Raaneal First ever grow! Been having alot of fun learning all kinds of new information. I decided mid June to just jump in and plant some seeds to see what happens, even if it's a bit late in the season. 4/5 seeds that I germinated grew a tap root and started growing. One plant is lagging behind noticeably to the others.

Raaneal Much warmer weather than week 1, but things have continued to progress. Not sure if they are getting as much sunlight in my sunroom as they would outside. Bought a fan to battle the heat and have been leaving all windows open.

Raaneal Week 3 just started and I feel like there a huge difference in all the plants. I started watering larger amounts every other day - 3 days starting the end of week 2, not sure if that's helped or if it's just normal for growth to speed up at this point. Starting to feel happy, but worried there won't be enough time before crap weather in Canada.

Raaneal Beginning of Week 4, I moved all plants at the end off last week, 3 plants got moved onto a table so now they are right in the windows of the sun-room instead of under them. I think from looking at the plants that the new growth at the top of the plants is more closely stacked together, and shows that they are not stretching for the light as much. I put the biggest plant outside just for contrast, and because there isn't enough room on the table for it. I think if the plant outside starts doing much better than the ones in the sun-room or vice-versa that will help me decide on next year where to start right from the beginning of the season. Also, last week it was mentioned to me that all the stems were very thin, and that I should get a fan. I have now had the fan going during the day, and I do think that the plants might be stronger because of this or just because of growth but either way I can notice slight improvement in strength and thickness.

In picture 2 of my week 4 post, the plant has gotten very tiny white spots on the leaves, if anyone knows what this means and what action I should take to get rid of them if needed or what impending doom I am in for let me know. Thanks, Raaneal

Hi Raaneal, You almost definitely have thrips. Thrips suck the plants leaves, which can become spotted and lose colour like yours in pic 2. For a minor invasion, sticky traps are a good idea, layer them on the inside of your pot under your plants leaves and the thrips will get caught on them! You can also look with a microscope and manually remove them. A great option is to bring in natural predators. Ladybugs are amazing and love to eat thrips. They will also do no damage to your plants. The third option is using Neem oil. Neem oil is oil pressed from the fruits and seeds of the neem tree. It is used as a pesticide and is completely organic. It repels a lot of pests including Thrips. You will need to get something to mix the neem into the water as oil is not water soluble. You can buy the two together usually online, it is normally a safe liquid soap. Use sparingly and start slow as neem is strong and in my opinion is horrible smelling so do not get any on your fingers! Good luck and let us know what you decide to do! RIP Thrips!

Raaneal Brought the 2 best plants inside and put them under the optic 2 that I just got this week. Waiting for my tent setup to be delivered, and I will be happy. Put the smallest plant outside see if the power of the sun can do anything for it, and if it dies so be it. Sunroom plant is doing about the same. Friday Update - Haven't notice anymore spots on new growth. Thanks for the help everyone!

Raaneal Learning a lot of little things recently, I brought a 3rd plant inside because its doing well, and I want to salvage as much as I can from trying to use the sunroom. I have also come to the conclusion that the sunroom is just not a viable option to grow cannabis in,but lots of other house plants like pothos and stuff love that room. 2 plants, 1 that I have left outside and was the smallest, and one that had always been the biggest are now in the roughest shape. The soil was the same brand name in all 4 pots but 2 different types of soil, the 2 doing well are in promix organic in the red bag, and the 2 not doing well are in the promix potting mix pink bag. I bought some cal-mag because that is what the issue seemed like to me and I have fed that, and just once a day when I check on things foliar spray to see if it helps, but i think its too far gone. I also changed it to a fabric pot 1 because its already not doing well, and because i wanted to make sure I wasn't over watering all the plants, so it was kind of a sacrifice, My watering seems to be fine only maybe the bottom inch or 2 was really damp, but not soaking wet. I will let he plant just sit and see what happens. Biggest plant ( top center of the pic) is Blue Mystic, and everyday I can see changes in it and the distance to the light changes everyday. I just keep tucking the huge leaves behind the new branches and they all seem to be sticking out now and growing. Bottom left got given as a free seed, but seems to be growing well with new shoots coming out everywhere, and also has huge leaves.

Hey raaneal i see you mentioned wanting your buds to bulk up and that youve got just the phase 2 nutrient being ran. A relatively cheap and organic way to give em a boost is adding a teaspoon or more of molasses to each gallon of water. It provides a good source of much needed natural sugars for the roots to feed of and all the micro life in your base. Also being all natural it doesn't require as much flushing as other nutrients or bulking/sweetening supplements. Im using it now and its a great additive for those last few weeks of flowering. Best of luck. She looks good for a first grow. Well done, im sure youre gonna be satisfied no matter what. ✌️👍

Raaneal Tent finally came in the mail, really excited about that. Also think end of labor day weekend I am switching to flower 12/12. Note: As of 08-30-2018 light schedule has switched to 12/12 due to power outage resetting light timer.

Raaneal Power went out again while we were away for the long weekend, so lights are shutting off 230pm because it messes up the timer again. Just going to ride it out on the weird schedule at 12/12 till it's done now

Raaneal Quick watering and pics before running out the door to work. Being my first grow, things are starting to get pretty exciting now. I dont think the power going out effected them switching to flower too much, but it has made it harder to take care of them since it turns on at 0200 and off at 1400.

Raaneal Everything seems to be going well, just up loading some pics I think are "cool" of the Blue Mystic. I have been noticing some yellowing/browning on fan leaves, not sure if its a lack of feeding since I have only been doing water since I noticed some burning 2 weeks ago, or if its just the plant sucking up nutrients from the leaves . I am not going to do anything crazy but I will feed this week, and just pick off the leaves as they die.

Raaneal Thinking I have about 4 weeks left in flower, everything seems to be going well. I would really like for the buds to fill out more so hopefully that happens and then I can say I had a really successful first grow.

Raaneal Haven't weighed anything yet, but once it was cut down it really put into perspective how little was produced. Made alot of mistakes but learned alot. Really excited to start my next grow, soilless, all organic dry amendment fertilizer, start to finish in the grow tent, LED light, no tap water. Nearly the opposite to all the mistakes I made this round. After curing and humidity packs, burping jars, and whatever else the internet told me to do, I have actually ended up with some good comments from people I have shared with.

Nice grow! I would start giving them nutrients. Plus, your stems are small because they are streching. With a good light, like the one you get, will help your plants. When you will transplant, try to burry the stem so your plant will have a better support!

Hi bro , It could be thrips or red spiders under your leaves ! Neem oil is the best cheaper natural product against almost any bugs ! Think about it and good luck

Hi @Raaneal! You're having a thrips invasion, I think I can even see one of those bastards on your picture #2. They are tiny insects that suck the nutrients out or your leaves, they hide below the leaves and everywhere they can, and reproduce very quickly in hot environment. The best solution I found so far is using neem-oil mixed with water, and spray this foliar solution at night when the lights are off. Remember to spray above and below the leaves. Your local growshop or your local garden store should have pure neem-oil for you, you'll just have to mix a few drops with non-calcareous water (I usually use 10 to 15 drops for 1L of solution). Hope this helps, keeps us up-to-date, and happy growing 👊

(It might be red spiders also but those marks made me think about thrips) 👋
