Did the stem purpling end and reverse? I am not among those, and they are many and highly opinionated, who believe purpling is always a bad thing. And if purple flowers are so desirable, why are stems considered mag deficient if that is the only symptom? I’ve seen it regardless of nutrients, and never noticed anything negative as a result. What’s your take now that you’ve addressed it?

@growdoctordc, yeah I’ve used synthetic salts for my first few years and after learning more I’m slowly getting away from them. Almost all nutrients out there are synthetics, and usually the schedule they have on their bottle is way too much.

@diamondtrichomes, They look green, but then I couldn’t see purpling in pics from previous weeks. Congratulations on fixing it. And of course use up what you have on hand. The micros mag sounds great! I’ve often wondered why epsom is so frequently recommended when it has in its name the enemy of plant nutrition- SALT

diamondtrichomescommented6 years ago
@growdoctordc, mag def probably isn’t too big of a deal if it doesn’t get out of control, and I’ve heard of some strains having a purple color to them but this is still veg, not flower. I think I reversed most the purpling. What do you think? . This PASTE I’m using requires magnesium bc it has very little. I’m going to be purchasing Microbeneficials magnesium soon but I have a bunch of Epsom Salt to use up First.

She's looking lovely and green! Sucker punch is one of my favourites! Careful on the watering though.. :)

@AutoSeeds, ah ya I’m stoked! 😁😍

Lookn good! I was giving this some more thought and agree given that they’re autos I think it’s safe to say that a 3 gal. Size is enough for full root development at harvest (at least with most autos). Well done and lookn forward to the finish! 👍

Both plants look fantastic! I couldn't tell the difference on the bud shots!

diamondtrichomescommented6 years ago
@Quexos, yah man check out @fastbuds @mephisto and @autoseeds. They all are around 70 days seed to harvest!!!
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@diamondtrichomes, Man that is a short flowering cycle. One of the Indica Hybrids I'm growing supposedly has a 4 week flowering cycle. I just can't see it happening. The other one is 9 weeks. That seems more reasonable to me. You've already learned which strains to grow in order to speed up your process. I need to grow more breeders/strains. I'd like to have a rotation of plants that flower pretty quickly after veg.

@Quexos, yeah!! It’s pretty dam amazing. I just chopped some photoperiods and they begged for 10 weeks, flowered for 8 and are the same size as a couple of my autos!! 😱

this is so fascinating to follow.. kinda wanna try and do a comparison diary of my own.. i did topping and all kinds of training vs. only lst..
diamondtrichomes
diamondtrichomescommented6 years ago
@Magich, honestly they were so close that either method was good. I topped some that did better than LST and one that I didn’t top out performed one that I did. On my new stuff I didn’t train or top any and all these plants are bigger.
Magich
Magichcommented6 years ago
@diamondtrichomes, what where your results? i got wayy better results on only LST, on my LSD-25 from Fastbuds!
diamondtrichomes
diamondtrichomescommented6 years ago
@Magich, ya do it!! I did some of that on the FastBuds strains I finished last month!

I love seeing this type of side by side grow comparison! Looks great!
diamondtrichomes
diamondtrichomescommented6 years ago
@Will_journals, I disagree with your opinion, but I’d like to hear the explanation of why?? What happens when the plastic 3 gal out performs the 7 gallon smart pot?
diamondtrichomes
diamondtrichomescommented6 years ago
@Stinkfox, thanks!! Stay tuned and follow along 😁

Fabric vs. plastic (by the looks of it) aren't a comparable side by side
Quexos
Quexoscommentedweek 66 years ago
Both plants are stacking buds nicely. Those are going to be very full colas. Again, though, I think the 3g is outperforming the 7g.

diamondtrichomescommented6 years ago
@Quexos, it may be the media. The 3 gallon is coco loco and the 7 gallon is a light blend organic soil

cool comparison! Hate to say it but I’ve seen similar results between my 5gals and 3gals (smart pots). Really weird. Looking forward to the outcome! 👍
diamondtrichomes
diamondtrichomescommented6 years ago
@TheBudWhisperer, yeah the difference isn’t much. I may just go with the 3 gallon pots for future grows
Quexos
Quexoscommentedweek 56 years ago
I don't know about you, but it looks like the 3-gal. version is doing better than the 7-gal!!
diamondtrichomes
diamondtrichomescommented6 years ago
@Quexos, at this point I agree!! Guess we will see how the bud fattening ends up
Quexos
Quexoscommentedweek 46 years ago
Gogo little guy! Neither plant is vastly outperforming the other at this point though. I thought the 7 would be measurably taller!
diamondtrichomes
diamondtrichomescommented6 years ago
@Quexos, ya same! Still a few weeks left so we’ll see on bud density but close one so far

Quexos
Quexoscommentedweek 106 years ago
Nice job! Both plants came out great! Do you have any clues as to why the smaller pot did significantly better?
diamondtrichomes
diamondtrichomescommented6 years ago
@Quexos, makes sense for sure. Another thing is I grew with a 315 CMH in a 4x4 tent. I bet if you had a 1000w light, the plants would do better in a larger pot
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@diamondtrichomes, Interesting observations. Autos don't have enough time to take advantage of the extra space. I guess a 5 gallon pot would be the next step. I've read where other growers swear by 5 gallon pots for their autos. 7 gallons would definitely be better on a photo as long as you give the plant enough time to fill out its space. I'd be careful keeping 3 gallons pots with them and trying to do the exact same veg period. I'd worry that the 3 gallon would be root bound by the mid flowering.
diamondtrichomes
diamondtrichomescommented6 years ago
@Quexos, there’s two reasons I can think the smaller pot did better, one is the 3 gallon was on the edge in the center and the 7 gallon was on the edge in the corner so I suppose the one got a little more light. The second is there comes a point of diminishing returns. The plant didn’t live long enough to have the roots fill the entire pot so the 7 gallon was just too big for a plant that doesn’t go past 70-90 days. Just my thoughts! Thanks for following. Stay tuned for more
