Seedlings are just starting to show a bit more growth, I've lifted them up a bit closer to the light too, probably Pot on to final cloth pots next weekend. 17 June - Re-potted the Northern Lights, roots were just starting to pop out of the base of the plant-pot and there are signs of pre-flowers already near the end of week 3 so I better give it room to grown, made a mix of 4 parts Coir / 1 part Vermiculite / 1 part perlite / 1 part worm castings / 2 Tbsp Diatomaceous earth in an 8L Cloth pot.

Re-potted the Northern Lights the other day in a mix of 4 parts Coir / 1 part Vermiculite / 1 part perlite / 1 part worm castings / 2 Tbsp Diatomaceous earth in an 8L Cloth pot, I'm probably going to restrain myself from feeding this week and just see what happens with this mix, I feel I could add 2 parts Pearlite to open the structure up a bit more as I was surprised how dense the Coir actually is when wet, and 2 parts worm castings might have been a better idea too. I've got another 8L pot on its way in the post so will re-pot the Afghan in a day or two. Small pre-flowers on the NL already but none on the Afghan *Re-potted 21 June, given 4ml/Litre Canna Coco A+B*. Just spotted too that I'd set the Northern Lights as Sensi Seeds when actually it was White Label seeds.

Its only when you look at the photo's each week that you spot they have actually grown a bit, though I still feel like my grows are a few weeks behind that of similar grows on here. Other than the single leaf on the NL they are looking healthy and I'm doing some subtle LST leaning the plants over. Water & Feed about twice a week the Coir is retaining quite a bit of liquid.

Check out the Northern Light leaf, is this single leaf thing to do with pH? Was I a little bit too soon with the Nutrients for the small plant?

I can't tell which leaf that is... a new one? an old one? If it's only one leaf and it doesn't spread, I wouldn't worry too much about it, especially if it's one of the first leaves the plant grew... And no, you haven't started your nutes too early - probably just about right! Don't worry that this plant isn't performing the way others have... each strain is different and even each seed within the same strain can be different. It sounds to me like you are really "reading" your plants and doing a good job of it! I will tell you, though, that I fall into the same trap thinking "oh, these plants are SO tiny, they will never get as big as (fill in the blank)" ... Don't worry - you're doing really well! Good luck!

Northern Lights is showing steady progress and its pushing flowers out frantically already, 2 bends of LST so far. Afghani is a lovely lush green things, broad leaves and shows signs of growth every day now, the same 2 bends of LST so far I think I'm going to end up with a sort of spiral shape plant, small pre-flowers in places but its focusing on veg which I'm pleased about. I'll continue the 4ml/L Coco A+B this coming week. I'm enjoying the growth of these plants much more than my first diary, feels like proper progress 😎 I'm considering getting some other Canna Nutrients (Boost, CalMag, Rhizotonic), though not sure I need to as it might be the weird need to throw all the things at it! I should probably spend my limited funds on an extractor for better airflow, temp and humidity.

The Northern Lights is still a compact plant, its putting its energy into flowers, some subtle LST. The Afghani #1 is a beast in comparison, mega lush growth, if I checked the tent 4 times a day you would see it had grown 4 times each day! I had to LST it twice yesterday, and there is so much growth I'm considering some defoliation in the middle to let more light and air get to the flower sites, any thoughts on this please leave a comment. I feel like the Afghani would be a great candidate for topping on future grows. Thanks

The Northern Lights is a very compact plant, its initial growth seems to have stopped and its putting its effort into flowering and filling the buds out. The Afghani #1 is a beast, the LST is making a very bushy plant and its drinking 2L of feed every 2 days at the moment, if it wasn't for the other plants in the tent I'd have put the SCROG net up. I'm enjoying the LST on this as its rather like Rapid Bonsai, training in weeks rather than years!

Both plants, added Canna Rhizotonic and Canna CalMag to the feed. Northern Lights - Still a very compact plant, buds filling out and a few brown Pistils. Afghani #1 - The plant looks to have finished with its growth spurt and is putting its energy into the flowering and bud development. Beast of a plant! All the Afghani needed was a little LST and its bushy as hell. No more training on either plant now, just going to let them do their thing.

Northern Lights is probably not a million miles away from thinking about harvesting, 2-3 more weeks maybe? Afghani #1 is still filling out its buds nicely. Drinks approx 2L every 2 days. I've halved the nutes on both plants.

Northern Light - not much more growth happening, waiting for trichomes to change. I may stop feeding this week Afghani - It can drink 2L of water/feed each day, buds putting on weight, a few lower leaves dying off.

Northern Light - I'm probably going to chop this after its next watering (No feed), its well passed its stated growing period, I think a mix of clear, cloudy and a few Amber Trichomes. Afghani #1 - Lightly fed today and I've done a little Defoliation just to open up air and light to a few lower bud sites, mostly still clear trichomes but hopefully not a million miles away from harvest time, hopefully within 2-3 weeks if I'm lucky. Smell is soft sweet lemon.

For such a small plant its created a lot of bud, the main cola is quite a handful. Very subtle scent on this grow, quite sticky. You may think I should have left this a little longer judging by the trichomes as its only the occasional amber with some cloudy and clear ones.

Its showing signs of the plant pulling the good stuff out of the leaves and I think we are getting some cloudy trichomes, no more feeding now just water and hopefully I can get this harvested in a week or two.

I was tempted to harvest this today, the plant has definitely started drinking a bit less and the fan leaves are getting all the nutrients sucked back into the plant and starting to turn yellow. Trichomes are still a mix of Clear, Cloudy & a few Amber ones. 1 more week the time to chop I think.

Afghani #1 - No photo but I have just found a single male flower, a small yellow banana shaped thing that puffed out a little cloud of pollen when I poked it. I think this means its time to harvest before it decides to start putting energy into seed.

The plant in above photo is about 7-10days overgrown imo...reason why I think this is the lengthy foxtail on the top that is incheslonger than the main bud...leaving them this long will weaken the smokes THC so that all you really get is a thwack in the head stoning, dry mouth and eyes and sometimes even couch lock although that mostly happens for big bad ass Indicas (Indica- In Da Couch). In short I wouldn't leave it this long, it will stop the plants getting to a stage where they feel they need to produce bananas to complete their life cycle and create seeds. Its a sign of stress or the stress of reaching the end of its natural cycle. Have you got any Macro pics so we can see the Thrichomes? My guess is they are around 80% amber...maybe even more...another sign it has been left too long. I really hope that helps and wish you the stickiest of buds!

Great growing plant, absolutely covered in buds, I've hung the whole roughly trimmed plant up to dry in the grow tent, I'm looking forward to having some dry so I can do a smoke report. This plant shot out a male flower so thats the reason for me chopping it today. 04/09/22 - grow area is too humid so I have trimmed up the plant and bagged up to take to a drier environment. 13/11/22 - Afghani #1 now cured and trying the @Northern_Ent way of doing an alcohol freezer extraction for tincture. Just look at that vivid green colour! Time will tell if this works, non-decarboxylated bud.

I have a small monkey fan and the extractor turned on with a tent vent open for airflow but I'm currently getting 70% Humidity. The whole trimmed plant is hanging in the tent. Would I be better chopping up the plant and paper-bag drying it instead?

Thanks guys, no dehumidifier just the extractor fan and Monkey fan for air movement. Its weird warm damp weather here in the UK. I might be best chopping the branches off then and drying somewhere else, that will give me an excuse to do a full clean of the tent ready for the next grow.

If you already have a dehumidifier, trim all the shade leaves off of the plant. Only leave nuggets and sugar leaves. If that doesn't drop the relative humidity enough, cut all of the branches off of the trunk and hang them. Good luck!

And btw, I assume you have a dehumidifier going... but all you have to do is lower that humidity to 60%... ideal drying conditions are 60F and 60% humidity...
