Full 7 days since sowing seeds into soil. A bit stretched from using a lower powered light on my herb shelf in the kitchen. Moved to the tent with light at 20" at 30% power on the dial.
This is a bit of a late week 2 update, it's about week 2.7 - 19 days since sowing, 16 since sprout. I repotted into 3 gallon fabric pots after day 16 sow. Feeding 350ml of water every 2-3 days. Mixed up 1L of water with 1mL of CalMag and watered today.
Both Ghost Toof are producing their second set of 5 bladed leaves, SBD is already throwing 7 bladed leaves. The SBD is surprisingly vigorous!
3 weeks, 21 days since sprout. I trimmed a few leaves and lower branches that were right against the soil today, lowest 2 above the cotyledons on each plant. I topped one Ghost Toof as an experiment to compare vs GT #2. Started LST today on all the plants. My plan is to grow the main stem horizontal and in a spiral around the pot. Bud sites will grow up and any leaves and branches will be bent to clear the stem on either side.
Fed each plant 1.2 micro, 0.6 gro, 0.6 bloom (ml/liter). Each plant had 500ml water.
Just finished up 4 weeks of veg and the plants are looking great. Both Ghost Toof are showing preflower and I expect full flowering to start over the next week. I'm hoping to take the SBD to veg until this coming Sunday August 21 which will be 5 weeks. With an 8-10 week flowering time I should be harvesting by the beginning of November. Every day I check the plants and adjust LST as needed since they're growing an inch or 2 daily and new nodes every 3 days. Feeding on Sundays as per General Hydro medium feed schedule, calmag 1ml/l when just watering. The plants are needing noticeably more water over the last week. I watered on Sunday 650ml per plant and 1L per plant on Monday, I'll have to start watering til runoff and prepare to switch to flowering nutrient schedule on Sunday when I flip 12-12.
Week 5 veg:
Just flipped to 12/12 on Sunday August 21, 5 weeks of veg on the photo period SBD. Both Ghost Toof autos have been in preflower for about 5 days now. Did a light defoilate to open the middle of each plant and removed a lot of smaller lower growing stems and bud sites. Starting to move the feeding nutrients to bloom ratios.
The topped GT is a lot more even then the untopped one. Definitely recommend topping this strain. Side branching is very strong and low and wide training on all 3 plants is going very well. After the stretch I'm sure it'll be even easier to maintain the plants.
Considering getting a bigger tent right now haha. Thanks for reading.
Week 1 if flower brought some upgrades. I replaced my 80x80x160 tent with a 100x100x180 and went from a 4" to a 6" fan system. I'm loving the extra room and so are the plants.
1 week into flowering now and the SBD is starting to show signs of pistils. The untopped ghost toof was showing signs of nitrogen toxicity over the last 9 days so it's only been getting pH'd water till it recovers. The topped ghost toof stretched a bunch and is coming along really well.
9 more weeks to go? Hopefully a bit less!
Over the last 2 weeks the topped ghost toof has stretched like crazy while the untopped one has been maturing and bulking a bit faster. The satin black domina is coming along really well but will probably finish 2 weeks after the ghost toofs. A few of the lower leaves are fading because I reduced feeding after a bit of nitrogen toxicity but I've resolved that recently. The smells coming from the tent are very earthy and not so much cannabisy. I'm really enjoying the larger tent and upgraded ventilation system.
70 days in and the plants are looking great. Both of the Ghost Toof have been putting all their energy into building buds over the last 2 weeks and it shows. The colas are bulking up really well and the smell of terps in the air is strong. The satin black domina has finished stretching and is moving into bud growing too, but a few weeks behind the autos. I'm hoping the Ghost Toof goes another 2 weeks but I can tell it's slowing down and some sugar leaves are starting to show amber trichomes.
I've started weening the Ghost Toof's off of heavy flowering nutes so they've been getting the remainder of the SBD nute water heavily diluted with a touch of calmag. The colas are bulking and some sugar leaves are showing amber trichs, bud are starting to get cloudy. The SBD is getting frostier by the day. The lower buds are surprisingly large and I'm glad I didn't trim all of them off. Hoping to have 1.5 - 2 more weeks on the GT and 4 weeks on the SBD.
GT @ 78 since sprout
SBD @ F43
Similar to last weeks update; Ghost Toofs are getting CalMag water @ 6.3 pH, Satin Black Domina is getting nutes as per this weeks feed chart.
GT @ 84 Days
SBD @ 49F
The Ghost Toof is taking its sweet time ripening up but at least it's starting to fade. The topped GT is holding onto its colour a bit more then the topped one. Trichomes are starting to get more cloudy but no amber yet on the buds.
The SBD is showing slight signs of P+K hunger so I've been micro dosing it with nutes every feed rather then 1 big feed and 2 no feed waterings in between.
The smell off the SBD is amazing and the buds are quite dense despite being on the smaller size. Hoping they plump up a lot more in the next 2-3 weeks, I think this plant will go past Oct 31 before its done.
Ghost Toof @ 91 Days
Satin Black Domina @ F56
Looks like my initial estimate of chopping October 31 will be closer then I thought. Still 2 more weeks to go.
The fade is really starting to show on the topped Ghost Toof, untopped isn't showing as much purple.
The Satin Black Domina is coming along well, trichomes are getting quite cloudy - it has almost caught up to the Ghost Toofs.
Hoping to chop next weekend but at this rate I thought 2 weeks was a month ago 😅
Ghost Toof grew as well as I expected with my experience level. The untopped produced less yield with LST only. The topped plant with LST filled out better and had a more even canopy.
I was able to take home just over 180 grams from the 2 plants after I removed all of the spots with PM. Bud washed all plants in 3% H202. Kept about 2 oz of dried frozen bud for experimenting with extracts and edibles.
This strain suffered from a bit of PM due to high humidity during lights out. I was able to save a few colas from the plant and after a 2 month cure the buds were excellent. Notes of pine, citrus and skunk. Even at a claimed 14% THC this strain has a moderately strong head high, the CBD mellows it out a bit.
