after a few years of following the major subs like microgrowery, autoflowers, and spacebuckets I got all I need to finally get growing. I can only run one plant at a time in my 16"x16"x48" in my closet but it should be fine after a couple grows. I may have room to get more powerful lights but tbh if I could pull a couple ounces every couple months I'll be ok, especially since my ac and grow outlet are on the same breaker (not sure but I assume). I can't wait to grow the og kush af I got with my seeds.
I plan on doing heavy lst and whatever else I can find to keep her short and exposed. going to finish with the dyna bloom and AN bud candy. so far she's growing super fast. I swear she popped in like 36 hours at like 10 pm and got comfy at around 2-3AM a few hours later, see the pics lol. I use drops to test ph and will soon have a yes/ec meter because they are much more valuable than the ph pens in the range..
overall, I expect something to go fucky but I'm also excited so stay tuned ? as a first time grower looking to improve, I welcome all advice and helpful criticism. seems we literally and figuratively help each other grow, cheers
I got my first look at the explosive growth of cannabis plants. really amazing how much they change over a couple days.
She seems to be really happy with the situation I'm providing.
her 3rd set was a 5 finger and the 4th looks like it will be a 7. lush green tip to tip and satisfying growth. lost about 12 hours of light due to some thunderstorms but we're still good.
I'm looking to up the feed a little to see how she responds. also am trying to prepare for the challenge of this as it isn't considered an easy grow. gh ph kit must be doing the right thing for me. ec/tds meter and ph pen on the way.
I'm liking how thicc the stem is getting, makes me anxious to start roping her up but week 3 and 4 will decide how I go about lst. she's been looking quite purple in the stems so I hope that I popped a really expressive bean plus my night temps at like 68°f-70°f should help.
all in all, an easy breezy week of growth
this 3rd week was a great week for undergrowth and new tops sprouting and setting so fast. I believe I'm at 4 going on 5 nodes now at the end of the week and with that said, lst should commence somewhere this week so the undergrowth can get some shine. I still haven't chose what I'll be using for lst but it's probably going to be pipe cleaners + clothespins or soft wire tie. I'm just going for simplicity, but there is a consideration since she's pretty squat at like an inch per node. We'll see, guys.
sidebar, I somehow managed to take all but the first and last couple pictures during lights off time or just before so she looks a lil limp but all seems good.
I was still giving her younger doses of cal mag but since I've noticed the spots on the oldest node fan leaves I've been giving her full strength and she hasn't complained. crept up on the gro feed to full strength also. sprayed some neem oil because I was doing heavy yard work the other day and I would hate to bring soldiers behind enemy lines if I can avoid it. I wasn't going to disclose this but I dropped my fan onto my plant while adjusting how it was secured. she was crippled for a bit but perked up in a couple hours of light, fighter! (apparently adjustments involves removing all support and sticking it between the tent and frame)
no bad surprises, just good growing and a little issue correcting. also, the nutrients was 4.20ml per liter and I didn't plan that but I'm gonna stick with it while I lst. I use a 1.5 l can that goes up to like 1.7 l so idk, a sign from mother nature ? Lol until next week
Man what a week. Lowered the humidity, feed, and the STRESS. She's doing her best, guys :)
Her roots are almost to the edge of the pot and she's certainly moving towards the preflower stage. Three lone preflowers near the top at the node and a weak weak ambient smell in the tent but she's throwing allot into both, now. I visit and do maintenance half the time just to smell my hands afterwards and when I take her out, she smells really earthy which in and of itself is a fine sign at this point.
The humidity and feed are the main things that helped her bounce back. I cut the gro and calmag to half strength and lowered my ph to 5.8, still have to get a digital ph/tds meter. Threw in a tiny bit of bloom notes. My room was in the upper 60s and my tent a little higher but I turned on the dry mode of my ac to lower it. I also added a 100 cfm Duct booster to serve as my sole intake and it helped allot. They're both in the 50s-60 now so I'm watering a little more frequently and feeding more effectively if not just experiencing a happier lady. I gotta get something supplementary like Eva dry mini renewable humidifier or some damp rid which I feel will be more effective to get the rh lower and thus increase transpiration/resin production.
I began training amongst the mild stress because she was still growing fairly strong. I tied down the main stem to a sorta bushy side so I can use the open space on the opposite side of the pot to form a structure with plenty of space for air and light penetration. 7-8 hours later she was back up looking for her light. I also tucked fan leaves to better, less obstructive locations. I'm letting the buds opposite the top grow freely for a bit so I know where they'd like to remain. Then I'll give her some directing of my own. Possibly may have to do some defoliation sometime. Finally, I misted her with some neem oil while she slept to keep our exoskeletal neighbors away from my gorl.
As always, I'm open to advice and suggestions since after all, it is my first grow. I just have a couple years of knowledge from grow forums and reddit. Well until next week, gEnts ;)
Solid week right on the brink of flowering. I'm pleased with her growth this week. I'm watering every other day now. nothing but growth tips coming up and bud sites getting more leaf mass. did some more lst to open up the canopy some more and bring buds lower in preparation for the stretch which I hope has already passed a bit. super bushy. not much more to report good or bad. later gEnts
BLOOM IS IN THE ROOM!
tops high enough to mature on pace are exploding with pistils. the top is at the lead in mass although, the lankiest stalk is a good inch or two higher than the top. all the lower sites are filling out well. there's a couple that haven't bloomed bloomed but I assume they'll be the ones that go In the second chop if harvest that way.
her canopy is a tad uneven because I lst'd to a bushy side but still, no ragerts because it created a nice central avenue to deliver air throughout all the branches. the top and adjacent branches are the bushiest, but I devised this method of tucking sorta to kill tangles and expose more fan leaves and growth sites to light.
I can make a video but basically it's like ponytailing except your hand is the scrunchy and you move from the bottom of the stalk to the top with your hand cupped around like you're holding a broomstick. imo it will work well for early flower while the branches still move to their "spot". this with proper lst would be killer.
all in all, feeling good finally in flower. can't wait to see what she does. till next week, good growing gEnts
been underwatering this week but we're back on track now. roots hit the bottom so I'll be watering everyday. I think I've pushed the nutes as far as I can and maybe can ease back a little. I broke a branch somehow but it seems it's growing again after taping it up. pistils are exploding out of every site as the buds build and take shape. I regret not being more aggressive with the lst but some defoliation should be good. smell is becoming more and more present but nothing nearly intoxicating yet lol. a little worried about the vertical space but it doesn't seem to be affecting her yet so no worries.
she's a woman now :) , until next week gEnts
this week she started really packing in the crystals and fattness. I moved my upper fan to a place pointing directly down over the canopy and things just seemed better. I also drastically decreased the grow and will feed with it for half a week before eliminating.
as more crystals come in, the direct and ambient smell off of her is becoming smelling more dieselly like when you buy bud vs a vegetative "green" skunk imin loving it. there are allot of buds at the canopy level starting to round off and grow into the pistils. the two top buds are kicking the most butt tho lol. I saved a few sites when I defoliated to serve as testers. I'm thinking another 2-3 weeks until but my loupe hasn't been ordered yet. My timer broke so dark time has to be manual so a few times a week I'll give her 3-5 hours.
besides that she's doing good and looking even better so no complaints. till next week gEnts
based on my findings online and recent feeding changes, I figured I overfed the cal mag and the excess calcium lead to potassium lockout hence the discolored and dying leaves. I also neglected to water a couple times. I stopped using the cal mag completely until I decide what to do if anything besides cut the calmag. I feel like a harvest around the 10th or so of October but I'll have a loupe by then to be precise. I'm gonna harvest she'll be 1/5th of trichs are Amber. despite nute stress, she continued to grow and pack on. Maybe I cost myself a few days but she bounced back well, again.
the calyxs are just starting to swell into the pistils which are also maturing well for the buds exposed directly to light. There's alot below the canopy that are ofcourse growing slower but they're still growing. across the plant is a variety of round bud balls and donkey colas so I'm looking forward to branch shots come harvest time. speaking of, I still haven't ruled out harvesting in stages.
most notable thing about these past couple weeks is the transition of terpene profile. I'm getting super citrus and slight berry smells from direct contact and some dieselly but mostly lemony and piney. the ambient smell isn't in your face at all like even from inches away. possibly a good strain for stealth grows although regardless, a carbon scrubber is a must for any grow.
till next week gEnts, good growing
feeding the same, couple weeks max out till harvest. trichs barely cloudy no ambers and smell still evolving. no new issues.
smell is becoming more fruity pebbley or subtle blueberry at times. definitely becoming more of a presence when I open the tent or move her around. buds are packing on the sugar and weight while lower level buds have their pistils aging and calyx swelling. might reintroduce the cal mag but won't pass 1ml. either way I feel a good yield a coming.
till next week gEnts
chopped on day 104.
throughout the final few weeks the smell and calyxs got their final swell on. I also had allot of quick dried testers and malignancies but I still have great projections on harvest.
