Germination

Germination was quick. Soaked in water until they sunk and then put on paper towel. Had sprouts in about 36 hours and put them into sponges.

First grow, pretty inconsistent so far. Just learning and doing this first one for fun! At this point I had a few basil plants in the LYKO with five seeds and one in the aero garden with a decent sized basil. I’ve since removed some of the herbs but still have some mixed in.

You can see a lot of rust. I was adding the flora from bloom and probably way too much. I added an air stone this week and the next nodes started to look healthy. These got really leggy at one point and I tucked the stems into the sponge because they couldn’t stand on their own. Air stone added day 10. Hydro farm active aqua ascm. Aapa 3.2 L pump.

Read so much the last few days to understand what I’m doing and what I need to do to get these plants healthy. I stopped adding the bloom and dumped the current water. Added all three floragrow nutrients and cal mag based on another aero garden diary. Seemed to have the same problem I had at the beginning with the rust. Changed the water this week and added geh nutes. Added shots of ph and tds/ec New nodes all coming in really green and healthy. Super excited to see more and more come each week. Another grower friend encouraged me to wait another week before topping. This strand is meant to be a smaller plant and great for outdoor so I imagined that doing the full grow indoors should be fine. I had one seedling “die” on me, my guess bc of the nutrients. I added it to a pot of flowers hoping it would take, will update along the way. Trimmed the bad foliage up also

Should I trim the rusted leaves and small sprouts? On other plants I would get rid of them to keep the plant healthy, is that normal on weed plants?? They are starting to droop and I wonder if they’re holding the growth back. The plants plants 25 days in and not growing rapid.

You need to dump the fluids and start over. Have your ppm @ 150 and ph @ 5.5-5.8 Also get your rh in the 60-70% range. 3 days after the change cut off all the fucked up foliage. Cheers!

Alright, by now your laughing at me or just about will be. I’ve spent the past three nights obsessing over how to get my seedlings back on track from their stunted growth. Meanwhile taking care of the one plant that took off nicely. I trimmed up the spotty leaves again and removed all of the other plants from my aero garden into the LYKO. I left two, in very bad shape seedlings in there in hopes something got happen. Took the healthy ones and moved them in with the mama that’s doing well. I noticed their roots are red.. but not rotten. They look salvageable so I’ve cleaned them and added hydro guard in hopes to repair them and plan to add some rapid start root enhancer when it comes in the mail this week. I’ve cleaned the water and the entire machine before “repotting” into the Aerogarden. Everything looks nice besides the shit red roots. You can see in the good one that where I trimmed the node there are more waves coming in and new nodes already. I think we’re almost ready to top this one but I’m going to wait a bit so I can create a clone from the topping in a week or two. I also added a fan and moved my airstone into the Aerogarden. I got so upset I stunted these that I went out and bought new seeds as well and you can see my other diary germinating. Will keep y’all updated. Thanks for the support!!

What’s up with these roots?? They don’t seem rotten but they definitely have some trama from over nutrienting them. Any help? I’m adding hydro guard and root rapid start this week to combat and bring these seedlings back to life. Any help is awesome! Thanks growmies

It could be just root stain.GH nuturents can do that. But they do look rotten. Thoroughly clean your hands and feel the roots. Are they slimey? If yes then spray them with 3% hydrogen peroxide. And do a water change adding 3ml/l hydrogen peroxide. Repeat 2-3 days later. Hydrogen peroxide will kill hydro guard so start using it after you clear up the root rot. My guess is light leaks from your net pots is the cause. Or tos above 70f. Good luck Happy Growing

Please check the latest photos. After treating roots with hydrogen peroxide to kill root rot and replacing water my leaves are droopy and not recovering. I’ve got ph back to 6.2 and changed water and nutes. But I’ve got a bad feeling we’re in for a backwards ride with these guys.

you had a suggestion which you liked about dropping your ppms and ph 7 days ago. whay havent you done that? why are you feeding bloom nutes to vegging plants? with those water temps there is almost no chance you can get away with it, rot is gonna get ya. have you thought about soil or even hydro with coco? coco dtw or a similar setup could work out much better for you.

I really screwed up last week. I put all of the little plants with root rot into the aero with the only successful seed and pretty much killed it. Lol I’m such an amateur. I moved all of my other veggies and flowers into the LYKO which has the same nutes from last week - just experimenting. So I tried a buncha stuff last week that were suggested from my questions from some awesome people. Eventually after putting everything in fresh water and giving up on one of them leaving it with the veggies I moved on and watched for a few days. Eventually the root rotted ones got really droopy with fresh water and no nutes. Out of nowhere the one I gave up on came back to life and started growing new roots! It’s doing ok and growing new nodes so ima just watch it and let it do it’s thing. I woke up hungover Sunday and decided to trim all the rotted roots as a last resort. I moved the stunted plants in with the veggies bec I had room for the three of them and left the tall one to recover in the aero garden. It’s got a strong stem and some great thick roots, over night it’s begun to grow more roots back so I’m optimistic. Cross yer fingers we make a comeback! Will keep ya updated thru the week. The Black eyed Katy is doing much better having learned my lessons as my first month as a grower. Thanks for everyone’s help!

Curious more than anything.. last week before I destroyed my little plants life that the nodes were bright green. Now they’re this purple, blackish ded looking color. My questions, what does this mean, is it repairable, should they be trimmed? Thank you wonderful experienced ppl!

It should recover once on track... i don't think you will need to do much other than fix consistency of your PPM. Strong LED can cause purple petioles, but what i see in diary leads me to a different suggestion. (read below) as far as trimming... at this stage i'd wait. a little stretch on lower limbs is a good thing at this point. Whether you top or LST etc. e.g. if you want only 4 top colas, top after 3rd node, remove bottom to, and LST until the 4 primary colas are all even in height... should be easy sailing from there. i only remove leaves that overlap and cause standing water on leaves and for general congestion. buds don't need light... leaves around buds need light. they just happent to also get it when ppl see the results they want to feel were caused by light hitting buds.. which don't produce nearly as much energy from photosynthesis as leaves.. significantly less. they are sex organs not solar panels... just like the don't store excess minerals (in re flushing doesn't help taste)... in genaral, "Less is more" ... have a reason to do it.. if oyu can't find one don't cut it off. So figure out your plan, then work backward from that to figure out what to cut and what not to. if you lollipop them, those initial axilary buds low on any limb are going to be cut off anywy... that's why i say a little stretch early is fine... even useful to help it catch up to same height, so apical dominance is shared across canopy. Removing that sort of trash early isn't bad. saves wasted resources, imho, but be on safe/conservative side. Can't undo pruning, lol. why are you alternating between 150-ish ppm and 1400+ ppm each week in diary? maybe, this is miscommunicating something? if so, adjust for that below. start using at roughly 750 ppm solution (t1.5EC using standard for US markets, google "electrical conductivity ppm" if not in north america.. assume CA and Mex have same source of cheap TDS probes) This will be a good starting point... perfectly find for younger plants. You maay find some want more or less, but probably within +/- 10% will keep 95-percent of plants happy. 1400-some is REALLY high. you are pushing limts of what will kill a plant (US standard EC conversion... refer to table if not in US). https://www.perfectgrower.com/knowledge/knowledge-base/ec-to-ppm-conversion-chart/ Use the guaranteed analysis lables to confirm and tabulate each molecule of importance. (manic botanix has a nutrient ppm calculator) since you are cycling with really low nutes and really high nutes, it's hard to know if it's lockout or deficiency. P-def givs the purple petioles and blueish tint to leaves. Strong LED can turn petiols purple and cause purple in stems too. i'd lean deficiency, because a hydro medium shifting ppm is an almost immediate effect. check out the ratios of nutes i use... soilless and hydro are the same in that sense. readily available in same proportions relative to any factor known/unknown that matters. i'd try to stay closer to 6pH as that gives more room for error.. you dip much below 5.8 and you are inviting problems or some esoteric mix required to mitigate influence of pH. You can go as high as 7 and probably not have much of an issue, tbh... but slightly acidic is supposed to be better. the screenshots in my diaries show lower values than what i use. When temps and RH are good, i use a low 700-some ppm mix. N can be as high as 140ppm in mature vege, but you want it near 120ppm in bloom to avoid any toxic build up, in my experience and roughly 6pH. The ratio of NPK Ca/S/Mg all can impact this... if all in a happy range, this should be a good ballpark concept to follow.

The one I gave up on is the only one doing good now. But she’s doing really good. I moved the sick ones out of the Aerogarden and into a pot outside with flowers and lavender and the big one to a cup of water by the window as a last hope for this week. If they die they die. Maybe the soil will be good for the stunted ones. I’m going to top this guy later this week more than likely. But at the same time I just wanna let it go a bit longer and see what it does since it’s been so resilient.

Ok ok I did it, I finally got a good one and topped it. LST the branches and it’s actually doing well! The rest I put in pots outside and ffs they came back! Supposed to be a good outdoor strain so no wonder. Pulled back on nutes when I changed water. This guy is goring wel.

Going wel. Started some more lst. Seeing so many new nodes after topping. Created a scog and bent the stem over to start some serious LST. Then didn’t like it much so I redid it with just tie downs. Clipped some older large leaves that had spots on them Outside ones still doing ok. Not thriving. Definitely stunted. Topped the ones in the green bucket and trying LST on the other outside.
