So this is my 3rd grow but my first one on here. I used the paper towel between 2 plates method lol I also plan to use peat pots so that I can just plant them directly into my Fox Farm Happy Frog soil. No nutes or anything yet. The Coast of Maine soil I got for early veg has some nutes but lower nutes. Didn't want to start with the Fox Farm soil as I feel it has too many nutes.

This grow WAS supposed to be a Granddaddy Purple, Bubba Kush and a bag seed from a Rainbow Runtz bag we smoked. I plan to top first and then LST til flower.

The leaves on Rainbow has started turning yellow. At first I thought they were getting too much light so I turned the light down some, that didn't help. Then I thought I might be overwatering, that didn't help, the Rainbow's yellowing got worse and now the GDP & BK are also starting to turn yellow. Then I read an article online about how I may be underwatering. I didn't think I was underwatering because I sprayed the plants multiple times a day and watered around the stem of the plants. Well it was underwatering. Rainbow didn't make it, couldn't recover. GDP1 & BK recovered remarkably. I decided to plant another GDP seed as I've got a ton of those seeds from ILGM, and she is GDP2. I put her seed directly into the Coast of Maine soil in a peat pot and covered it to keep it moist. She popped thru the dirt easily.

I decided to go ahead and top GDP1 & BK. I'm going to wait 3 or 4 days to make sure they fully recover from the topping and then I'm going to start LST. They've bounced back really well. GDP2 is growing in pretty good too.

So I've started low stress training, last week. Today we moved them into their larger pots. Going to continue on with the LST and may top one more time. GDP2 is just growing and happy. In a few weeks, I'll be topping her too to get her started LST. Got my tent... was hoping my additional fans and exhaust would arrive at the same time but I've McGyver'ed an exhaust set up for now lololol GDP1 is growing at weird angles. This is my first time topping and LST so this is going to take some getting used to. BK and GDP2 are beautiful.

My girls are doing fabulous in their new tent. I'm so excited about this grow, man... 6/20: So I topped GDP2... she's just entering her 4th week. She's growing so much faster than GDP1 and BK at this point. I was having watering issues during this point with them 2. I'm thinking I am just going to top 2 more times and not LST. Honestly I just don't feel like adding another LST lololol 😅😆😆 6/23: So I learned that I accidentally fimmed Lil GDP2 when attempting to top. Had my question answered pretty quickly and he was very helpful. So instead of creating 2 new colas, looks like I created 3... #winning 😊😊 It's only been 3 days since I topped GDP2 and her 3 additional colas are already growing in really well.

So... is it normal for the plants to "retop" themselves? I topped GDP2 like 3 days ago and now it looks as though what I cut off is growing back again. Should I top it again in the same spot?

you must have fimmed it. yeah you can cut that clean off. i never do fim, dont see the benefit of it. plants take longer to recover from it compared to topping.

I swear every time I LST, within a few hours, they are right back covering the spots I tied down and opened up. I haven't had to give them nutes just yet because of the FoxFarm soil. I try to wait about a month before starting to give nutes after transferring them to this soil bc this soil already has so many nutes in it already. At the rate they're growing, they're likely going to be in need of a feeding very soon. Plan to top GDP2 again in a few days. GDP1 and BK I may top a 3rd time but I haven't decided. I don't want them to get so bushy that the tent becomes too small. And yes I decided I'm not going to LST GDP2. I may tie her down some for light exposure but no bending and tying down like with GDP1 and BK. More updates to come as the week goes. 6/29: I topped GDP2 one more time. I made sure I didn't FIM this time lolol. I topped all 3 new stalks which should give me 6 more, I believe. BK, I defoliated her lightly yesterday, took off a lot of the really large fan leaves. You can't even tell I didn't anything now lolol They're growing big and beautiful especially GDP2 since I've decided not to LST. I did tie down one of her branches though to give more light to other lil potential bud sites. 😍😘😌 6/30: I tested the PPM of the run off water and it's still pretty high even though I haven't added any nutes at all to any of the water I've watered them with. Only pH'ed the water and that's it. I'll be holding off a little longer before feeding them. That FoxFarm Happy Frog soil is no joke... hot hot hot...

The girls have grown so much and they already smell pretty good. I'm trying to decide if I should SCROG. I have a trellis net but it's just a net, not the boxy thing that I've seen others with. What do yall think, should I SCROG? GDP2 is in her 5th week. If she were the same age as GDP1 and BK, I'd flip them next week but I'll try waiting at least another couple of weeks to give her some time to grow a little more although she's catching up with the other 2 height. I'll be posting more throughout the week. 7/4/22: Defoliation... I know it's needed but they're my babies.... lololol 7/7/22: Look at my girls... they don't look like they've recently been defoliated. You can tell which ones are the Granddaddy Purples... they have a purple tint to them. The Bubba Kush is super green... 😍😘😍

So I had some netting to possibly do SCROG... I wasn't going to do SCROG... but I've decided I'm going to. The bf did a big defoliation on Friday 7/8... I was so sad I didn't take any pics. I know I know it's needed but I still hate it lololol... They already don't look like he took so much off. The bottom of GDP2 has no stems or leaves at all, just the main stem. After I get the new netting it's time for flowering (ordered a smaller one bc the one I had could fit in this tent folded over 10 times and would still be too big). Once I get the SCROG set up, next weekend, I'll be switching over to 12/12. Getting ready for that now. 7/13 - Finallyy got my trellis netting today after a day delay. My poor girls look so uncomfortable bwuahaahahaha but I know it won't last long. I hope I'm doing it right. 😌 7/16 - Well my girls appear to be stressed, the reason, I'm not sure yet. I'm thinking it may have been the light. I bumped it up a few notches. I've since brought it back down again. I gave GDP2 another watering with a smidge of Calmag because she was the most droopy. I'm still going to be flipping them over to 12/12 tonight.

7/18: I was a little worried about the girls over the weekend because they started drooping and the leaves twisting. I gave them a good feeding of Big Bloom and they've completely bounced back. I switched them over to 12/12 Sunday night and lifted the lights a bit. So far... extremely happy with this grow. Best one yet so far. 😍😍 7/19: The bf did another large defoliation. I'm crying. Buwahhahaha jk... I hate it but of course I know it has to be done. 7/21: Of course my girls have already bounced back like the bf hadn't even touched them. They're doing pretty awesome right now. I'm very happy. I lifted the lights up some but boosted their power SLIGHTLY. Will be alternating Big Bloom, pH'ed water only, Calmag, pH'ed water only Calmag, pH'ed water only, Big Bloom for the duration of flower until a few weeks before harvest then pH'ed water only for flushing purposes before the harvest. 😊😚 7/23: The girls are thriving with my feeding, watering and calmag schedule. I'd attempted to tuck some of the branches again under the net but they aren't having it. They popped themselves right back free lololol 😍👊

They're getting so big. I'm hoping this week I'll start to see some flowers starting to form. Gave them a ph'ed watering only today. I'll be giving them water with calmag on Wednesday. 7/27 - They're finally budding up. YIPEE! This is my best grow batch yet! GDP1 and BK are about 11 weeks old and GDP2 is about 9 weeks old.

Lol I was too upset to add this week yesterday because the bf did another really HUGE defoliation. I know it needs to be done if I want a yield worth talking about but UGHHH I hate it lolol I'm a dork, don't mind me lolol In other news, the girls are still doing wonderfully on my water, calmag, feed schedule. Definitely going to keep with that schedule until flushing time. GDP1 and BK are about 12 weeks old. GDP2 is about 10 weeks old. I flipped them all to flower at the same time. 8/2: They're starting to fill back out... they smell like citrus with a slight side of feet bwuahahahhaaa 🤣😂🤣😂 8/3: We've got trichomes!!

My girlies are doing great. They're in their 4th of flower. I've noticed a lil bit of what looks like nute burn on their tips even though I've only been giving Bloom once a week. I've been giving them a lil calmag twice a week so I'm cutting out the calmag and just water only between feedings. So far so good! 😝 8/11 - They're thickening up but the nute burn is looking worse even though I haven't given them any nutes since last Friday. It's been straight pH'ed water only. PH of the run off water was about 6.5. I can definitely tell that the granddaddy purple plants has a longer flowering period just from the way the flowers on both GDP's are not getting as full as fast as the bubba kush is. Some of the GDP flowers are starting to show signs of purple... spotted a few purps on the BK too. I'm so excited for this grow. I know yall are sick of reading me say that by now bwuahahahahahaaha 😍😌

So I thought I had a case of mild nute burn but I haven't given the plants any Bloom or Calmag since last Friday, only water so I'm wondering if this is a nute burn issue now. Could it be my PH? Last I tested my run off it was at about 6.65. What's causing this?

I've got a sneaking suspicion you're dealing with a calcium excess.... it can often manifest itself as nute burn but it ALSO comes with dark brown blotches such as your first photo is showing... Is the top of your soil getting "crusty"??? I think I can also see signs of some droop starting on some of your leaves ... and a definite curling up of the leaf tips.. the combination of these elements would definitely point to a calcium overload. I would do a flush in any event. You KNOW something is wrong and this is the best way to kind of "reset the clock" as it were. And try to get the pH down to about 6.2-6.3 ... add in your Big Bloom nutes in your final gallon of the flush and let her dry out. (You can actually increase the Big Bloom significantly if you want... might obviate the need for calmag... generally, I use about 9tsps/gallon of Big Bloom at this stage and, instead of Grow Big, I use 1-2 tsp of Tiger Bloom). Going forward, if you feel she needs calmag, only give it to her once a week max.... she should be just fine! Good luck!

My poor girls... the calcium toxitity got worse before it got better. Even after the flush, the problem continued for a few more days so the leaves are worse for wear. I'm so upset about this. Ughh. I've had issues with every grow when it came to flowering. Unsure why. Last time I had pH issues, this time a calcium toxicity that causes a lock out of I believe at least phosphorus. They are on the mend now even though the damage has been done to the leaves. Their buds have already fattened so much more since the actual flush last week. The leaves are just terrible though. At this point I'm just hoping to come out with an ok enough yield so that this whole thing won't have been a waste. I learned a lesson with this grow... the water here for this grow is higher in calcium than the city we lived in with my first 2 grows. Next grow, using calmag VERY sparingly. Hopefully my 4th go will finally be the charm. 😖😕😖😩😫😭😭😭 8/25/22: Well the girls have recovered pretty well. No more lockout or leaves shriveling. The buds are getting fatter and we've got some cloudy trichomes already but they still need another 2 or 3 weeks after being as sick as they were. Both the Granddaddy purps are have some purple coming through... excited about that. I also noticed that the stems on all 3 plants that were super dark red before the flush is now are lightening up. It's pretty amazing how these plants quickly recover. 😍

This is the beginning of week 7 of flower for the girls. I'm so glad they've recovered but I'm still leery of how the flowers will turn out. They are continuing to fatten but yeah... I'm switching back to a water, water, Bloom, water, water schedule for this week then after that I may not give them any more nutes at all to prepare for harvest. This will be my largest yield yet but only because this grow I'm growing 3 instead of 2 like I'd been doing. I already have some Gelato OG auto seeds on deck from Seedsman that I plan to plant after these have dried out... Going to be using the tent for the drying session too. The autos should be done way before we even get thru these 3 plants. Pretty excited still but learned another lesson from their sickness. I know what to do and what not to do from these 3 grows. 4 is definitely going to be the charm I hope with these Gelato OG autos. I plan to LST them... likely won't top. My 2nd grow were autos and we got so much from the 2 plants just from LST so I'll be trying that again along with SCROG. 😊😊😊❤️💕💕💕

The girls are doing well considering. Their leaves still look awful but I've been pulling the dead ones off if they're ready to come off, they just come right off in my hand. When I tested their run off today, pH was down to about 6.1 for the GDP2 and BK. GDP1's pH was still up at around 6.4. GDP2 and BK both had PPMs around 370 while GDP1 had about double that. GDP1 is also slightly behind the other 2 plants for some reason yet she seemed to be the one least phased by the nute burn and lockout. I'm hoping to be able to cut BK and GDP2 down over this coming weekend. Pretty much all of their trichomes from what I've seen are cloudy, haven't seen any amber yet. GDP1 is still plugging along... she has mostly cloudy but I did see a bit of clear ones too on some of her buds. I'll probably separate GDP2 and BK for their 2 days of darkness and let GDP1 have a little bit more time. Other than that, pretty good. 😊

So we've decided to go ahead and get ready to cut the girls down. I've not given them any nutes in a little over 2 weeks. Trichomes are all cloudy... a few ambers spread out. Their leaves are starting to fall off. No use in waiting any longer. This will still be the largest yield so far. Still think that the 4th time will be the charm. I'll check back in after we've cut them down and gotten them ready to hang and dry. I will also come back and update how much we got after dry and then of course after cure and smoke.

This is actually my largest yield yet because I was growing 3 plants instead of just 2 like my first 2 grows. I'm so glad that my girls were able to bounce back and their flowers fattening up finally. After the nute and calcium burn, I thought they were as good as dead. GDPs are very resilient plants. I think this one is still my favorite grow but 4th time is going to be the charm. 💕❤️😍😍😊😊😘😘 I will come back to put how much they weigh after drying and we've put them in jars and I'll come back to comment on taste and the high... 😊😊
