New clones just arrived! Starting them off straight into coco coir this time. First transplant today into solo cups. They got a pretty heavy first watering with a PPM of about 425. Hoping to really start them off strong. I will be vegging them for much longer than usual. I typically veg my plants for 4 to 6 weeks and these girls will be vegging for 8 to 9. This grow will be a great chance for me to try some HEAVY plant training techniques.
Clones are crushing. Roots are popping out of the bottom of the cups. Everyone but the Fruit Salad got topped this week. Fruit Salad seems to be having a pH issue. I don't know what to do, this problem keeps happening even though. am pHing the water. It doesn't seem to be a massive issue because the plant is growing fine, but something needs to be done about this. More to come!
The girls have reached the end of week 2. Unfortunately I did overwater them while they were in the solo cups. I thought they just needed to be transferred, but while doing so I noticed they were very overwatered. Allowed them to dry out for about 5 days in the new pots, and just watered them last night when they started to droop. Today they look much better and will hopefully pick up where they left off. By the middle of this week I plan to begin LST and will bend them all over to one side.
Everything is moving right along. Plants are drinking well and really starting to crowd each other. I am happy with how everyone reacted to topping. They bounced back pretty quickly and I even had to supercrop one of the PE branches last night when the lights came on. Overall I am really happy with the progress of these little ones.
This tent is getting WAY to crowded. Thinking I am going to move the weakest of the bunch, the Fruit Salad, outside this weekend and just flower her out there for the rest of the season. She is not a bad plant, but she isn't nearly up to par with the rest of them and there is no reason to waste space on something like that. This weekend I am going to do some serious work on the rest of them. I am going to give them their first lollipop and also top several of them to try to get some better structure out of them. If it all goes well I should get some better air flow and slow their growth a little bit while the flowering tent is still doing it's thing.
Tent is really getting out of control. Not really sure how I am going to handle this to be honest. The plants look amazing, drinking well, but there is absolutely no room in the tent. I had to move one of the plants outside, hoping to finish it out there. Might see if I can bring them to a friends, transplant them, and let them finish there veg there while my flower tents runs its course. We will see
Welp the fruit salad is officially outside. I needed the room for the stronger plants. These plants are getting way too tall. Idk how to stop them. I have super cropped, lollipopped, topped, everything to try to stress them out and they just keep chugging along. I have now started to shake them each day, the branches at least, old grower taught me this trick. Simulates high winds outside, creates micro fractures in the branches and strengthens them.
The next round of flower has begun. I am pretty worried about the height of these plants, but we will see what happens I guess. I put the scrog net in right away and it took them from about 18 inches down to about 16 inches so that is good. I have about 10 inches left that they can stretch before things would get bad so we will just have to wait and see what happens. Other than that they look beautiful! When placed under the net they filled almost the entire tent on day one. Great stuff!
First week of flower is complete. SCROG net is doing it's job so far. Hopefully I can keep them from stretching as much as possible. All new growth is bright green and they are off to a great start. Weather has been extremely hot, luckily all the heat comes during lights out. Nothing I can do though, just have to wait and see. As of right now, they look great.
This week is going well. They had.a BIG stretch this week that has been difficult to handle. Ended up having to sueprcrop 3 different branches in this tent. They also may be slightly under-watered. The Pineapple Express and MelonSickly are DRINKING. BG 41 and ZK are drinking a little less overall. Light is almost at the top of the tent now. I hope the stretch is over now that they have started to put on some pistils. They went through 1 heavy defoliation at the beginning of this week and it just 6 days later it doesn't even seem like I did one lol. I will have to give them another haircut around day 20. For now I am happy with the progress of this tent.
I think they are finally done stretching. I had to get zip ties this week and zip tie my light flat against the top bar. Tallest branches right now are about 16 inches away and center of the canopy is about 20. Although the structure is shit, I think I did well with defoliation and lollipopping. The light is penetrating all the way to the scrog net and the majority of the canopy is within the recommended 18-24 inches from the light. About 90% of all the bud points should be getting the recommended amount of light, so I am pleased with how it turned out. Discovered I had a pH problem this week. My pH has been low, around 5 and I think that is why I have been getting blockages. I have begun to correct the problem slowly watering 2 times around 6.5 and now I will probably water between 6-7 all week to correct for the low pH. They now need to be watered every day so this last month and a half of growing is going to be a pain, but such is life. All told, I am happy with the tent so far, and now that the humidity is much more moderate, I think keeping conditions constant should be a lot easier.
Not much to report this week. We are going through a crazy heat wave right now so that is kind of a bummer. I think I corrected my pH issue which is good, but it's still CRAZY how much pH up it takes to adjust with just the flowering nutrients and no nitrogen. I put in something like 40 drops in my 5 gallon it was still only around 6. I am really glad I noticed the problem when I did though. I wonder how much the last grow suffered from that problem. Hopefully this heat gives way soon and things can start progressing normally again.
Nothing to really report. Inspite of this ridiculous heat wave the plants seem to be progressing well. They are starting to put on their first bit of density under the white pistils which is exciting. It's been difficult to control the humidity and temp, but hopefully this heat wave will end this week. If that happens i have a feeling these plants are going to blow up like balloons.
We have made it to the end of Week 6. Conditions in the tent have improved DRAMATICALLY. The heat wave has finally passed and the temperature has finally leveled out. Not only that, the super weird monsoon weather that we were having has also passed and now the humidity is not rising above 60%. This turn for the best is really showing and also fixing the pH problem I had also probably helped a lot. Going to push the PPM a little more this week, between 750-850 The color of the buds is really coming through now, especially in the pineapple express and zkittles. The melonsicle seems to be growing much more like a traditional sativa. I feel it's about a week behind schedule with the rest of the plants. It seems to be on a true 9 or 10 week tract at this point. I think the blue gelato is going to be a bust in terms of yield. It just got heavily over shadowed by the other three plants from the beginning. It has stayed quite small and I am not sure it will yield heavily. Hopefully the smoke is quality and I will be impressed enough with my first Barney's Farm experience to try again.
This week has been great! The conditions have really improved here so the tent has been much more stable. Humidity not climbing much over 60% and temp right around 26 degrees. Really pumped! The girls are really starting to pack on the bulk so I upped the Overdrive for this final 2 weeks. Hopefully all things stay the same and we can see some smooth sailing all the way home :D
Just checked the trichomes at day 53 and everything is looking great. They are starting to get nice and milky with just a few ambers here and there. I think by day 63 they will be ready to go!!
We have reached the end of week 8. All trichomes are officially cloudy, with some amber here and there. I started their flush last night and am planning to let the go 63-65 days total. I don't know what the yield will be, but to my eyes, these plants appear to be the largest I have ever grown. I am just hoping they are dense. The last round was large as well, not nearly this big, but still large. However, the density was just not there and the yield ended up disappointing a little. Hopefully this one comes through. Cannot wait for this season so be over!!
THAT IS A WRAP FOLKS!! It's day 63, they have been flushed for about a week, and these girls are getting the chop. I have been freaking out all week thinking about mold all week so I have 4 fans going and a dehumidifier once the lights go off haha. I don't even think the nugs are big enough to have to really worry about that, but these are the biggest plants I have ever grown so I am taking all precautions. This grow had a lot of first for me; first time vegging for 6 weeks, first time growing plants over 25 inches, first time stopping nitrogen completely at week 4, and first time experimenting with a lower PPM, but less run off watering style. Some of these worked better than others of course, but overall I am really happy with how this grow has turned out so far. I will post more pics today of each plant during the wet trim. HARVEST DAY!!!!
WOOOOOW!! Plants are wet trimmed and hung to dry and as of right now.... its a record!
Pineapple Express WW = 850g
Blue Gelato WW = 251
MelonSicle WW = 792 G
Zkittlez WW = 720
Total Wet Weight = 2,613 g
This strain was AMAZING. The smoke is intense this time, let it go longer and it for sure became more of a couch lock, exactly what I wanted. Highly recommended for growers of any skill levels and smokers of both sativas and indicas.
Great strain, not sure I would grow again, but it was very easy to grow and I have nothing bad to say about it other than it should definitely be listed as a 10 week or more strain.
