Welcome growers to my new diary.👋
This time I'm going for Bubba's Gift (Bubba Kush x God's Gift). I've won the seeds here on growdiaries. The nutrients I'm going to use are Remo Nutrients.
It's an indica dominante strain that grows slowly during veg, tends to keep short with not much stretching after the switch. So I'll probably veg a bit longer.
She doesn't like high RH and is not a big eater.
It took 4 days to germinate 4 seedlings. 1 seed didn't do anything, but that's okay cause I actualy just needed 4 plants.
In this first week they only got some tapwater and that's it.
The second week after seeding is on it's way. The 4 plants are staying pretty short, but they're looking great so far. It's an indica dominant strain, so I'm keeping that in mind.
They're is almost no difference between them. They look like 4 little green birds, flying low over the earth 😁
Started to give them some nutes. They're getting 40ml of water/ day each.
Week 3 after seeding. This strain is going to be very bushy one I suppose.
The 4 Bubba's Gift are staying low with short internodes so far. You can clearly see the indica dna 😉
Week 4 has started and a few days ago I've given them bigger shoes of 2 liter. They're staying bushy with indica sized leafs.
I have already removed the first leafs & shoots. Those shoots don't produce enough bud.
On day 26 I have topped them.
Week 5 for the Bubba's and they're doing great so far.
Definitely indica's when you look at the leafs and the bushy growth.
They also look quite the same so I don't expect any pheno's. But that's a bit early to say for sure.
I'm waiting for the Jack Herer's to be ready so I can put these Bubba's in growbags of 20 liter (about 5 ⅓ gallon)
Week 6 and no issues so far. I'm still waiting for the Jacks to be ready so I can finally put these Bubba's in the growbags.
I've applied some 4-way-LST, removed some lower shoots and the 3 fingered leafs to allow more light & air in the center of the Bubba's.
A few days ago I've repotted them in the growbags. 20 liter ones, must be plenty of room for the roots.
The bags were filled with fertilised soil, so I'm gonna stop giving Remo Grow. Remember that this strain doesn't need much food.
I'm keeping them low with the LST and I'm planning on vegging for some time.
Week 8 and still vegging. New light arrived and is up and running. It's a frame with 3 cob's (CXB3590) that pulls 200watt out the wall.
Been keeping them low and within a week or 2 I'll probably switch to flowering.
Week 9, still vegging. Probably the last week, maybe a bit more, and then I'll switch to 12/12. Well, I'm gonna do the switch spread over 2 days.
First day they'll get 17/7, second day 15/9 and by the third day it's 12/12 from then on.
Nutrients are still low with EC levels of 0.8 once a week. For the rest it's a mix of rain/tapwater (EC:0.3-0.4) Every 3 days they get some water.
They seem to love the new CXB3590 cob's and are finally picking up some growth. I've bought a second identical frame and both are now shining over the Bubba's. I've placed them 57cm (22 inches) above the plants and both are dimmed to 60%. So there's 240watt devided over 6 CXB3590 cob's.
Still keepking them low, but from now I'm gonna let them grow towards the scrOG where I can spread them further.
Well, they're taking their time. I still want them to be bigger before the switch so keep on vegging. Maybe another week?
Conditions are pretty much the same. Lights are dimmed at 70% (140watts per frame =280watts total)
This will probably be the last week of vegging. The canopy is starting to fill up, slowly but steady.
The stems are getting larger & pre-flowers are showing on all 4 Bubba's.
After 79 days I've switched to 12/12. Canopy is coming along nicely and is pretty full. Lets see how much they'll stretch these first weeks.
Nutrients are still grownutrients and pretty low. I also gave them some nettle water. Lights are dimmed at 75%, so there's a total of 300watt shining on the ladies. Can't wait to see the flowers appear 😍
Week 2 after the switch for these Bubba Gift ladies. And do they stay short!
They've stretched maybe a couple of centimters, not more. Nutrients are still grownutrients.
Lights are lowered to 44-43 cm and are now shining for the full 100% (400watt of Cree CXB3590)
Week 3 and the buds are starting to develop nicely. I gave them a bit too much water last week, so the leaves turned a bit yellow.
Reduced the amount of water and raised the EC levels a bit. Looks like they're getting more green at the top (where the nutrients go first) so let's hope that they're getting the right amount of nutrients right now.
I've seen other diaries where the harvest time varies between 45-60 days after the switch. I'm at day 19, so still got a long way to go. 😄
Just started to add some Remo Bloom along with Grow. Next week I'm gonna drop the Grow and will start adding Nature's Candy & AstroFlower.
Week 4 after the switch. Leaves are turning yellow and die. Way too soon...
I expect this when I flush, but now I'm rising the EC levels.
The positive part is that they're flowering pretty quick, so let's hope they keep up some more weeks.
Lots of leaves died this week and those remaining turned dark red/purple. I gave too much water for 1,5 weeks, so I think that's the reason.
Buds are still swelling and trichomes develop quickly. I've never seen a strain flowering this fast.
I think this would be a great strain for outdoors due to this short flowering periode.
Smell is really kicking in and it's pretty sweet😋 Hope they still keep going for some weeks...
Week n°6 after the switch and these Bubba Gifts are racing to get finished.
I've already been checking trichomes and most are still clear, with some turning cloudy.
Still feeding them, altough it's going to be the last week. Day 41 will be the last time. From then on it's just plain rainwater.
I'm thinking about harvesting the first one on day 50. This will be the one that went into flowering a bit sooner.
Week n° 7 and it's flushtime. Every other day they get 500ml plain rainwater.
One Bubba's Gift has started flowering a bit sooner, about a week sooner than the other 3. This one will be harvested first.
Buds are really dens & full with trichomes 😋
Bubba's Gift is a strain that takes time to veg, but once they start flowering things go fast.
The buds of this strain are not that big at the end, but they are dense & full with trichomes.
Not the biggest yielder, but that's probably due to some mistakes with watering.
The smell during harvest was sweet & flowerish.
The first impression is a very nice hash flavour and a heavy sweet mandarine orange with herb undertones smell.
The effect is relaxed on body & mind, no paranoia or other negative effects.
Flowers really fast! If you want a strain to grow outside then this is the one, especially when you're living in more Northern Hemisphere.
After 46 days the first Bubba was harvested and 4 days later the rest at 50 days flowering.
It took about 4 hours of trimming. Drying will be 5-6 days in a closet (50% RH - 21°C) and then they go into jars for curing.
Those buds are killer! My Bubba has similar looking buds, but, alas, much smaller and not as many. I'm harvesting my Bubba this weekend. She really looks done, but I have not seen any amber trichomes.
@Quexos, I've harvest the first Bubba today after 46 days of flowering.
She just looked ready, also under the microscope. Never saw a strain flower this fast 😮
Good luck with your harvest 👊
@Quexos, those are'nt pipe cleaners (altough great idea) but simple cord, same one I used for the scrog. The cushion is the protection cover of an electric cable that I stripped.
@CzAlmighty_Mark, I'm using led. 6 cobs CXB3590 (400watt) for flowering.
The first 7 weeks they were standing under a different light, also led but no cobs.
This was a full spectrum 1200w led light (pulled 315watt from the wall) but only half the leds were still working. So about 150watt of these purple leds for the first 7 weeks.
Nice job! I love the purple buds that this strain exhibits.
I really, really like the high for this strain! I want to grow it again just because I like the finished buds. It's hard to leave it in the jars to cure.
Beautiful looking buds. They were sticky as hell trying to wet trim! I had to pick the little sugar leaves off the scissors by hand! I'm sure my yield is a lot smaller than yours, but this was a nice little plant to grow.
