Hello everyone and welcome to my diary. I'll be growing this Blueberry Muffin 10 clone by Humbolt Seeds.
I dipped the cut it in CloneX rooting gel, and put it in an EzClone machine. I used CloneX rooting nutrients at 4ml for the 2 gal reservoir. This was my first time propagating with this system, and I was impressed with the overall success rate.
I'm trying DWC for the first time with this Blueberry Muffin 10. I'm using a 5 gal @newlevelhydroponics system with @floraflex2 nutrients! I will say I'm very nervous, but excited to try something new.

Being my first try at DWC, I'm not surprised I'm havIng PH issues. To solve this, I'm setting up a reservoir to let the nutrients and ph settle 2 days before water change.
Lights are at 50% at 30 inches for the first week.
I increased the light to 80% at 30 inches and changed water. Other than that, she's looking great. Tight node spacing and just a slight sign of a nutrient deficiency. I'll adjust that with the water change this weekend.
I did a little LST to encourage her to spread out a bit.
I'm seeing a lot of growth this week. She responded well to the LST clip. I'm changing the nutrients next week to include CalMag. Hopefully things will go well.
This was an interesting week for me. I found that I had to keep checking the PH everyday to ensure I kept it in the 5.7 - 6.0 range. That said, only minor adjustments were needed the entire week. I did have to top off the pot twice to keep the water level high. I used a 2g/gal each V1 and V2 as the top off nutrients, and that seemed to work well. All in all, it was a fairly maintenance free week as far as the nutrients were concerned.
I put in a few more LST clips to open up the canopy a bit. Additionally, I removed a leaf or two that were blocking growth sites, but not enough to consider true defoliation. Other that that, I just let her grow. I plan to just top off the bucket this week and give her a full change at the end of the week. I'm, having fun with DWC so far.
Let me start by saying that I'm having fun with DWC. I fee like I'm learning everyday. That said, I do think I"m messing with my ph a bit too much. It seems to be fluctuating between 5.5ph and 6.0. I am making daily adjustments, and I think that may be too much. Next week, I think i will just check the ph every other day. Other than that, things went well this week.
I did a little light defoliation to open up the top to get some light in the middle of the plant. She responded well and bounced right back the next day. The growth is amazing in DWC. I didn't do a full water change this week, as I plan to do that every other week. I have been adding nutrient solution daily to keep her at a good fluid level. I will flip at the end of the week. I don't want her to get too big because I have 5 plants in the tent, and I don't want to be too crowded.
I flipped to 12/12 in an attempt to keep the size down, and that seems to have worked on this girl. She is quite a bit smaller than most of the other plants in the tent. I sprayed her with FloraFlex Bloom foliar spray. Quite honestly, I'm not sure if it makes that much of a difference, but I have it so I might as well use it.
She is drinking quite a bit more this week. I'm adding about 1L of nutrient solution daily to keep her at the full mark. I cut back to phing the buckets every other day, and only small adjustments have been necessary. The ph is staying pretty much between 5.7 and 6.0. I did a bit more defoliation at the beginning of the week, and she bounced back like a champ! So far so good!
The stretch this week was a bit of a disappointment! The other plants are showing much more growth, but perhaps this cultivar just doesn't stretch as much, or doesn't do as well in DWC. I'm really not sure. I continued to top off the nutrient solution daily; adding about 2L per day to the bucket. This tent is getting crowded, and I now know that 5 plants is too many in a 5 DWC set up. From now on, I think I will keep it at 4 plants or less. I started seeing signs of bloom towards the end of the week, and I'm not noticing any problems, aside from humidity. I added two small dehumidifiers and I'm keeping the tent open in order to keep the humidity down. So far, I'm able to keep it a about 55, with a LOT of air flow from fans. I'm having a lot of fun, although I will admit this is a little more work than I was expecting.
This was a water change week, so I drained the bucket and replaced it with new nutrient solution. The stretch for this girl was minimal, but she's showing nice branching and bud formation. I did some defoliation in order to keep the humidity down. That has been a fight. I put two small dehumidifiers in the tent, and have it unzipped at the top on three sides. That seems to be helping. All in all, it's been a fun week.
She's looking good, and is starting to show good bud development, and I'm starting to detect that delicious blueberry smell.. I tried to thin her out a bit with some more defoliation, but that seems to be a lost battle. The humidity is still a bit higher than I would like, but I think I can keep it in an acceptable range. I'm making sure to have a lot of air flow from the fans to, hopefully, prevent any problems.
She's drinking about 1 liter a day, and I am replacing with the same strength nutrient solution. I'm not seeing any problems and she looks healthy. This tent is full, but I'm having fun!
I topped off the nutrient solution daily, and adjusted the minor ph fluctuation every other day. Generally, I noticed I was running between 5.8 and 5.5 and would have to only use a small amount of ph up to adjust the solution. This girl is not a big drinker. The night time temperature in my area has dropped to around 30f, so my nighttime tent temps are following suit, but still well within acceptable parameters. I will say that 5 plants in a 4.4 is too many for a DWC grow. In fact, I'm not sure I would want to grow more than 2 plants in DWC in the future. Time will tell.
Good luck! I have the same #10, the mother is thriving in veg even under minimal lighting as I have already taken a set off her and rooted them, and transplanted to 3.5". I need to update and publish my diary. Will do so in the next day or so. :) I'm following.
