and side branches; the branches and leaf petioles are thick and robust. 👃🏻Both plants have a slight cannabis scent. If you rub the stem and leaf petioles, they start to emit an earthy-diesel aroma, with #5 having a slight swampy smell. 🍀Inventory: Drunken Bastard F3 #12, #15, #31 DB#12 branches well, looking like a bushy clump you’d find in city parks, with medium-length branches and average spacing between nodes. It does not have a distinct cannabis aroma; if you rub the stem, it gives off light musky notes. DB#15 branches well, with long branches and a large distance between nodes. There’s a slight cannabis aroma from the foliage; when rubbing the stem and petioles, a bright sour musky-earthy scent is noticeable. DB#31 is a bastard from the second batch, showing bright purple hues on the leaf petioles, and has been placed in a container with coco at 0.5L.

mutantfarmer 👽Plant Condition. All the plants during the 6th week of life felt great and showed active healthy growth without any issues. Thanks to the fact that I was collecting and testing on the residents of my boxes with the reverse watering system - the growth rates increased. Each plant managed to grow good branches suitable for taking clones, and so it was. 💪🏻 Training I topped FS#25 (top right) and DB#31 (center). 💧 Watering On Monday, I assembled the first two versions of the F**cktica system - Small and Medium and filled them with the same solution - new solution in the system Water ~190ppm + Barrel 0.25ml/l + FF (V1+V2) + pH Down = 790 ppm, pH 5.9. The maximum nutrient level that I brought the plants to reached 880ppm, and was successfully absorbed. Throughout the week, the nutrients were in the following ranges: Solution in system S - 610-880 ppm, pH 5.8-6.3. Solution in system M - 690-860 ppm, pH 5.7-6.4 The second batch was watered with the solution from M. ⚙️ Parameters. Air temperature: 19.7-23.4° Humidity: 40-55% 🧙‍♂️🏻 Cloning 07/05. — For the clones, I prepared a couple of propagators from FixPrice. I rinsed the coco and soaked it for an hour in the GHE WaterFarm to buffer with the circulating solution: Water 180ppm + CalMag ~100ppm + FF (B1+B2) to 590ppm, 5.5pH. — I cut 4-6 clones from each plant + removed as much foliage, excess branches, and unpromising shoots as possible to see who adapts faster and better withstands the stress test. — Both the clones and the plants were treated with a solution with Aloe. For the treatment, I took a leaf from a wild Aloe outside, blended it, and soaked it for a couple of hours in warm water. — The propagators will be kept without ventilation for 3 days to maintain the highest possible humidity. Then I will gradually start to open them, and I will treat them with Simplex Vega as a foliar feed. — Adult plants will be sent to 12/12 to determine sex, selection, and separation into male/female specimens. 😂 I present to you the new completely imperfect reverse watering system F**cktika from GrowerFlex Please do not confuse it with the Praktica system from E-Mode (e-mode.ru) and the manufacturer FloraFlex (floraflex.com), as my reverse is something else entirely; it has taken all the most impractical and inconvenient aspects to take up more of my time and effort for assembling and maintaining this system. However, the most important thing is the result, as the system works, and instead of spending 30-40 minutes a day preparing the solution and watering twice, I only do 2 control measurements in the morning and evening, losing no more than 5 minutes of time. Throughout the week, I was assembling/disassembling/painting/cutting/rearranging my setups in an attempt to optimize space, capabilities, and ease of use. As a result, I got 3 variations: Small - with a 10-liter tank in a 40x40 box, Medium - with a 21-liter tank in a 60x60 box, and Big - with a 27-liter tank in a 70x70 box. For the final result, I just need to buy a tube for the drippers, which I will get next week. REVERSE ASSEMBLY All components were gathered at a construction hypermarket, and the assembly was done without any tools, except for a cutter, screwdriver, and knife (yes, the holes in the plastic were simply cut with a heated knife). When assembling the third system, I took into account my mistake with the absence of a solution level (which S and M, as you understand, do not have), and made a small unpainted strip for monitoring purposes. I think that over time I will acquire the appropriate tool to prepare holes in the containers and attach a tube for the level. 💩 ATTENTION: If you are blocking the containers from light yourself, use proper paint or aluminum tape. The paint is okay, but the way it holds and peels off like a "film" leaves much to be desired. To understand the composition, I will give an example of the assembly of the Big system. Metal clamp for a strong connection of the mainline with the pump - 1.4L Adjustable drippers - 16 pcs - 7.2L Mainline 16mm 1 meter - 4.95L End cap for the mainline - 0.8L Dripper tubes 1/4 - 8 meters - 15.6L 1/4 tube splitter - 8 pcs - 4L Pump 300l/h Hailea - 30L Container for 27L - 46L Tray 70x37 (FixPrice) - 7.45L Black matte spray paint - 12L Pots 0.5L - 16 pcs - 7.2L Total: ~136L = ~ 45 dollars

The clones were treated with a solution of Aloe and the Simplex Vega stimulant, and starting from the middle of the week, I began to gradually lower the humidity by slightly opening the propagators, plus I ventilate by removing the lid and getting rid of excess moisture a couple of times a day. 💃Girls and Boys The freaks and bastards have started to show sex characteristics, I think by next week I'll be able to accurately determine who's who. 🏃‍♂️🏻,🏃‍♂️🏻,🏃‍♂️🏻,🏃‍♂️🏻Training While the plants were recovering from stress, I decided not to disturb them and we skipped training. 💧Watering In the last 2 days, water consumption has increased. Since the solution has been used for a week, I replaced it with a new one, adding a higher concentration of nutrients. FF (V1+V2) + Barrel 0.25ml/l + pH Down = 840 ppm, 5.8 pH Big - the readings before replacing the solution were 806, 6.3. Throughout the week, they varied in the range of 730-800 ppm and 5.8-6.3 pH. The second batch was watered with solution B. ⚙️Parameters. Air temperature: 20.5-24.2° Humidity: 38-50%

mutantfarmer 👽Plant Condition. The plants are eating well and growing actively, without any obvious ailments or flaws. They handled a slight increase in solution concentration with resilience. Many clones have rooted, and I'm transplanting the best specimens from the male plants into small 0.2L pots with coco, while the weaker clones are going to waste. I'm not touching the clones of the undecided sex for now. And Drunken Bastard #15. 🏃‍♂️🏻Training / Rearrangement The solution was accumulating in the large tray, around the edges. I need to create a slight slope to get rid of this problem. I think I'll come up with some stands on the sides later to hold the platform above the tank. For now, I've decided to go a different route and try to fit the plants on a square platform from the M system. I'll leave them there for now. 22.05 The 4 best male plants moved to the S system, with flowering solution. 💧Watering 21.05 I gave the last treatment of Simplex Vega on the leaves. 22.05 I prepared new nutrients for all the plants for the next week. Big - readings before replacing the solution 805 6.0 I replaced it with a new flowering phase solution: FF (B1+B2) + Barrel + pH Down 750, 5.8 Small - 880, 6.2 the plants ate half of the tank, I diluted it with the new solution from B, and added water 740, 5. 💦I sprayed the clones this week with Simplex Vega on the leaves, and on 22.05 with a 1:1 diluted solution from tank M. ⚙️Parameters. Air temperature: 21.5-25..2° Humidity: 38-50% ✍️🏻👀It's time again for inspection and notes on samples of our wonderful genetics. 🌿Freakshow. Freakshow produced 3 distinct phenotypes. I selected the best male plants, and for the females, we will wait until next weekend to see the exact male/female/herm traits. Preliminary observations show that most exhibit male traits. Phenotype #1 — FS #2, #4, #7 Aroma: Pepper/diesel, peach, and lemon scent. Structure: Well-branched, stretching, with medium/large internodal spacing. Phenotype #2 — FS #5, #8 Aroma: Citrus, pine, and earthy-honey notes. Structure: Weakly branched, short, resinous, with massive branches. Phenotype #3 — FS #25 Aroma: Deep citrus-lemon Structure: Weakly branched, medium height, with long internodal spacing. The boys that are kept for pollen collection, selected as the best among their phenos: Pheno #1 — #4 - fast active male. Pheno #2 — #5 - powerful and resinous male. 🍀Drunken Bastard F3 The Bastard produced 2 well-distinguished phenotypes. I selected the best male plants, and for the females, we will wait until next weekend to see the exact male/female/herm traits. I can now confidently say that 5 out of 8 samples are 100% male. mutantfarmer 👽 Plant Condition. At the time of writing this post, the plants are feeling great. This week, they've significantly increased in height, shown sexual characteristics, and some even have both types! The temperature outside has reached 30 degrees, and accordingly, the air temperature at home and in the box has also risen, causing the plants to absorb water more actively. Today, on 30.05, I turned on the air conditioner, so I don't think there will be significant problems due to the temperature regime going forward. 🏃‍♂️🏻 Training / Rearrangements I returned DB#11 to the box, which was moved to the balcony at the beginning of the report to determine its sex. As planned, I found stands for the wide tray and put it back in place. I also utilized the second floor of the box for flowering and moved the rooted clones there to save time and gather more end product. On 26.05, I turned on the boosters (Siyanie UV and Siyanie Red 660nm) in the flowering box. For now, I left them only on the first floor. 💧 Watering Throughout the week, the nutrient levels varied within the previously prepared solution, with a range of ~50-60 ppm points and 0.2-0.3 pH. On 28.05, I prepared a solution in the Small and Big systems - FF (V1+V2) + Simplex Barrel + pH Down - 840 ppm, 5.9 pH ⚙️ Parameters. Air temperature: 23.5-28..6° Humidity: 35-55% 🙈 A bit of disappointing news from the fields. The bush with the symmetrical leaves and structure that I liked the most, the best male for breeding, turned out to be a hermie. It started to show pistils in several spots on its pollen sacs on different nodes. I decided to avoid problems that this could cause later and sent it to the waste (I noticed the first signs at the beginning of the week, gave it some time until the end of the week, and in the end, it didn't make me happy). And moving on, first about Freakshow: 🌿 Freakshow IBL (in the first two photos #8), left us with only one sample for breeding (if it doesn't drop its balls). FS #2, #7 — the girls showed signs of hermaphroditism. FS#8 — I left it for breeding, currently the only one from the first sowing that hasn't shown mixed sexual characteristics. FS#5 — a boy that I gave time to think, continued to show pistils on some nodes, so it also went to waste. FS#4 — remains for breeding, as the most active and resilient guy. FS#25 — is slowly showing sexual characteristics (male), I'll keep an eye on its stability, if all is well, I'll pollinate the girls with it. From the second batch of freaks, 3 girls, 1 of which is a hermie, and one seems to be a boy, waiting for full manifestation. Photos of the hermies #2, #7 - I consider the cause of the hermaphroditism to be a malfunctioning mechanical timer due to a power outage, which led to a disruption in the light schedule. However, I'm glad this manifested now, rather than after receiving an even weaker next generation in this aspect. The guys from 7eastgenetics said that this is Shapeshifter genetics, not their production, so they can't guarantee how the genetics will express itself. Apparently, with their open pollination involving 10+ boys and 20+ girls, hermies crept in, and my case is not unique, as there are similar cases on GrowDiaries and OwerGrow. And about the Bastards: 🍀 Drunken Bastard F3 (in photo #16) DB#16 — remains for breeding from the girls, as the other Bastards turned out to be boys. I spoke about this with a couple of breeders who raise bastards, they say 80-90% boys is common when working with this strain. DB#15 — remains for breeding from the boys, as it shows purple stems, active growth, and good skeleton structure. The hermie girls moved to the second floor of the box with the male plants, and the clones from them stayed in the box for flowering also on the second floor. There's an option to collect pollen from the hermies and pollinate their own clones to obtain feminized seeds. What do you think, is it worth using such easily hermied samples? It seems to me that this will produce females that will show male traits at every snap of the fingers, but I would like to know the community's opinion.

mutantfarmer 👽Plant Condition. The hot season has arrived, with temperatures reaching 30-32 degrees in the shade. The plants have started to absorb water more actively. I added aeration to the solution tank and turned on the air conditioner; it's 25 at home, around 28-30 in the boxes. + The silicon supplement helps the plants cope with the current conditions. 🏃‍♂️🏻,🏃‍♂️🏻Training / Rearrangements I didn't keep any girls or boys that showed signs of hermaphroditism, as I thought collecting pollen from such specimens for feminization was a bad idea, and making feminized seeds wasn't in my plans for this season. So I just disposed of both the plants and their clones. I left only 1, trimmed it, and..... here comes the EXPERIMENTS section! I'll tell you about it in the next post. 💧Watering Since we've moved to the flowering stage, and it's been over a week since the last foliar feeding, I decided it was time to give the plants a little boost and apply a stimulant familiar to my readers from the seed soaking stage - Simplex Mass. This time we're using it for its primary purpose, to stimulate the active growth of powerful buds. 31.05 FF (B1+B2) + Simplex Barrel + pH Down - 820, 6.1, the solution parameters held steady at these levels for a week, with a variation of about 30-100 ppm up or down, depending on the temperature conditions. ⚙️Parameters. Air temperature: 25.5-30.2° Humidity: 40-60% 😈And here we come to a crucial point in the process - Pollination. For reliable results, I conducted the process 3 times. As a result - the pistils darkened, and the calyxes began to swell from the next generation forming within them for my experiments. First: 1. To carry out the process, I turn off the electricity in the boxes and do my best to prevent air movement in the room (close doors, windows, turn off the air conditioner, etc.). 2. I take the girls out for pollination with Freak on the balcony. Carefully take the boy out for pollination on the balcony. Then I select individual fat pollen sacs and, tearing them off, transfer the pollen to the girls + I shake the boy over them at the end for accurate results. After that, I let the girls sit for a couple of hours, spray them with a mist to wash off any remaining pollen from the leaves, and return them to the boxes. 3. Repeat step 2 with the Bastards. I indicate the crosses in the order "Female plant x Male plant" Freakshow IBL (2p.) - Non-hermied Freaks from the second planting, I don't assign a number to each one because it doesn't make sense, as due to the small sample size, I will conduct another round with both Freaks and Bastards in the next season to select mother plants for stable breeding. Breeding for the next round: Drunken Bastard F3 #16 x Drunken Bastard F3 #15 Freakshow IBL #8 x Freakshow IBL #4 Freakshow IBL (2p.) x Freakshow IBL #4 Freakshow IBL (2p.) x Freakshow IBL #4 Test cross: Freakshow IBL (2p.) x Drunken Bastard F3 #16 Clones are left for the next pollination, waiting for flowering from Lowryder Drunken Bastard F3 #16 x Lowryder IBL #? Freakshow IBL #8 x Lowryder IBL #? Second: I repeated the process in the same way. After that, I decided to conduct an experiment and throw in the male pollinators (which are no longer needed) and one hermie girl for reveg. I did maximum trimming of the branches and root system, left the desired number of growth points, and put them all in one pot on the balcony. There’s no specific significant goal in this - just a desire to see how the plants of these strains behave in reveg. Third: From the male plants that were sent for reveg, I collected the pollen sacs in a bag, cutting them off with the branches, dried them naturally at room temperature, shook off the remaining pollen, discarded all the green material, and used the bag for another attempt at pollination. 😎Section: Experiments 🌿At the start of the selection for Freakshow, my main task was to select stable Freaks based on their leaves and propagate them. An additional task was to find some interesting mutations. And since we’ve already resolved the main one, the plants are pollinated, we move on to the second. From the balcony, I returned to box B to determine the sex of #1 and #3, which have distortions in leaf shape + #3 has 3 colas growing on one of the levels.

I pollinated one clone from FS#8 and DB#16 with Lowryders from a parallel report.. I conducted a small description of the phenotypes and discovered a mutation, which I will describe further. 🏃‍♂️🏻,🏃‍♂️🏻Training / Rearrangements 17.06 🍀Drunken Bastard #16 clone moved from a 0.2L container to a FF Pot Pro 1L. While it develops roots, it will be on manual watering with a solution from system M. 💧Watering Throughout the week, nutrient levels remained within the norm from 720 to 830 ppm, pH 6.0-6.4, on 15.06 there was a brief spike in ppm to 930 after the Simplex Power treatment, after which the solution was diluted to 720, and stayed within the norm thereafter. 19.06 new FF solution (B1+B2) + pH Down - 760, 6.0. ⚙️Parameters. Air temperature: 25.5-29.1° Humidity: 40-60% Guys, what about mutations on the mutant? 🍀Drunken Bastard F3 #16. Buds have started forming on the leaves. I've never encountered such a situation with breeders propagating Bastards that I observe. I wrote to a couple of them to clarify how often this mutation occurs. In the photo, the bastard is next to a 10L bottle for a rough understanding of the plant's size in a 1L pot. Lunar Gardens Gojira (representative of Kalyseeds and Tepryz in the USA) suggested that this is a rare mutation for the Bastard, and I was lucky to catch it (and I'm so glad that out of my selection of 12 plants, there turned out to be one girl with such a bonus). So now in the upcoming seasons, we will try to stabilize it by selecting good samples among the offspring and backcrossing. Phenohunting 🍀Drunken Bastard #16 Structure: Initially topped and trimmed to two colas, it developed many branches. A strain that requires minimal intervention to form a bushy shape, growing wide instead of tall. Aroma: bright fresh sweet citrus aroma, with distinct lime notes. I've never experienced such a vibrant terpene profile before. Bonus: an extremely rare phenotype with buds forming at the base of the leaf fingers, does not provide significant advantages in extra weight or any other parameters. Just aesthetic pleasure from observing the mutations. 🌿Freakshow #8 Structure: short stature, branches do not develop into many colas, however, each growth point forms a flower cluster adjacent to the main stem, resulting in the plant turning into one solid bud. Aroma: pungent, citrusy, slightly musky-woody, with predominant orange notes, most closely resembling orange candies from a pack of Skittles. Bonus: I think that crossing with a short Lowryder will yield cool results in the form of short dense plants, ideal for small tents, balcony growing, and microgrowing. 🌿Freakshow — unnumbered plants. Structure: elongated, medium to long distance between nodes, have small round buds. Aroma: ranging from predominant lemon to earthy-peach. (The plant in the last photo experienced some minor troubles after the Simplex Power treatment, likely less demanding of high nutrient concentrations) Upgrade Two-story boxes - pff. Wall of boxes? Yes, my brother. In the new 60x60 box, I haven't built the second floor yet, let the light for it sit in reserve. Since there's no need yet, I might add it later if space becomes tight. On the third floor, there will be a cloner, and subsequently, copies of the mother plants will be stored. Floor area: 1.2m2 (0.36+0.36+0.49) Working area: 2.7m2. (0.64+0.49+0.49+0.36+0.36+0.36) with a possible expansion to 3.06m2.

The plants are not experiencing significant problems, but there are minor nutrient issues with a couple of them, as they are of different sizes, ages, and strains, yet they are on the same solution. 24.06 Photo of the beautiful mothers #FS#8 and DB#16 21.06 🌿On the slightly crooked FS#1 and #3, after being pollinated by the male FS#4, forming seeds are visible. 26.06 🍀Upon inspection, a mature seed fell out of DB#16, I’ll let it dry a bit, throw it in the fridge for a couple of weeks, and try to germinate it. 🏃‍♂️🏻,🏃‍♂️🏻Training / Rearrangements 22.06 🍀Drunken Bastard #16's tops got dangerously close to the lamp and started to burn. mutantfarmer 👽 Plant Condition. The week started with wonderful signs of the upcoming harvest, in the form of falling seeds during the inspection of the bushes. By the way, it ended with the harvest of a couple of plants. Besides the falling seeds, the appetite continued to decrease, so I lowered the concentration of the nutrient solution. FS#8 / DB #16 The seeds falling from the buds were carefully collected and sent to dry. FS#1 and FS#3 in 0.5 pots on Simplex Terra are being watered randomly 1-3 times with water and once with nutrients at a concentration of about 600-700ppm. 🏃‍♂️🏻 Training / Repositioning On 9.06, FS#4 and DB#15 male guardian plants were flushed with a wedge and moved to 1L pots filled with soil. I will take a clone from them and send the plants to live on the balcony to collect pollen. Also, besides DB#15 (with recessive traits, in color and aroma), I have a boy DB#18 (with dominant traits, as all other boys were identical to him) left on the balcony, from which I will also take a clone and save pollen. 💧 Watering Throughout the week, the nutrient levels remained within the norm, around 650ppm, with the highest reading reaching 720. By the end of the week, I lowered the nutrients to 620ppm. On 5.06, the new solution FF (B1+B2) + pH Down - 675, 6.2 ⚙️ Parameters. Air temperature: 26.5-30.6° Humidity: 40-60% Before describing and showing the harvested girls, let me tell you about their pollinator: 🌿 Freakshow IBL #4 ✍️🏻 General Description: Freakshow #4 was used to pollinate Freakshow IBL #8, Drunken Bastard F3 #16, Freakshow #24, Freakshow #28, Freakshow #1, Freakshow #3. #4 A cool active male. Since most samples, including this one, were well-branched, with a long distance between nodes and active growth of branches from the stem, I believe this is a dominant structural trait of the strain. From the start, the plant showed good trouble-free growth, easily tolerating stress and training during the vegetative stage. When switching to 12/12, it was the first to show sexual signs and went into flowering. During flowering, it produced an abundance of pollen and shot out colas like a chlorophytum, stretching into rods. It started pollinating in the fourth week after the switch. To not keep the pollinating boys for long and free up space in the box for other strains, I used them as soon as the pollen sacs began to open abundantly. After pollination, I collected some pollen and disposed of the plant, saving a clone. ⚙️ Parameters: Vegetation — 43 days Time from switch to 12/12 to pollen collection / pollination — 25 days Sex — male, no signs of hermaphroditism Pot volume — early veg 0.29, veg 0.5, switch to flowering and flowering 1L Watering — Reverse watering system Substrate — Coco + perlite. Nutrition: FloraFlex base + Simplex stimulants and additives 👃🏻 Aroma: During vegetation — When rubbing the stem, it emits earthy-peppery notes. During flowering — When rubbing the stem, it emits a rich smell of pepper/diesel, peach, and lemon. Structure: Skeleton — starting from early vegetation, it branched well, growing colas with a long distance between nodes. After switching to flowering, it began to rapidly gain height, increasing in size and pressing against the light, which I had to combat with HST, bending the colas. Leaves — The first leaves had the correct Freakshow shape, without deformations and distortions. Subsequent leaves during veg and flowering also maintained the correct shape. Leaf color - dark green. 🗓️ Dates: Planting — 23.03 Germination — 26.03 Cask — 27.03 Clones — Taken 8.05 12/12 — 08.05 Sex — 16.05 Flowering — 18.05 Pollination — 1.06 Harvest — 1.06 🔪🌿 Harvest: Freakshow IBL #8 ✍️🏻 General Description: Sample #8 — Pollinated by Freakshow #4 for breeding within the strain. #8 turned out to be a good sturdy plant, showing (I assume, based on my small sample) recessive traits in the form of compact size and skeletal structure. A good option for growers who love SOG / stealth growers with systems / guerrillas with small plots. The flowering time from the switch to 12/12 took 62 days until seeds started falling from the buds, which indicates relatively short flowering times. Throughout the cycle, it showed ease of care — resistance to high nutrient dosages, training, and stress. During the cycle, it did not show significant signs of deficiencies or overdoses. Unfortunately, due to the late transplant into a 1L pot, the root system remained developed at the level of 0.5L, which did not allow it to unlock a bit more potential. Definitely moving on to the next round. After the harvest, it will go for flushing and revegetation. ⚙️ Parameters: Vegetation — 43 days Flowering — 62 days From pollination to seeds — 37 days Height — 32cm Sex — female, no signs of hermaphroditism Pot volume — early veg 0.29, veg and switch to flowering 0.5, pre-flower and flowering 1L Watering — Reverse watering system Substrate — Coco + perlite. Nutrition: FloraFlex base + Simplex stimulants and additives. 👃🏻 Aroma: In early veg — Earthy-diesel notes In pre-flower — Citrus, pine, and earthy-honey notes. During flowering — Pungent, citrus, slightly musky-woody, with dominant orange notes, most closely resembling orange candies from a pack of Skittles. At harvest time — A pungent and deep fruity-citrus aroma reminiscent of green sour apple with orange and Skittles candies. Structure: Skeleton — throughout the cycle, the plant had a low, stocky growth, with a short distance between nodes and small massive branches. At 4 weeks of life, topping was performed to form two main colas, and the remaining branches were cut for clones. Upon switching to flowering, it slightly stretched, but branching did not occur, and all shoots turned into buds adjacent to the main colas. Leaves — the first leaves, like many other samples, were a bit crooked, which is quite normal for the Freakshow strain, if you look through grower reports. Starting from vegetation, the leaf shape fully corresponds to the strain. Leaf color - dark green. 🗓️ Dates: Planting — 23.03 Germination — 26.03 Cask — 27.03 Clones — Taken 8.05 12/12 — 08.05 Sex — 25.05 Flowering — 30.05 Pollination — 1.06 Harvest — 07.07 🔪🌿 Harvest: Freakshow IBL #28 ✍️🏻 General Description: Sample #28 - Pollinated by Freakshow #4 for breeding within the strain. #28 was thrown into the second batch of seeds to expand the sample from the first sowing of 8 pcs. In structure, it resembles the male pollinator #4, well-branched, with a long distance between nodes. It grows quickly, taking up space in height and width. It forms round dense buds that emit a sweet aroma. Suitable for growers who love tall plants with healthy colas that do not require long trimming. ⚙️ Parameters: Vegetation — 25 days Flowering — 63 days From pollination to seeds — 38 days Height — 31cm Sex — female, no signs of hermaphroditism Pot volume — The main part of the veg was spent in 0.05L cups, late veg in 0.29, and in pre-flower it was moved to 0.5L. Structure: Skeleton — branching, stretching structure, with a long distance between nodes. After topping, the branches quickly grew. Upon switching to flowering, it gained 2-2.5 times its size. mutantfarmer 11/07-17/07 👽Plant Condition. The plants are reaching maturity, all of them have a reduced appetite. Zaharyvil has 2 plants FS#22 x DB#15 and FS#24 x FS#4. I think DB#16 will go under the knife in a week, as the buds already have mature seeds sticking out in different directions. In 1.5-2 weeks, FS#1 x FS#4 and FS#3 x FS#4 growing in peat substrate, and in 2-2.5 weeks, clones of DB#16 x FS#4, DB#16 x Lowryder, and FS#8 x Lowryder. 🏃‍♂️🏻Training / Rearrangement 11.07 Since I cut 3 plants last week, and another 2 today, and freed up the box for Zaharyvil Lowryder, a decision was made for a new rearrangement to give Bastard, a couple of Freaks, and the clones going for hybrids more time to flower and produce seeds, while giving the plants from the neighboring report more space for veg. All the flowering plants moved to a 60x60 box on a reverse watering system with a small capacity tank. 13.07 In the evening, I took clones from the male DB#15, FS#4, and female DB#16, P#4. 15.07 I additionally took 4 more clones from the vegetating mother plant DB#16. 💧Watering Throughout the week, the nutrient levels remained within the norm, around 620ppm, the highest reading reached 660 by the end of the week, the lowest was 590. 16.06 — new FF solution (B1+B2) + pH Down — 620 6.0 ⚙️Parameters. Air temperature: 25.5-29.6° Humidity: 40-60% 11/07-17/07 🔪🌿 Harvest: Freakshow IBL #24 ✍️🏻General Description: Sample #24 - Pollinated by Freakshow #4 for breeding within the strain. #24 was discarded in the second batch of seeds to expand the sample from the first sowing of 8. The plant has an average type between #8 and #28. Stretching, medium height, with dense round buds, covered in trichomes more than its sisters. I will use it to search for phenotypes in the next round. The leaf-to-bud ratio is less than previous samples, making it the easiest in terms of trimming. The original plants left are FS#1 and FS#3 + pollinated clones for creating hybrids, among which is that very DB#16 x FS#4, whose offspring is the goal of the report.. The freaks in the soil are feeling great, watered as the substrate dries out, and every couple of waterings they get nutrients for color. 🏃‍♂️🏻,🏃‍♂️🏻Training / Rearrangements 20.07 Since it doesn't make sense to use so much space for just 5 super small plants, I brought in plants from the neighboring report, and now the mutants will ripen together with the CBD strains going into flowering. I left FS#1 and #3 in the 60x60 box, and moved the clones to the 70x70, where they'll have a bit more space. The vegetating clone DB#16 also went into flowering but moved to the 60x60 box, as it was bumping into the light in its previous spot, burning the leaves. I'm still pondering who to pollinate it with.... 💧Watering Throughout the week, nutrient levels stayed within normal limits, around 600ppm, with the highest reading reaching 650ppm. The solution hasn't changed since last week (16.06 — new FF solution (B1+B2) + pH Down — 620 6.0) ⚙️Parameters. Air temperature: 24.3-28.6° Humidity: 40-60% 🔪🍀 Harvest: Drunken Bastard #16 ✍️🏻General Description: Sample #16 - Pollinated by Drunken Bastard #15 for breeding within the strain. #16 showed active growth, abundant branching, and hardiness throughout the entire growth cycle. After topping in veg, I trimmed all branches, leaving 2 main colas, and subsequently, the plant turned back into a dense bush, growing many offshoots. I think it's just the perfect option for growing using the SCROG technique. Easily withstands stress and responds well to cloning. Under high light intensity and UV radiation, the bush produced leaf tails and buds growing from the leaves. This compensated for the lack of purple buds in the phenotype. ⚙️Parameters: Vegetation — 47 days Flowering — 70 days From pollination to seeds — 50 days Height — 54cm Sex — female, with no signs of hermaphroditism Pot volume — started in veg, the plant spent in 0.29, main veg in a 0.5l container, and during pre-flowering moved to 1l. Sorting through seeds, inspecting, testing each for strength, and selecting the best — that's what can pile on the tasks. 25.07 I cut clones of the offspring-bearing — Drunken Bastard #16 x LowryderBoyzzzz (pollen from 4 males) and Drunken Bastard #16 x Freakshow #4 26.07 The same fate befell the clone Freakshow IBL #8 x LowryderBoyzzzz (pollen from 4 males). 27.07 Collected the seeds and sent them to the fridge for a couple of weeks of resting before germination tests. 🌿 Freakshow IBL #8. Re-vegging was successful; 26 days after the harvest, new branches started to develop on the plant, and I'll take clones in a couple of weeks. ☝️Bonus Re-vegging FS, the number of which I don't remember. During the flowering phase, I discarded it from the game due to hermaphroditism, but I didn't kill it; I sent it to the balcony for experiments. 🏃🏽‍♂️Training / Rearrangements This week I finally got the third floor of my GrowerStuffer Home Breeding System up and running 😅. It starts right now. First of all, I want to share the first version of the packaging for my products. I decided to call my small home farm-seed bank quite simply Mutant Farm - since I still want to focus on working with mutant strains. During this cycle, one large system will be used for this and other strains: Tent: 2 x 100x100x200 Big Anaconda, 100x100x200 Noname, 2 x 60x60x180 Big Anaconda, 70x70x160 MarsHydro, 40x40x160 Noname (Total area 4.3-5.2m2, some of the smaller tents I will divide into 2 levels). Lights: Big Anaconda Bar 300w, 2xFlexStar 240w, Siyanie Elite V2 - 105w. Siyanie Red Booster - 60w, Siyanie UV Booster - 30w, 5x55w Noname. (1.25kW) Ventilation: 3 x VENTS PRO 100 180/245 m, 3 x Blauberg Ducto 100m3 x 3 (need to buy one more), for airflow in the large boxes, clip-on fans. Fertilizers: G.H. Feeding - Grow, Hybrid, Booster Substrate: Coconut Van Egmond In this report, I will continue the story about the hybrid Drunken Bastard x Freakshow. 30/09/2022 Preparing the necessary equipment and tools, getting the seeds, let's get started. Soaking for a day. Tap water, settled, 120 ppm + Simplex Mass at 1 drop per 300ml. 01/10/2022 🌰 The seeds have been resting in the solution for almost a day, now they are going into improvised containers for germination. Some strains with 1-2 seeds have already started to show "tails." All strains follow the same super simple scheme: 1. Soak the paper towels in the solution from the seeds and wring them out. 2. Place the seeds between two paper towels. 3. Close with lids (unused trays for small pots) and put in a warm place. 4. Done, you are amazing, waiting for roots. 02/10/2022 After another day, I sowed all the material in small pots of 0.15L - substrate coco+perlite. 07/10/2022 Germination 15 out of 19. Most plants show the usual cannabis leaf, one has a strong bastard trait, and some have slight distortions.

mutantfarmer 19/19 germinations. 15/17 plants show normal leaves, without distortions, while some have subtle differences in the leaves. DF#6 and DF#12 exhibit the ABC mutation in full, I think pollen from DB#15 got in (since the mother plant was DB#16), we'll see how they behave moving forward. I will provide a description of the phenotypes after determining the sex. Over the week, the plants received watering with a solution of 450-530ppm at 5.8pH. I started measuring the yield on the last watering on 14.10, and it showed 600-850ppm, 5.5-5.7pH across different plants. I thoroughly watered all with a solution of 450ppm, 5.8pH. A couple of plants showed slight signs of overwatering, while all the others were resilient and without visible issues. DF#10 and DF#19 took a long time to germinate, turned out to be weak plants and were discarded.

mutantfarmer 💨 Farm work. By the end of the week, I finally set up the ventilation (at the very start, the boxes were left open, then switched to 100m3 cubic fans from small tents). I knew that VENTS was a noisy thing, but after using S&P and its silent counterparts, it feels like the turbines of a spaceship. I tried to reduce the noise by packing one in a box with foam scatter and comparing how much the discomfort level changes. In the end, the changes were insignificant to stress over. It was a hassle to unpack the trial version back, so they'll work like this now. 👺 Issues Found 26.10 Throughout the week, I'm giving all the plants 520-560ppm and 5.7-6.0 pH. Output is 480-580 5.1-6.0. At some point last week, I noticed that the source water went from 7-7.5 to 8.0-8.5, and some plants (mainly most of the Vino Tinto strain and a couple of plants from Lemon Alien and cubic DC Kush) are showing pH issues. For some struggling plants, the output is between 5.0 and 5.2. Most plants in this cycle are not showing any problems. I think if the problem were with the solution or the entire coco, it would have affected each of the ~100 plants. So there must be some local reason affecting certain plants. I have a few hypotheses: unevenly washed and buffered coco; consequences of pest treatments; imbalance due to overwatering (again as a result of treatments). Just in case, I got a couple of Chinese pH meters (I drowned one on the very first evening) to check if everything is okay with my device. I found some minor discrepancies, but everything is fine, so the problem isn't there. I made sure that the plants aren't getting overwatered with the increased liquid volume and started to gradually water them. The process is moving slowly but surely; for example, with DC Kush, I corrected from 5.1 to 5.5 today. UPD 30.10 After a few days of working with the new pH meters, I found that my constant device is miscalibrated. In calibration solutions, all 3 devices show the same, correct numbers, but when measuring the solution, Milwaukee shows a flaw and indicates a pH lower or higher than needed. So if the new Chinese meters show 6.0, mine was at 5.5. Accordingly, when I watered at 5.8, I could have been pouring 5.2-5.3. I think due to improper storage conditions, I gradually damaged the electrode. 👽 Plant Condition All are showing active, strong growth, eating and drinking quickly. Due to rapid drying, it seems to me they will soon be catching constant salinity. I switched to watering twice a day and am actively preparing to assemble a watering system soon. As a result of discovering the issue with the pH meter and new measurements of output indicators, it turned out that the pH reaches 5.1-5.4. Since the plants are growing in the smallest containers of 0.15L and are actively drinking, I increased the watering volumes and occasionally water with a solution of reduced nutrient concentration to avoid salinity. I raised the nutrient levels from 500-550 to 580-630.

mutantfarmer Discovered Issues 🙉 Last week I talked about installing fans.... I couldn't handle the ventilation for even three days. I couldn't stand the noise from the turbines, turned it off, and decided to put it up for sale. The guys from the grow shop where I bought the whole set agreed to help with the sale. For now, I have temporary fans of 100m3 from the last cycle in the boxes, and tomorrow I'll order one that I think is quiet to try out. I'll update the results next week. 👽 Plant Condition In the first generation, my hybrid did show some slight leaf mutations. Most of them exhibit mild mutations to varying degrees, in leaf shape and skeleton structure: — Extra fingers on the leaves — Fingers overlapping each other — Deep cuts on the serrations Overall, nothing particularly interesting happened with the plants this week. They are all growing actively, eating well, and drinking quickly.. Some are developing sexual characteristics, but they are still not distinguishable. Throughout the week, they received a solution of G.H.Feeding Grow + pH Down, with readings of 5.9-6.2pH and 650-710ppm. + I conducted a Simplex Vega treatment on the leaves.

I eliminated the plants that don't have the characteristics I need or have unwanted traits. After inspecting all, I stomped. 🍀Pheno Hunting I divided the DF by phenotypes (as much as possible with a small sample), I suspect Pheno 1 is dominant. 2 and 3 show recessive traits. Pheno 1 #1, #4, #5, #7, #9, #11, #18 — Bushy, branch well, medium stem, average internode distance, mutations appear on the leaves in the form of extra fingers. Pheno 2 #3, #13, #14, #15 — Dominant vertical growth, poor branching, medium-thick stem, average internode distance, mutations appear on the leaves in the form of extra fingers. Pheno 3 (Eliminated) #2 #17, #8 — eliminated — Dominant vertical growth, hardly branch, thin-medium stem, average-long internode distance, mutations appear on the leaves in the form of extra fingers. 💧Watering Throughout the week, they received a solution of G.H.Feeding Grow + pH Down, with readings of 5.8-6.2pH and 700-780ppm, twice a day.

mutantfarmer I haven't really been working with the plants in the usual sense. I had to "reset" my farm, actually because of preparing for this, so I didn't have time for reports during November. Throughout the process, all the plants were under regular room lighting for 5 days, and a couple of times everyone had to lie in boxes in a crumpled state. Due to the factors mentioned above, I reduced the nutrient concentrations and for a week, they received a solution of G.H.Feeding Grow + pH Down, with readings of 5.8-6.2pH and 650ppm, every 2-3 days.

Bro, you won't believe it, I'm having the same issue. About a week ago, the pH in my tap water jumped from 7.4 to 8.0, and it's become a real problem because lowering the pH raises the ppm from 110 - 140 to 370 - 400, plus I still need to squeeze in the nutrients.

@mutantfarmer, bro, the problem has been found, my "awesome" ppm/ph meter has seriously gone out of calibration, and I could only calibrate the ppm, not the ph. In the calibration solution of 6.86, it showed 8.86. I decided not to stress and just subtract 2 units now, but I'm not sure it works that simply. The ppm is fine, but how did the mandarin survive a ph around 4 for a month? I can't figure it out?
