VEG WEEK #4-May 1-7 (days 22-28 from sprout)
5/3-Did some trimming under the canopy to keep things clean and encourage growth at canopy level.
5/5-Plant is handling things very nicely. I've had good experience with Mango Smile and a cross of Mango w Creme de La Chem and Double Grape. I'm hoping this one works as well. Off to a great start.
FLOWER WEEK #1-May 8-14
-Entered the pre-flowering stage. Switch to Flower nutes. Going to start light and increase a bit more gradually. Using Bud Ignitor this first week to see if I can hit the shift just right. EC=.96
BLOOM WEEK #3-May 22-28
5/23-Plant is really stretching. Almost 36 inches now. Lots of developing bud sites. Increased nute mix incrementally. EC=1.2, PPM=850, Ph 6.0
5/26-I can't believe how many bud sites this plant has. I think I hit the right timing on the Bud Ignitor to Big Bud transition. 40 inches tall now.
5/28-Great week. Plant grew another 3 inches to 43 inches. Still not even one curled leaf or yellow spot. Keeping the nute mix lean and mean. Runoffs have been consistently matching what I put in. I have added an extra pinch 2ml of Big Bud and Rhino Skin to the water tank in addition to the current load. Might continue to do that if I see no ill effects. The thought is bigger buds and stronger stalks to hold them. I've done some additional LST to keep the canopy wide open with inserting stakes and pulling biggest stalks back to control height and also to make sure lots of light is going to the interior branches. So far, this cross between 3 Bears OG and Mango Smile is performing better, growing higher, and producing more bud sites earlier on than any of my previous grows, the last 2 of which have both yielded between 5 and 6 oz dry. I think this one is going to be even bigger. Fingers crossed. Let's see how she closes.
Bloom Week #4-May 29-June 4
5/29-Buds are starting to show first signs of frosting up. Using same nute feed as last week and spiking it a bit by adding a couple ml here or there of Big Bud and Rhino Skin. Had to raise the light to its highest level to accomodate the height of this plant. I THINK its stopped growing higher now. Looking forward to a big week of development.
5/31-added a bit more Big Bud Coco to the mix ( 4 to 5ml/gal) and traded out Rhino Skin for Bud Candy. EC rose to 1.3, PPM to 950, Ph 6.0 . Buds are getting frostier every day and are starting to bulk up and stack up.
6/2-Did a little trimming of some buds that were just not getting enough light to get big
6/4-Good week of development. Looking for more thickening and frosting on the buds next week. So far so good.
Bloom Week #5 -June 5-11 (Days 57-63 from sprout)
6/5-Up nute load to 1,100 ppm and EC 1.45 and Ph 6.0. Noticed that runoffs were coming in high at EC 1.65 and ppm 1,200 and the ph had risen to 6.6. So I decided to dilute the solution by adding in a couple of gallons of RO water at 6.0 ph into the reservoir. Checked the EC in the tank which is now 1.2 ish and 6 ish on Ph. Ran 1 gallon of straight RO water at 6.0 through the plant to bring runoff in line. Now the runoff was EC 1.25, ppm 850, and Ph 6.0. I like where everything is at now as we head into the last 3-4 weeks of flowering.
6/7-Day 59 from Sprout-First signs albeit small signs of pistils turning red. At first I thought this plant would be done earlier rather than later but now I'm thinking this one might have another 3-4 weeks in her. Getting frostier by the day so it will be interesting to see how things shape up over the next couple of weeks.
6/10-Things are looking good. Still monitoring EC which got a bit high again. So I diluted the mix a bit in the reservoir and also added a bit of time to the 3X a day cycle to make sure runoff is washing away excess nutes. Buds are getting a few more red pistils each day, adding frostiness, and getting a bit more dense.
6/11-9 weeks since sprout and I'm getting ready for the final stretch. The buds are continuing to make some serious frostiness. Probably 20% of the pistils are now turning red. Buds are getting a bit more dense and starting to stack a bit closer. Next week I'll be switching Big Bud Coco for Overdrive to see if we can fatten things up before flush.
6/12-BLOOM WEEK #6 (June 12-18)
6/14 (Day 66 from sprout)-Set nutes for final stretch. Took out Big Bud and replaced with Overdrive. Added some Rhino skin. Bought a new Growline ph, ec, tds meter to replace a less reliable 2 devices. New mix is Ph-6.06, EC-1.43, Ppm-950. Buds are getting more dense already. Leaves are starting to show first signs of going yellow. Trichomes are busting out and buds are getting super frosty. I'm looking to get to Day 77 before I start a flush. Right now it looks like we're on track. In the past I think I've always gotten a little impatient to harvest. This time I want to err on the side of showing too much patience.
6/16-Was starting to get runoffs 300 ppm higher than inputs so I did a little mini-flush to get the runoffs in line for the final push. Some of the smaller branches were starting to really sag under the weight of the buds which are getting much denser now. So I put a couple more support sticks into the pot and tied them up to prevent the sagging. Byproduct will be more light as well. Finally, The tallest 4 to 5 branches are clearly a few days ahead of buds further down the plant and will likely be ready for harvest sooner. This time around I'm contemplating harvesting those ahead of the rest. I think if I do this the remaining 'canopy' is much more level and I can get the lights lower and provide more juice for the rest of the buds.
6/18-Lots of bud development this week. Everything got fatter, frostier, and more dense. Leaves are starting to turn yellow and less white pistils now towards the top of the plant. Still have a ways to go in the middle of the plant. Still don't see any amber and there are still lots of clear trichromes. I think we have another week to 10 days before flush and then harvest. This time around I want to make sure I'm seeing all the signs before I chop.
6/12-BLOOM WEEK #7 (June 19-25)
6/20-Leaves are really starting to get yellow now. Almost all the white pistols have turned red. Trichomes are turning cloudy although no amber yet. Rotated pot around to get light to some new places. Keeping an eye on the tallest branches for amber. I need to get these cut down first and give the rest of the buds a chance to soak up more light. Once these branches are harvested I can lower the lights down and get more light on the remaining buds which is alot.
6/22-Did some defoliation to get rid of leaves that were blocking light to lower buds. Very first hints of amber trichomes appearing. I think we have another week to 10 days left before harvest but this time around I'm going to be patient until I see alot more yellow leaves and at least 30-40% amber trichomes.
6/23-Leaves are turning yellow. Trichomes are all cloudy now and some are slowly turning amber. Started flushing the plant with Flawless Finish. First flush reduced ppm from 1,260 to 1,000. Changed the watering schedule to 2X daily instead of 3 but added a few seconds on to each cycle which will run about 2 gallons a day on the plant. Harvest is coming soon. I'm thinking 7-8 ounces is what I'm going to get based on recent harvests with Mango Smile and Forum Stomper which netted 5-6 oz per plant and neither of them were nearly as big nor had as many bud sites as this baby.
6/24-2nd flush reduced ppm to 450 and third flush reduced it to 300 ppm. This morning early I chopped down the 6 biggest and tallest branches. All of the trichomes were cloudy with hints of amber starting to show. The buds were all very dense (almost like golf balls). The wet weight (net after trim and container) was 293 grams. The buds were huge and very, very sticky. Even with these large branches gone the plant still looks large and full. I lowered the lights down to 14 inches and now the PPFd is between 1,000 near the top of the plant and 600 ish towards the bottom. I'll monitor the other buds each day this week and remove branches as they are ready working my way down to the lowest buds. I'm sticking with my prediction of 7-8 oz when all is said and done.
I'll include the numbers from 1st cut next week when I expect that the whole plant will be harvested by then.
Bloom/harvest Week #8-
6/26-Flushing continues with ppm nearing 200 now. Did another chop which netted Wet weight 157.3 grams/5.61 oz. Still a ton of buds left which are getting more light now and getting denser.
6/27-Did chop #3 which netted more fat, dense, sticky buds with wet weight 122.7 grams (net)/4.57 oz. That brings total yield to date up to 20.64 oz which based on recent experience will net around 5 oz dry. And I'm thinking there is at least another 2 plus oz left to harvest. This is the first time I've harvested a plant in stages but in this case it seemed appropriate given the height and width of this plant. It appears that the 2nd topping I did this time is clearly leading to a bigger yield and chopping in stages is giving the lower buds a chance to fatten up.
6/28-Stopped watering the plants now as I expect to harvest the rest of the plant in 3 days. Woke up this morning to find that another branch had just fallen over so I decided to do another cut (#4) on buds near the top of the plant are definitely starting to show amber. That netted another 123.8 grams/4.42 oz (net wet weight) bringing the total harvest to date to 25.06 oz. And there is still a decent amount of buds left to harvest.
This plant was amazing from start to finish. I was able to train it with no issues from early on. This is the first time I topped a plant TWICE. No issues with this plant. It grew higher and wider than any previous plant. And seemed to have an endless supply of big fat buds. Love Mephisto Genetics!!
This Mephistio grow of one of their bonus seed packs was far and away the best I've had so far. I had to check the numbers twice to believe the yield. The plant grew so big and wide with so many buds sites I had to harvest it in stages from the penthouse to the basement. Each mini harvest allowed me to move the lights lower and get more frost and more density on lower buds. Some of the buds were so big and fat that they caused branches to snap and fall. Can't wait to try the smoke.
@renbuds, doing pretty well. One plant is super vigorous and already showing pretty colors. The other three are taller are a little slower to stacking and showing colors. Check out my diary I update it almost daily
Heck yeah, you nailed it. I've got 2 freebie packs.
1 is 24 karat crossed with super orange haze
2 is strawberry nuggets crossed with livers bx1...
Definitely got me interested on trying a freebie now!
