Germination Day 1, she is showing a tap root. Took 18hrs, the longest out of the 3 new sponsored barneys fem seeds, as soon as your seed splits it really is best to move onto the next step, as a slight bump or the bang when you put the cup back down could send the seed to the bottom of your water and the seed might drown, now, some ppl will leave it until it gets 1-2cm long, why take the risk, just move onto PT, as its safer but you are getting the best of both worlds as GOW has highest germination rate next to a propagator and peat pellet or mineral wool, she will go into cotton wool pads in this case, same as PT really, they just stay damper longer, I find and hold temperature better, clearly cause they have more padding. After it has about 1-2cm tap I'll move it straight into soil, I'll make it so the top layer, where the roots will be exposed to the 1st 3 days no nutrients, just light mix soil and as she grows some her roots should reach down into the nutrient layer and give her a proper start.
43hrs total, 18hrs in water, 24hrs in cotton wool. Now, in the ground, seedling day 1 will start veg week as soon as I see cotyledons, (the little leafs)
Looking forward to growing this, as I'm old school and this was the weed you always wanted when I was growing up. So, I'm looking forward to it. There is clearly other oldies I want to get around to, but white widow I grew up on, so nothing but love for this strain, it will be my 9th and final Fem for this round of growing. (Clones will be taken, labelled, stored for as long as I can once I learn how to properly, I have an Idea from the bits I have read, and I'll put them to rooting and by that point I should know if it's a good plant cause the mother should be into late flowering), and if the mother gives good traits I'll move them into full production, no way will I lose out on that perfect strain, as I did with my SLH DWC, well the leaf to calyx ratio is the best I've ever grown, all buds are rock hard, she is very very weak but that's only down to how she was grown and has nothing to do with her traits, her stems need longer to veg before they are flipped. So, I have clonex, clonex mist, root riot cubes, propagator and I'm getting a special light just for my clones.
I have no idea what I'll be doing with this gal. She's 75% indica and 25% sativa. She is a perfect candidate to be mainlined. Heights are high but not too high that you wouldn't be able to get a decent amount of colas out of 100-120cm is the normal i gather for a 56 day veg, but depending on how I grow it might be more of an 11 week veg. I'll decide as she takes shape, but if I do decide to do a manifold I'll be doing 16 colas. Not huge manifolds, as I will have 9 fems in a 100cm2, it'll be tight, but I should be OK. If not, I'll buy another 100cm2 (hmmmm, me is thinking I need a new light, and you don't go down, so maybe an the next 1, or even 2 more up on this 1, I'll see how the bank balance looks if it gets to that) as my 70cm2 will be used for autos with 2 p1000s from viparspectra. And I am getting a clone tent and I'll use my SF1000 until I get a good light for clones.
I'll also be adding a sunPro 50 watt UV A+B light for extra resin production, it'll only be used 3-4hrs in the last 3 weeks of flowering, the ripening phase mainly. Also meant to be great for clones to help with root production so they will get a dose of this for a few hours or for however long you are meant to, have to learn 1st.
I'm thinking in to getting a uvb fixture too, read an article from dutch passion that increases certain terpenes like myrcene and lymonene in 40 to 50% when added in late flowering πͺ
Wish you all the best buddy ππ
