Starting seeds off by soaking in a mixture of Reverse Osmosis water, cal Mag, seaweed extract. Adjusted ph from 8.5 to 6.5. I will soak for 15-20 hours before sowing seeds about .5 inches below the soil. My Happy Frog soil is old and resisting water, so I’m starting to soak it today with the same seaweed water.
I am actually attempting three seeds, but I only plan to proceed with two assuming they all make it. I’m undecided…..
The three being attempted include Seedsman LA Peyote Kush, Seedsman Purple Ghost Candy, and DNA Crew Godfather OG.
They are sitting in a propagation tray with water in the bottom and a heat mat underneath the tray. The warmth should help move things along. Now we wait……
As far as a cultivar description, here it is from pacific seedbank.
“If Don Corleone was the kind to partake in pot, rest assured his favorite strain would have been Godfather OG marijuana, an indulgently potent, prize-winning indica-dominant hybrid featuring a remarkable 28% THC.
That whopping THC content may make Godfather OG marijuana seem slightly intimidating, the initial high brings on feelings of happiness and euphoria. It isn’t long before you will notice the indica side, as its calming effects slowly make their way from head to foot releasing tension and leaving you in a state of complete relaxation. The intensity of its effects may prove too much for some users – you may want to know what you’re doing before you engage with the likes of Godfather OG.
The characteristics of Godfather OG marijuana make this strain equally attractive to both recreational and medical consumers: along with being adept at stress relief, it can prove a powerful pain reliever, an aid against insomnia, and an appetite stimulant for patients who may be undergoing treatment such as chemotherapy.
One might assume that Godfather OG would have a heady aroma, not unlike cigars, but you’d be wrong. In fact, the fragrance of Godfather OG is more like a grassy plain with notes of earth and pine, and an unmistakable hint of grape. Its flavor is as charming as its scent, though the grape comes over more pronounced.
The secret to scoring fantastic pot from Godfather OG marijuana seeds remains elusive, but if we take its genetics into consideration, all signs point to it being a relatively easy strain to cultivate, even for beginners. Godfather OG marijuana should be flowering for around 8 to 9 weeks before its fragrant buds are ready for harvest, offering up about 14 ounces of sticky herb for your enjoyment.

All three seeds have popped. I originally planted three and intended to keep the two that lived.
Seeds popped the soil after four days. Now entering the seedling stage for 2-3 weeks (still tracked as veg here). Predicting a harvest date of 3/9/2023. Wow….that seems so far away.
I’ve done research and I’m no longer planning to do a SCROG. I will be using plant training called Quadlining to train these plants. It involves topping above the 4th node and removing the bottom two nodes. That leaves four branches to use Low Stress Training to spread them out for an even canopy. More info at 420 Magazine online. It’s new to me.
I’m misting them with Reverse Osmosis water plus CalMag (4 ml/gallon) plus seaweed extract (28ml/gallon). Water is ph’d to 6.5. (My tap water is over 9 ph and requires ph down)
Daily Activities Tracked Below (the boring stuff)
-Misting top layer of soil 3x per day with seaweed water (Ro water, seaweed extract and CalMag)
-When cups are light, I add 3-5 ml of seaweed water around the sides of the cup.
On Tuesday, I added an oscillating fan at seedling level. Low speed….but enough to wind to force the seedlings to strengthen their stems.
On Wednesday, I used the Photone iPhone app to dial in the light better. I increased the light (20” high) from a 10% setting to a 20% setting. Lamp recommendation for seedlings at 18 inches and 30% intensity, so I’m still below recommended. I started out at 10% intensity the last few days.
Some stretching in LA Peyote sprout, so more light is likely needed for all three. So i raise the intensity and reduced the hours. I reduced light timing from 24 hours to 20 hours of light to give them some darkness.
On Thursday, raised light intensity to 30% at 20”.
Monday: only misted one time to allow the cups to dry out a little
Tuesday: cups too light….I didn’t water enough. Misted with seaweed extract water and added 8ml of seaweed water to solo cups
Wednesday: misted and watered lightly. They Dry out quickly even with 65% humidity in the veg tent.
Thursday: misted only….plenty of water in the cups.
Friday:
Saturday:
Continue to mist with RO water with CalMag and seaweed extract. Ph to 6.5. Misting 1-2x per day. Using syringe to add small amounts to soil as needed, but not frequently.
On Friday, 13 days after sprouting, I transplanted into one gallon containers,
Welcome to week 3 of the seedling/veg stage. I transplanted into one gallon yesterday. I am now misting with RO water, CalMag and seaweed extract mixture daily. I’ll water with the same mixture if the pots feel light.
130 watt LED at 18” and 50% intensity now. Recommended level for seedlings is 18” and 30% intensity. Recommended level for vegetative mode is 18” and 70% intensity. I’m slowly working my way up to 70%.
Thursday- Removed bottom 2 branches of plant for beginning of quadlining training.
On Saturday, I added EM-1 soil conditioner (beneficial bacteria) to the foliar feed and drench. Now I’m using one oz of seaweed extract and one oz of EM-1 per gallon.
Topping above the fourth node next week…..stay tuned.
Foliar feeding daily with RO water, CalMag, seaweed extract and EM-1 soil conditioner. When the pots are light, I drench with the same liquid. I prefer to foliar feed outside the tent so that the spray doesn’t mess up my LEDs.
Following the Quadlining approach. Removed bottom two nodes, and topped above the fourth node. The remaining 4 branches will be spread out using low stress training.
Lights are at 18” and 50% intensity still starting the week. On Tuesday, increased intensity to 80%. On Thursday, increased to 100%.
Recommended for veg is 70% intensity.
On Thursday, I used landscape stakes to flatten out the four remaining branches.
Quadline training continues. The Godfather is my leafiest tree so far and will be most likely to require some defoliation. I readjusted the stakes to spread out the branches like an X.
Still using a foliar feed with seaweed extract and EM1. Added Flora Micro and FloraBloom to the mix in small quantities.
After a dry week in the tent (55% humidity), decided to increase humidity this week to 65%. Added humidifier.
On Monday, I top watered and fed. Also defoliated by removing the 4 inward facing fan leaves that block potential bud sites. Quadline training continues.
Weeks start on Sunday and end on Saturday.
On Sunday, The quadline training continues. Today I will defoliate to insure that light is reaching all nodes. Also will evaluate if it’s time to top the plant. I Increased Flora series Micro to 3ml and Bloom to 6ml.
On Wednesday, increased Micro to 4ml/g and Bloom to 8ml/g. Topped four nodes this week. Missed one, and caught it today.
Topped.
Following Lucas formula with GH Flora series where Bloom is always twice the amount of Micro (and no Gro). See photo. New approach to nutrients for me.
Thursday, increased GH Flora Micro to 5 ml/g and Bloom to 10ml/g. (2:1 ratio of Bloom to Micro per Lucas formula)
Note that I am using ACInfinity self-watering bases with reservoirs. Tested the nutrients and they were at a ph of 7.0 and ppm at 850. These bases work well so far, but I can see how roots could grow into the wicks if you don’t take the time to move the planters daily. Roots are sticking out of the fiber pots.
On Friday, someone pointed out that I may be underpowered for flower. After further review, I agree. One Timber 320 watt 3vl lamp wasn’t enough for my 2x4 flowering tent with a SCROG.
So I’ve added a second lamp today. See photo.
Now it’s a dimmed 640 watts putting out 63,000 lux across the canopy.
All weeks will now begin on Saturday and end on Friday…..works better for my weekly update schedule.
Big changes to the tent on Friday. I added another 320 watts of light for a total of 665 watts covering 8 square feet. My light was insufficient for flower last time…I won’t make that mistake again.
83 watts per square foot if I go full blast without using the dimmer. That’s going to generate some heat, so I’ll be monitoring for a while. I have them dimmed down to provide 63,000 lux worth of light.
SATURDAY
Removed a few leaves, adjusted reservoir water from ph 7.1 to ph 6.5. These AC Infinity self-watering bases are working well so far. Based on how short this plant is staying, I can squeeze another week or two of veg out of her.
SUNDAY
Heavier defoliation. Topped off reservoir in bases. Readjusted stakes.
MONDAY
Quadline training continues. Tied down large branches to grommets built into fiber pots. Staked down smaller branches with landscape spikes. Minor defol. Still working to dial in a good temperature with the extra LED added. Adding heat to the grow room.
TUESDAY
Cleaned and filled reservoir for Godfather. Removed a few leaves from lower third of plant. Fed 6 ml Micro and 12ml of Bloom.
WEDNESDAY
all growth is primarily upwards at this point, so I’m ready to flip to flower. I’d rather have extra space than an overly-crowded tent. Switching to 12/12 lighting tonight. Will start Flower journal on Saturday. Plan to increase Micro and Bloom now that we are moving into flower. Plan to verify tent is light-proof today in dark room.
Next flower week will be 10 days from today so that I’m back on a Saturday start days for journals.
I’m concerned about space in my small 2x4 tent, so I’m switching to flower 3 days early. I do not own a par meter, but I used my lux meter to increase light from 53,000 lux to 72,000 lux.
Day shortened from 19 hours to 12 hours.
Checked reservoir water and it’s full. I intend to raise the Micro to 8 ml and Bloom to 16ml per gallon over next 2 feedings. No signs of toxicity. So far this Lucas Formula has been a very simple and cost-effective strategy for GH Flora nutrients. Let’s see how it does in flower mode.
Due to the high ppm of my tap water, I’ve switched to Micro for Hard Water…..which lowers ppm by removing calcium from the mix.
This Godfather OG has been an incredible training opportunity for me. She was the easiest of the three plants to practice Quadlining on and had the best results so far. She taught me the potential if you start training early,
Feeding Schedule
In summary, I used Lucas recipe in FFOF soil in 5 gallon containers. Always 2:1 ratio of GH Flora Bloom to Flora Micro.
Early Veg. 2 Micro / 4 Bloom
Late Veg. 5 Micro / 10 Bloom increased to 7 Micro / 14 Bloom
Flower 8 Micro / 16 Bloom
Notes:
Included 2ml/g of CalMag, Micro for Hardwater, humic acid, Seaweed Extract in veg, Silica in veg and stretch, homemade Terpinator in flower.
Saturday: after experimenting with the Photone app on multiple Apple devices, I discovered that the IPad mini camera seems to be the most accurate light measurement device. (Tested iPhone 6 and XR too). Using DLI (Daily Light Integral) now to dim LEDs and set targets. I was running much higher DLI before getting the app and following their advice. So far I’m impressed with the app (Pro version with Cannabis guide and white LED lighting).
Monday: added 1.5ml of Micro and 3 ml of CalMag to one gallon reservoir under the Godfather OG. Hungry plant needs more nitrogen during flower stretch.
Tuesday: replenished reservoir which was half empty. Added 2ml of micro to reservoir. Still looks hungry for nitrogen.
Wednesday: filled reservoir. Added 2.5ml of liquid Koolbloom. Lowered ph from 7.1 to 6.5 in reservoir. She’s been asking for more nitrogen.
Thursday: emptied, cleaned and filled reservoirs with fresh nutes.
Friday: filled reservoirs which were 60-70% empty after one night. They’re thirsty. Removed landscape stakes and twist tie holding limbs down. Removed a few leaves….not many. I will defoliate in week 3 of flower.
Welcome to Week #9 since birth and Day 10 of flower. She’s not showing much flower activity yet that I can see. Plenty of bud sites, but they are small.
Saturday: topped off water reservoir with .7 gallons. Raised LED by three inches and adjusted dimmers using Photone app. See recordings. Very Light defoliation. Mixed up feed for tomorrow. Photone reports attached.
Monday: defoliated (not too heavily). Noticed some leaf droop following defoliation. Topped off one gallon water reservoirs with .75 gallons of nutrients.
Wednesday. Topped off reservoir. Plant has grown 4 inches this week from 11 inches to 15 inches.
Thursday: Topped off reservoir. Used a Photone app to dial in DLI at 40. Checked ph in reservoir …. All ok.
Friday: topped off reservoir. Size is up to 16”.
Welcome to the start of week 3 of 12/12 lighting. So far they seem pleased with their nutrients and light intensity. I am continuing to test the Daily Light Integral to prevent providing too little or too much light. It took some work, but I’ve been able to use the Photone app with some degree of confidence in the accuracy. It measures par, DLI and lux by using your iPhone.
Saturday: Topped off reservoir in self watering feeder. Roughly half gallon used yesterday. These feeders do a very nice job. I’m continuing to feed the “Lucas Formula” (can be googled) using GH Flora nutrients. The plants have responded very positively so far….it’s cheap and easy and effective. I like it! Decided to clean up the lower third of the canopy after taking the pictures.
Sunday: finished defoliation. Topped off nutrient reservoirs and checked ph/ppm in reservoirs. Verified par readings are between 700-1150. No leaf stress under 1150 par.
Adjusted to 6.5 ph.
Monday: topped off reservoir which is at 1350ppm and 6.6ph.
Wednesday: topped off reservoirs. Checked ppm and ph in reservoirs.
I was suspicious of potential salt buildup around the roots with this self-watering system, so I flushed with 6 gallons of water and Florakleen in 3 gallons. First runoff ppm at 4,000! By the end, ppm was 1800. Pumped 1.5 gallons of 1200ppm nutrient water thru the plant at the end.
Thursday: recovered from the flush….looks great. I realized that the stretch wasn’t as bad as i expected. I can squeeze all three plants into one 2x4 tent. Posted above….with Purple Ghost Candy, Godfather OG and LA Peyote Kush in order from left to right.
Friday…noticed that the pot is still heavy from the flush on Wednesday. Reservoir is at 50% empty, so she’s been drinking. Plan to refill containers with 6.5 ph 1200 ppm nutrients,
Topped off reservoir with nutrient solution at 1200ppm and 6.3ph. Removed Purple Ghost Candy from the 2x4 and put in 2x2. Remaining two plants given extra space in 2x4. Added a tower fan for better circulation.
Daily: top off reservoir with 1300ppm nutrient solution / ~6.5 ph
Weekly: check reservoir ppm and ph
EOW: empty and rinse reservoirs
Plants are using roughly half gallon of nutrients through reservoirs. Slowing down their consumption compared to veg and stretch.
Friday: topped off reservoir with .6 gallons. Looking very healthy. No changes needed at this time.
Weeks start on Saturdays, so today is the start of week 5 since 12/12. My maintenance plan is as follows…..
Daily: fill reservoirs with 1250 ppm nutrients / 6.3 ph
Weekly: check reservoir ph and ppm levels
Every other week: empty and clean reservoirs
I had been cleaning the reservoirs every two weeks, but I realized that I haven’t had to do it since I stopped using seaweed extract and EM1 in the nutrient solution. I actually haven’t had to clean the reservoirs since I stopped. (I still did, but it wasn’t necessary).
Sunday: She’s getting nice and frosty. Tested my new phone camera on Sunday and noticed that the Trichomes on my 5 week old buds are cloudy….I find that interesting as she’s not anywhere near ready for harvest. Maybe they will turn clear.
Wednesday: topped off reservoir. 1250 ppm and 6.2 ph.
Saturday is the start of the week for me, so a few glamour shots to start the week. No new activity planned. I will continue to fill the reservoirs daily with nutrients. I am not top feeding these plants….all water is thru the wicking action of the bases.
Thursday: it’s almost the end of the week, so I added a few photos. Looking healthy! 4-5 weeks of flower left to go. This plant is showing a potassium deficiency on the older leaves. Adding liquid koolbloom to stop the spread.
Im a day late posting the start of week 7 of flower…..I usually start my weeks on Saturday. As usual, I filled reservoirs with 1200 ppm nutrient solution at 6.3 ph.
Filling reservoirs daily. Target ph at 6.6 this week.
Trichomes looking promising in week 7. This is an 8-10 week strain.
Weeks start on Saturday, so today is the start of Week #9.
Filled the self watering base reservoirs with 1300ppm and 6.6 ph. Probably 1-2 weeks of flower left, so I will contemplate reducing nutrients as we get closer to harvest.
Plants are almost too heavy and too big to move for photos any more. Photos before harvest will likely be taken with the plants in the tent.
Monday: plants are less than 2 weeks away from harvest likely, so reducing some nutrients. Cut back micro to zero. Lowered ppm from 1300 to 1150. Used Ph up to raise ph to 6.6.
Wednesday…..filled reservoir, snapped trichome photographs. Estimating two more weeks before harvest. Buds are getting heavy….won’t be coming out of the tent again until harvest.
End of week, filled reservoirs with 6.4 ph nutrient solution. Looks like two more weeks until harvest still. The plants are becoming too top heavy to take out for photographs, so expect mostly tent photos from this point forward. See you next week.
Another Saturday, so it’s the start of another grow week.
Now we are at week 10 and possibly the final week before harvest. I will check trichomes again mid-week. I will post photos. Earlier photos showed clear trichomes.
Daily Activity: Top off reservoir with 1050ppm nutrient solution and 6.5 ph.
Checked trichomes on Wednesday and the harvest window appears to be open. I will wait a few more days. The pistils are mostly orange and are starting to curl.
It’s Saturday, so another week begins. The colas are too heavy to move this plant for photos. I plan to harvest next weekend. I will post trichome photos this week to confirm she is ready for harvest
On Thursday, I decided to do a partial harvest of the tops. I want to give the lower canopy some light for a few more days to help them ripen more. Before and after photo above.
Love the training 💪 I normally do a standard manifold but I'm learning how to do these quads. Take a look at mine if you would, I'd love any advice you may have
@Cyrusdavirus, I’ll head over and take a look, but this is my first time following a Quadlining tutorial. It’s definitely not rocket science, but it’s a nice simple process that’s easy to follow so far. I may not be much help.
@@T_Dub, I think I only have two going in there, the Silver Widow and Amnesia fast the rest are standard manifolds
Merry Christmas to you and the family 🤶🎅🎄
@Cyrusdavirus, I hope you’re right Cyrus. She’s a bushy one….keeping me on my toes. I am really enjoying this Quadline training technique….how is yours coming? Any specific diary with quadline going?
Merry Christmas Eve to you Cyrus!
