This is my second time growing the Royal Highness strain. It's my favorite strain at the moment. I love her complex terpene profile and effect. This time the goal is to grow a single plant and try to give it a nice and open structure using scrog. I'm germinating the seed directly in the Root It seedplug, which went very well last time. I like how you can simply plant the seedplug in the substrate when the sapling has sprouted, without any risk of damaging the sapling's root. The Sanlight is an upgraded Q3WL Gen2 giving it a capacity of max 135 Watt. Many thanks to Sanlight for the great upgrade service!

Moving the tiny plant to the 11L pot went very well, she shows no signs of stress. In this early stage I find it the biggest challenge not to give too much water, without having the coco drying out. The Biotabs take care of the nutrition so I can focus on training the plant :) On day 12 I set the dimmer on the Sanlight Q3W to 80% now that the leaves have started to grow, and moved the lamp a little bit higher to avoid light stress.

The plant is developing very well. The Sanlight is now at 100% and the fanleaves are growing each day. Can't wait to start training. I noticed the plant is bending slightly to the right. This could be due to the clipfan which is running in the daylight hours. During the nighttime I have the humidifier set to 65%. I cannot get the humidifier and the clipfan to play nicely together. If I switch on the humidifier and the clipfan I get a lot of condensation that almost floods by growbox. Perhaps this will be solved once the plant is larger and the clipfan is positioned higher than the humidifier.

Since a day or 2 the leaves started hanging. Perhaps this is due to over watering? I have reused 70% of the substrate of my last grow and for the top layer I added new coco with clay balls. Can the old roots in the coco substrate make the substrate retain more water?

Coco needs to stay wet always. Being a coco grower myself. I think your ph is out of range. You can not over water in coco unless you let it sit in run off. For vegging you need 5.8 ph in 5.8 ph out in run off test. Flowering is 6.1 or 6.2. Calmag is generally needed in coco. Heavy irrigation is what makes plants thrive in coco substrate. If your ph numbers are not right flush with ph water till run off is right. Then reapply nutrition at right ph. Let drain good and put under light again. Don't take soil advice for coco grows.

Week 3 has a bumpy start. The plant started to look less healthy the last few days. After adding some Cal-Mag from Biobizz yesterday she seems to be recovering. The PH of the runoff water is now 5.9 which should be ok. I wanted to start topping today, but I decided to wait for a few days to give the plant some time to recover. Also I removed the Flower Care bluetooth measuring device from the soil. It might be a coincidence but the plant started to look less healthy from the moment I placed the device in the substrate. The plant is recovering very well after flushing with CalMag. Starting today I'm adding 5ml Orgatrex to every 1L of water. PH of the runoff water is still slightly under 6. Later this week I topped the plant and removed some of the bigger fanleaves so the side branches receive more light.

I setup the ScrOG net above the plant so I can begin training the branches. The plant is doing well with the CalMag and excessive watering. To give the plant a boost of additional nutrients I'm preparing some Bio Tabs compost tea. It will be ready by tomorrow as it has to bubble for 24 - 26 hours before use.

I started the 12-12 light schedule today after the plant was in the dark for 48 hours. The branches are filling the SCrOG net and I hope to start guiding them throught the net this week.

Trying to create a nicely distributed canopy. I'm leading some of the side branches to the far edge of the ScrOG net to give the inner branches a chance to develop. One thing I notice is that a textile net is not the best choice. The threads are too flexible and make it hard to properly guide the branches. It will have to do for this grow though 😅

The biggest branches have reached the edges of the ScrOG net. I've not yet decided if I want to bend them some more and give the newly formed inner branches time to develop. More on that once the branches have grown a little higher. This week I started with Bio Tabs Bio PK 5-8, and in addition I'm trying the Epic Bloom from HY-Pro. Kudos to greensell.nl for sending it as a freebee in my latest order 🙌 A few days ago I notices that some of the bottom leaves near the stem are turning yellow. Since the plant receives enough nutrients, I'm suspecting the PH is off. A test with a PH strip in the runoff water indicates the PH is between 6 and 7, which is too high for coco substrate. To better monitor the PH, I ordered a PH measurement device and PH Min to get a healthy PH in the coming week. It would be a shame if the plant develops slower in this stage where it should be developing juicy buds.

After checking the water with the PH meter I noticed the tap water has a PH of 7.4. The feeding water with all the nutrients added has a PH of 6.0 on the other hand, which is within the desired range. I will check the leaves regularly this week to see of any more leaves turn yellow. To give the plant a little boost, I added some compost tea to the daily menu. The ScrOG is going according to plan. There are a lot of smaller branches with buds developing in the center. In the last day of the 8th grow week I'm still struggling to keep the PH at the desired level with PH Min. If I add PH Min to the tap water I manage to get it to 6.1 with 1 ml. But the nutrients also have an effect on the PH level of the water which results in a PH around 5.5 which is too low. What I'm going to do in this next grow weel is first add all the nutrients and leave the solution alone for a while, then measure and then add PH Min. I noticed the drop in PH doesn't start immediately after adding PH Min, and that made me add too much into the solution.

The Royal Highness is developing nice colas and looks more healthy now that I check the PH before each watering, although it's not optimal yet. Still a few yellow leaves near the bottom branches. I also noticed the plant already has a lot of trichromes on the leaves. I think this could be the result of the upgraded Sanlight. I'm pretty happy with this grow sofar 😃

The plant is now forming colas and no longer stretching anymore. In hindsight I could have waited a week or two extra before switching to the flowering light schedule. There's a lot of vertical space left in the growbox. But the buds and trichromes look very well and the smell is really strong and spicy.

The trichromes are really starting to grow. Untill now I never seen this many trichromes develop so I guess that's the upgraded Sanlight working it's magic. Some of the leaves showed some burned tips so I eased on the feeding schedule. One day I ust give tap water, and the next day I stick to the normal feeding schedule. My estimate is that the plant requires at least three more weeks before harvest so I expect the buds to swell up in the coming weeks. I also noticed the photos of the buds don't look too good with the grow light on, so I'm trying to take the pictures just after the growlights turn off from now on.

The buds are devloping really well. Nice orange tones are allearing among the resin filled sugar leaves. The smell is amzing and my carbon filter is having a hard time keeping the smell inside the growbox 😋. When watering the plant I noticed many small larvae like things swimming in the water. I ordered some nematodes to get rid of them. If they start to chip away from the roots it could slow the plant's grow in this important stage. And I need the plant to focus on growing those buds! Instead of adding nutrients with every watering I'm easing down I'm giving nutrients every other day. There's no rational thought behind it, but I felt the plant needed a little bit less.

The plant is coloring beautifully. I’m just giving water and no more nutrition. Waiting for the harvest is the hardest part 😅 Today I inspected the trichromes and there were already a few amber colored ones visible, quite a few milky ones and some were still transparant. I guess Saturday is harvest time (no better setting than watching Netflix with my wife, the harvest and the Trimbin on my lap). Having the fresh harvest in my hands after months of work is so rewarding. I will share some pics of the harvest and trimming on Sunday. Can't wait to try out the first scissor hash in my vaporizer after trimming.

First off thanks for all your comments and likes. Growing Cannabis is just so much nicer when you have like minded people to share your experience with. I had a lot of fun with this grow, I learned a lot from my first ScrOG and the yield was beyond my expectations. Looking at the quality of the buds and smell, this has been a really good harvest. I will share a smoke review as soon as the buds have been cured for a few weeks.
