1. These seeds come courtesy of Humblodt Seeds. They were a prize for Newbie of the Month. Thanks!😁👋
2. I will be using Nectar of the Gods nutrients this grow. They worked well for me last grow, so I thought it would be wasteful to open up another line of nutrients.
3. My goal this grow is to let this girl grow as naturally as possible. I don't plant on topping, or employing any LST, or HST. I will defol as necessary, but I'd like to see what this girl will look like without all the training.
4. Currently, I think I will be transplanting in about 2 weeks. Once that is done, I'll move them into the grow tent and start using nutes.
1. I transplanted her into a 3g canvas pot using Batch 64 soil.
2. She was moved into the grow tent as soon as she was transplanted.
3. I'm keeping the lights at a higher height until they fullly recover from transplanting.
4. I also used a microbial tea to lesson the stress of transplanting and the more powerful lights.
5. I plan on starting Nectar of the Gods nutrients as soon as she recovers from transplanting. I'm figuring about a 5 week veg period.
1. Bubba has recovered nicely from transplanting. I have never seen such fat leaves!
2. I'm getting ready to defol the bottom fan leaves. I'll probably remove them once the secondary growth is a few nodes. I have a feeling that leaf tucking will not have much effect.
3. Current watering/feeding schedule: 2l Filtered Water+EZ Tea, 2l Filtered Water+Early Veg Schedule Nutrients+Foliar Feed with Bloom Khaos, 2l Filtered Water. I try to water/feed every 2-3 days, but so far Bubba hasn't been very thirsty and I've been watering every 4 days.
1. This week has seen explosive growth! She has pretty much doubled in size! I notice that she throws off about 1 set of leaves on the top cola per day.
2. Secondary growth is adequate. There is a bit of foliage, but the branches are not really stretching out yet.
3. There are few measurements so far this week. I will not feed until this weekend. I will add that information then. I don't envision any problems. The plant looks super healthy.
4. I had to go back to my previous watering schedule. She is consuming more water, so I went back to every 2 days. I will be using the Late Vegetative Schedule for the next 2 weeks. I'll flip after 6 weeks.
1. Bubba has been through a lot this week. I trimmed off all of the fan leaves except the top node and the top. The fan leaves are so fat that light was not reaching the secondary nodes.
2. Bubba did not like that one bit!😠 I was averaging about a set of fan leaves per day. After trimming the lower fan leaves, she produced 1 new set of fan leaves the rest of the week. She has recovered and resumed her old pace of growth, but it took almost 5 days. In the future I will tread lightly when it comes to defoliation.
3. Watering/Feeding Schedule is on an every 2nd day schedule. Watering 1=2l Filtered Water=.25 Tspn. EZ Tea Veg. Watering 2=2l Filtered Water=Late Feeding Schedule=Bloom Khaos as a Foliar Feed. Watering 3=2l Filtered Water.
4. This is supposed to be the last week of veg before flipping, but I might let Bubba veg a few more weeks to encourage that secondary growth. Based on the strain infromation, she has a pretty short flowering cycle, so I have a few weeks I can spare.
1. Last week of veg for Bubba.
2. She has been a vigorous grower. I'd like to see more secondary branching, but those fat leaves block out all the light! Even trimming them hasn't increased the secondary branching as much as I'd like to see. This strain might really benefit from multiple toppings prior to flower. I think that will be my plan the next time grow this strain.
2. On Sunday I will put her in the dark for 24 hrs then flip the light schedule to 12/12. I may or may not flush at that time. Oregon's Finest Sample Pack doesn't really have a special flowering nute. I know they have several in their product line, but the sample pack did not come with one. Since I won't be changing the nutrients I'm using, only the quantities, I'm not convinced a flush is in order.
3. Finally, according to the strain description, Bubba will barely stretch and the flowering period is around 4 weeks.
1. This is the first week of flowering. I changed my journal to flower as a placemark. I don't expect to see any real preflowering for another week.
2. She has grown 3 inches since last week. That was probably vegetative growth. I have noticed that the budsites are a bright shade of green.
3. I watered with filtered water then gave Bubba a 30hr. dark period. Light was switched to 12/12 cycle. That would've been Saturday night to Monday morning.
4. Watering and feeding frequency and quantity hasn't changed. However, I have switched to NOTG Early Flowering Schedule. I will continue foliar feeding with Bloom Khaos until real flowers start to show.
1. Very little going on in terms of change in the plant. Bubba has stretched a bit, and she is using more water. Otherwise nothing has really changed. Growth is fantastic. I've been trying to keep up with the defoliation, but its near to impossible. I really have to stay on top of the large sets of leaves she develops every few days. They shade the entire plant. That certainly explains the slow secondary branching early on. Secondary growth and bud sites are really starting to develop. I'll know more when she is truly developing flowers.
2. I am changing my watering/feeding schedule. First of all, I will not be using EZTea for the rest of this grow. It is designed primarily for veg, so I am going to save it for another grow. Secondly, I am going to increase the frequency of my feedings. The new schedule will look like this: Day 1-1l Filtered Water=Early Flowering Schedule Nutes, D4-1l Filtered Water, D7-1l Filtered Water+Early Flowering Schedule Nutes. I will keep an eye on Bubba to make sure there are no adverse effects from the increase nutrients. However, I think that NOTG is a pretty gentle line of nutrients, so I don't think I will have any problems. When in doubt, flush it out!
1. Well, flowers officially emerged 2 days after I last posted.
That made a 12 day "flip" I suppose. Stretch has been fairly minor. I have a bit of legginess to the plant, but that might be due to constant defoliation to keep light penetrating the canopy.
2. I am continuing the feed-water-feed regimen I started a week or so ago. I water/feed every 3rd day.
3. I am no longer using Bloom Khaos as a foliar feeding. I am now adding it to the nutrients when I root feed.
4. I am using the Mid Flowering Schedule for the next few weeks. Basically, there is an increase in Athena's Animas and Herculean Harvest. They are both Calcium Builders. There is also an increase in Bloom Khaos now that it is being used as a root feed.
1. Stretch has slowed down considerably. I'd imagine its just about done.
2. Despite slow secondary branching during veg stage, this girl is packing on the bud sites. Even some of he sites lower in the canopy are growing vigorously.
3. Mid Flowering Schedule is still in play for the next several weeks. I have seen no adverse reflects from the increase in nutrients so I'm going to continue the new regimen.
1. Somehow I have my weeks mixed up. The diary is in week 11, but my photos are only week 10. I have an extra week somewhere. 😵(coughs through the haze)
2. Bubba has officially stopped growing taller. and started packing on the buds! I can't believe the development in the last week. The strain info says that this strain matures quickly. They weren't kidding!👌👌👌
3. I have switched to Late Flowering Schedule Nutes since Bubba is so intent on developing buds. Basically, the late schedule reduces nitrogen which the plant doesn't need as much of at this stage. At this rate, I can easily see harvesting before the end of October.
4. I've noticed something odd about Bubba during flowering. She had huge, fat Indica leaves during veg, but once she began to flower, the leaves became long and narrow like a Sativa.
5. Finally, Bubba's smell is wonderful. It is very subtle so far though. You have to be doing something to the plant for it to give off its scent. Watering and moving it around to photograph are good examples.
1. There has been tons of bud development this week. As soon as Bubba started flowering, it has been a race to the finish. I still expect about 2-3 weeks of flowering before flushing, but she certainly isn't wasting any time. Buds are filling up nicely, and she is starting to frost up a bit. Trichomes are pretty glassy, but pistils turned orange rather quickly.
2. I am feeding Bubba according to NOTG Late Flowering Schedule. Bubba seems to like the extra feedings on my newish schedule.
3. Currently I am watering/feeding every 3rd day with a schedule of feed-water-feed.
4. I have been talking to other growers in the community about molasses. Since I was already using NOTG, I looked on their website to see if they had anything comparable. After several loud videos and numerous refills😁, I hazily chose Aphrodite's Extraction. I will be adding it to my feedings. I will also be adding Aphrodite's and Herculean to my filtered waterings. Both of these last two nutrients are also being used as a flushing and finishing nutrients.
1. Bubba is nearing the end. Strain info has her finished on Monday. I like to use that as a benchmark.
I think it will take another weekish to actually harvest. Trichomes are mostly milky. The farther down the canopy, the clearer they appear.
2. I'm flushing with Herculean Harvest and Aphrodite's Extraction. Flushing is heavy on the Calcium it appears. Aphrodite's is NFTG's version of molasses.
3. Aroma is really nice, but not overpowering. I notice it mostly when I water, trim leaves, or when I handle the plant at all. It smells like Fruity Pebbles!
4. I'm really happy with how Bubba is finishing out. The buds are filling out nicely, they are all rock hard, and the strain is throwing off some purple hues!
1. Another week of fattening up Bubba!
2. According to the strain info, she should've been finished on day 50, but that was Monday, and she is still cruising.
3. I've not seen any amber trichomes, but the giant fan leaves are starting to show wear, and the pistils have long since turned orange. I'm hoping she will be done by next week, but I have no idea how long it will take the milky trichomes to turn amber.
4. I am feeding only Herculean and Aphrodite's. The is NfTG version of flushing. I started to use Hades Down to lower my pH a bit. It was hovering around 7, and the instructions say to try to keep it closer to 6.4. .5 teaspoons did the trick.
5. Overall, she is frosty and smells like fruity pebbles. There is a purple hue to the buds and sugar leaves. Its difficult to see it under the grow lights though.
1. Bubba just won't give up the ghost. Every day I go in and inspect her trichomes, and every day she says, "Come back later."
2. She is getting really crystally and purple! We have had cold nights for a bit now, and its really bringing out her color.
3. Bubba is still getting flush nutes from NFTG. I will flush with fresh water once as soon as I see amber trichomes, or run out of patience. NFTG is pretty gently. I don't think I'll have a lot to flush out.
EDIT
1. There will not be a week 15 Flowering Entry.
2. I gave Bubba a final flush with filtered tap water on Tuesday.
3. Thursday afternoon I trimmed all of the fan leaves and put her in the dark for a few days.
4. I will harvest on Sunday. I guess that means a harvest report next week or so.
This is a very sticky strain to harvest. I had a lot of problems when I tried to wet trim. I had to pick off the sugar leaves from the scissors by hand. Luckily I was wearing gloves. She dried for about a week in a cardboard garment box. There is an exhaust fan at the top, and passive intake along the bottom of the box. Temps were 63-71. Humidity was 32-41% She was a little brittle coming out of the drying box, but since putting the buds into the jars with a 58% Breveda, the buds are back to dense and spongy.
Smoke is smooth and really, really stony! I sampled a few popcorn buds and they made me a little light headed. The aroma is wonderful so far. It smells like fruity pebbles!
Bubba was a super easy grow overall.
She didn't like being defoliated, so I would change my defol. schedule to a few times during the grow instead of a little bit at a time which is my current method.
I didn't really push her with nutrients during veg. I think with this line of nutes, I could greatly increase my nutes during veg, and during the beginning of flowering.
Bubba does not produce an abundance of secondary growth. When I grow this strain again, I will top her, and train her out. I will definitely mini top as well to increase the primary bud sites. Lastly, I will lollipop the hell out of this strain to encourage bigger buds.
The extra time spent in veg will be made up for in flowering. Bubba raced through flowering.
