Ok so this weeks growth has been a bit wild but more laid back in terms of me running back and forth to the tent on a daily basis to make sure everything is going well.
First things first... I officially fixed a few problems as stated last week including my ph problem, algae bloom issue, etc.
This week I took a shot at some DIY Hvac work (not really but youll see)
I went to the hardware store and picked up and aluminum 90 degree duct with 6 inch duct hose to go with it.. pair both these with some duct tape and what I was able to do literally amazed me.
Basically just taped the mouth of the duct over half of the open vent from my portable floor AC unit, readjusted the AC's position for freedom of space (the hose was plastic and bulky so the ac was in the middle of my kitchen next to the tent cooling the entire room), and simply attached 6in hosing to the duct going to my tent and babooom! I have officially super controlled the climate in my tent... FINALLY!
Temps during the day only get to about 75 max and during the evening a really cool 62 degrees.. im hoping to bring out some autumn colors if thats even possible lol
Anyways moving on!
Defoliated the girls twice this week. Once on Day 2, and again at day 4.
The girls had been super bunched up at the stalk and i was worried the shoots wouldnt get enough light to make it thru to the canopy so chop chop went the super light blocking fans.. by day 3 I was already seeing big thank yous as the lower nodes were returning from their yellowy weak looking state and started to perch and green up a bit. I did notice some yellow tipping however thats my doing as i am going by advanced nutes actual feeding schedule at teir recommended dosages to see the difference from previous grows at half dosage. New growth does not seem be affected.
Defoliated again on day 4 as shown in the photos to continue bringing light to the lower nodes as they fight to make it to the top.
Preflowers are starting to really pop up on the left side and only slightly on the right side... also the ph is always .2 off from left to right for some reason altho im using distilled and theyre getting the same dosage of nutes.. maybe genetics? idk.
I have been able to be a bit more laid back with the girls this week, only checking the tent randomly throughout the day to make sure ph is good, and of course it is... 5.8 to start the week and 6.4 to end it. Couldn't be happier with the ease of mind in managing these during the hot end of summer.
Moving on to next week!! :)
