While I wait for the health of my photoperiod plants to be determined after a very unfortunate spider mites presence from nursery plants, I figured I could run some autoflower varieties.
I've always loved mephisto and get great results with them.
It'll be ran using the Mars Hydro SP6500 and 2x4x6 growtent. Soil and preferably organic nutrients.
The germination went great and popped after 2.5 days.
Ugh what an awesome week. Its been too long since I ran something from seed. I got too used to cloning to enjoy running all new genetics. You fall in love with some plants.....but you can't stick with them forever, that's too boring.
This is a Mephisto cross, not the true Samsquanch. I do have the plain samsquanch and its great. However this seed is Samsquanch X Forum Stomper. There wasn't an option for that as the strain listed.
She's vigorous, strong and fast sprouting. I think it was 2.5 days before she was out with unopened leaves.
I'm loving the new stuff on grow diaries, statistics on success rates for various media etc. Love it.

Week 2-
She spent the majority of the week still in her peat pod and homemade humidity dome. But I finally got her very gently placed into some very soft loose soil. We'll see how quickly she takes off.

Well she had a tiny tumble and so thats slowed her down ever so slightly this week. But she'll recover. No instant death so thats a small victory in itself when a pot falls or gets dropped.
I'll just keep giving her TLC and good quality light and a warm room and im sure we'll be back on track in no time.

Its been a good week.
I forget how quickly an autoflower can grow and how much difference even a few days can do in their size or leaf structure.
At the start of the week she was still feeling tiny, but at the end her leaves were reaching out to the edge of the pot. I think she's gonna be a fairly small plant when she's done growing, but some of my best autoflower buds came from the smallest plants, they had perfect, dense and covered in trichomes.

Whoo... WEEK 5 of Veg.... I think we might be getting close to a cycle change. Freebie seeds, or tester seeds are always a more interesting run because there's always less data to go off. You're kinda growing blind, especially with an autoflower, they could flip at anytime. I tried a tiny bit of LST on this week, just a single side bend, just to attempt to open up those side leaves to extra light. I didn't want to get to rough with her so we'll see how she responds.
She's staying pretty healthy and I'm happy by that because I haven't really given her excessive special treatment. I really regret the drop because that's the one thing that really threw off this plants potential with regards to height that is. I am excited to see her bud structure though...will she be like a little pit bull? Short but strong and mighty?
We'll see.
She's loved her full spectrum LED and I am constantly reminded on how much better they are than the previous lights I used. Color/light spectrum, being able to dim, the quality photos you can get without moving them. The only struggle currently is with heat. I'm still sitting about 60% power and wow if I'm not careful about using exhaust fans it can get up to the low 90 degrees range. But if you keep reasonable distance and keep air moving, even that is tolerable by the plants.

Happy growing everyone. ✌️
