Trying to absorb as much summer light as possible before the temps drop too much and I have to bring inside.

Had to bring them inside. Got me a Vivosun tent so I am expecting great things. I've never mainlined before, but these will be my experiments after a few more nodes.

Grow Questions

Unrelated to this grow but a question none the less. Is it a thing to harvest individual branches of a plant? i.e. Can you harvest the tops and let the lower buds mature more? Namaste

Absolutely yes, a lot of people will harvest their tops and give the rest a chance to grow. The lower buds may not always benefit from this. Each plants is different, so keep you eye on the hairs and tricombs of the lower buds.

Never did Mainlining before so hopefully my pipe cleaner technique works. They seem to be happy. I am happy to report that they are all females, as the seeds were unsexed. I'm going to start flowering this week

Flowers off to the races! I wish I had the resources to do this in college. My rudimentary plant shaping methods are proving effective. I know it isn't as impressive as some of the grows I see here, but it is a far cry from when I was a kid and tried growing leggy seedlings by incandescent bulb! I find the whole process really fascinating.

They are coming along nicely. Though they were thought to be from the same seed stock, the middle one seems different than the other 2. slower growing, different shade and size of colas to the other 2. Not that I'm complaining mind you. Variety is the spice of life.

Grow grow grow, bud bud bud. I've been defoliating pretty serious. I used to think the plants had to be big and bushy, but a friend showed me his plants that looked like a poodle after a haircut. We are going with the pros.

Things are coming along nicely, but I never am quite sure when to harvest. I am going to start flushing them this next two weeks. The left plant seems more "done" than the other two. I never expected such variation in plants that share the same light/water sources. Science!

Reading Jorge Cervantes' cannabis growing book, and the harvest section has me spooked. Though it seems early, I think one of my plants is ready based on the browning of the pistils and terpene production so I put her into 48 hours of darkness and will start drying after. The other two plants seem to have a few more weeks to go. This whole growing process brought me to the conclusion that it would be a better use of young lives to have them learn skills like botany through cannabis propagation rather than have people have to get it off the street from some shady middleman. I'm not expecting a HIGH school class anytime soon but it would make more sense, unless the system is rigged against them on purpose.

My early finisher is dropping seeds now that it's mostly dried out. Coulda sworn I had 3 females but...? I've heard of Hermaphrodite plants; I'm guessing that is what happened. Not sure if it is genetic thing or if certain cultivation practices cause this? Free seeds are good!

Seeds from hermaphrodite plants will carry dominant genes or being hermaphrodites too. Not good unless you are trying to breed a line of hermaphrodite plants! They WILL NOT be feminized. Hermaphrodites are generally the first (genetic) step backwards in reversion to hemp.

These are the top buds. Any input from the peanut gallery as to how they look. I want them to be done, but don't want my impatience to get in the way. Thanks for the input. Cheers

Too bad the batch got impregnated by some hermi action. Still with a little sifting the bud is a tasty high. Very resinous buds. Smell tarry. Great success however seeing the light of indoor gardening.
