May 18: third attempt at cloning. Both previous attempts failed because it got too hot. Pump running continuously heats up the water too much so a cycle timer is needed. Someone said one minute on and five minutes off works without overheating. Two previous attempts it got to well over 30 C which is too much. Try again.
June 24: the mother plant was struggling a bit when these cuttings were taken so that’s likely why these are a bit slow.
It has been a cool and wet June here.
Sep 7: surprise late season hailstorm shredded a lot of leaves on these clones.
Sep 8: harvested first round from these clones. These and other plants were force flowered at the same time but these clones are done earlier than the other Candyland plants. The buds on the clones were very nice. First round 550 g wet.
Sep 12: second round from clones 200 g wet.
Sep 16: third round 568 g wet for total of 1,318 g wet so far.
Sep 28: took last batch of 404 g wet buds for total of 1,722 g total from all of the Candyland clones. Not sure how many Candyland clones there were but likely around 10.
Nice plant was easy to clone. First time cloning so it was all an experiment in technique and timing. Candyland is an excellent smoke and highly recommended plant.
Best wishes for your clones Northern_Ent! I did a diary with my clone king aerocloner a while back. I had the same problem with the water temp getting too warm. I ended up sticking a thermometer through one of the colored inserts to measure the temp of the spraying water and whenever I would see the temp inching up I would throw in a sealed water bottle filled with frozen water and it would bring the temp right down. I kept 4 frozen bottles in the freezer and would rotate them. That way I could leave the pump running nonstop, worked like a charm 👊
@Sour_D, thanks. I read somewhere where that running a cycle timer on for 1 and off for 4 would work. It’s cool/cold here in the spring and I thought the 1:4 might not be enough to keep the water warm. Anyway, two fails were due to high heat (and likely too much H2O2 the first time) and knowing that I should be able to make it work. I’ve never tried cloning before and hopefully I can get it to work. Cheers.
