This is my 2nd grow and I've decided to stick with the 8 Ball kush. The first grow with this went well so I'll stick with it and see if I can improve.
The seeds were soaked for 12 hrs in water then planted into jiffy pots and into the propagator. Within 48hrs all the seeds had pushed through the soil. Once the plants went in the tent the stretching stopped. Then on day 6 I transplannted them into small pots leaving them an inch above the soil.
My watering schedule is every other day with 0.5 ml of root juice every watering
Girls are looking healthy and the growth has started to speed up now plant 4 is around a day behind the others , she germinate last and had problems getting the shell off . Apart from that all is looking good.
Outside Temps have cooled so humidity in the tent has been better this week, sitting around 60%
I'm still only feeding root juice at 0.5ml/l every watering and that's every 4 days. I'll try to keep the 4 day schedule throughout the grow..
Let's see what next week brings.
Some of the lower leaves started to yellow on 2 of the plants so they went into 3 gal smart pots. The nutes in the fresh soil seem to have made them happy again and the yellowing stopped.
The fifth nodes have started to grow now so I'll top them in the next few days. Plant 4 is still playing catch up but I'm hoping when I top back to the 3rd node this will even things up a bit.
Happy growing.
The girls are looking well this week and they all responded positively to last week's topping. All of the plants now have 4 new tops.
Everythings a bit dense and crowded at the minute so all the growth has been horizontal with the new tops pushing out to find some room. This will get thinned out over the next few days to try and coax some more tops up. I'm aiming for 12 per plant.
Stay safe.
Day 43 switched to flower.
There has been some stretch this week but not a great deal. I'm starting to think that's the way with LED lights.
More LST through the week and now the canopy is reasonably flat, I'll get in the tent as much as I can while they stretch, to keep on top of it.
Other than that there isn't a lot to report. The plants look health, I'm happy, exciting times ahead.
Stay safe.
Everything is coming along nicely. Then again it's such an easy strain to grow, perfect for noobs like me.
Starting to see pistils come in. Hopefully I'll have budletts soon.
21 days into flower and the stretch has finished. All the plants were defoliated quite heavily as there was alot of large fans covering bud sites and laying on one another. Fingers crossed I haven't taken to much off.
Happy growing.
The girls have filled out after last week's trim, the lower buds have matured and trichs have started to appear on the sugar leaves. I'll trim again at 6 weeks into flower.
Happy growing.
apologies for all the pink photos this week, it's been a busy one. Next week's photos will be out the tent. The buds are starting to develop nicely now and the LED doesnt do them justice.
Happy growing.
Really pleased with how they're coming along, especially plant 3. She's absolutely thick in trichs and looks more like white widow.
Fingers crossed now for the last couple of weeks.
Happy growing.
Not long to go now. I've spotted a couple of amber trichs on two of the plants. The buds are still swelling and producing new pistils so I'll hang on a bit but check them regularly. Harvest time soon!
They've only had plain water all week and they're just beginning to fade. The top buds have a few amber trichs now. Once I see some on the middle buds I'm harvesting them. Happy growing.
This strain was everything I wanted as a noob. Uniform growth and a strong disease and pest resistant plant. Experienced growers will have no problems getting quality bids out of this strain.
Very pleased to get to my first GD harvest although I’m a little disappointed with the yeild. I trimmed way to heavy in week 3 of flower and I believe this hurt the yield. Lesson learned there. I also need to get a grip of the high humidity when lights are off. I’ll be adding a de-humidifier from now on. Apart from self inflicted problems the plants have been trojans. They had temps up to 32.6 C (heatwave) shortly after germination but it didn’t seem to bother them.
The buds have been curing in jars for a week now and the smell has mellowed into fresh pine. This comes through when you smoke it but with a hint of hashish, good quality hashish. The high is a creeper. The first 20 mins are energetic and talkative then the body stone takes over Overall a lovely smooth smoke.
A great strain to grow. I’ll be growing this again.
Thanks for the comments and the follows. I really appreciate it. Also apologies for the lack of harvest photos, they’re on a tablet that refuses to start up.
Happy growing
It sucks that you didn't get what you wanted, but awesome job! I'm also growing 8BK as my first. I grew a few plants when I was younger but haven't for 20+ years. The first time I smoked 8BK I fell in love with it and it continues to be my favourite strain, but it's around $14/gram here 😭 Had you smoked it before you grew it or was this just a random decision or ?
I wasn't going to do much to my plants but I noticed they had all this bursting growth inside. I wanted to see what would happen if I exposed it to light so I applied some LST. In the last few days they've just absolutely EXPLODED with growth, as yours seemed to do! I'll be updating my diary on Friday or Saturday with pics showing the growth explosion.
@Rory420, thanks... I'm sure I'll get at least something out of it :) Mostly worried about the clones I'm going to take, I'll have to keep them in with the flowering plants for 12 hours a day and then put them under a regular lamp just to keep them from flowering haha. But I guess I can always order another pack of seeds and start over!
@Jwjoh,I hadn’t smoked it before, 8 ball kept coming up when I was looking for easy, short strains to grow. Now I’ve smoked it, it’s become one of my favourites. I’ll follow your diary, I hope everything goes well. 👍
@HighRoller909, quite earthy, sometimes spicy. You definitely know it's Kush lineage when you smell and taste it. For me, it has both the cerebral high and energy of a sativa, and the body stone of an indica... And if I can be perfectly ... blunt... great strain for bedroom shenanigans between experienced smokers ;)
I noticed your diaries are all Barney Farms. I'm very happy with the 2 BF Pineapple Express I have, and I have more barneys seeds on the way. Have you decided to stick with them? Your grows are beautiful btw.
@Rory420, awesome. Im doing more autos next... malana bomb and sweet tooth. I'll have to shut down my grow from January to March cuz it'll be too cold, but in April I'm starting some of the new stuff... Gorilla Zkittlez, Blue Gelato, and Shiskaberry. I'll be following you for sure.
Hi @ToadieK, yes I'm sticking with Barneys farm. I'm more than happy with the results I'm getting plus there's loads more of their strains I'd like to grow. Ayahuasca purple is up next then I think vannila kush after that. Just had a look at your pineapple express, it looks fantastic
