Kosher Haze courtesy of the good people at Super Sativa Seeds...I loved TNT Trichome abd Strawberry Cookies from the same breeder, hopefully this one follows suit
I've had good luck growing in coco, less so with DWC using hydroton. I lined the net pot with a single layer of cheesecloth, enough to keep the bulk of the coco in but porous enough to easily allow the roots thru. I'm sure some coco will pass thru during the grow but since I'm not using a water pump, who cares?
Hannah is currently in a solo cup with 70/30 coco/perlite, watered twice a day until at least 10% runoff. I'm using a slightly diluted solution of Lucas Formula using GH Maxibloom and watching closely for any calmag deficiency.
Looking for a cheap alternative to Orca/Recharge/Mic. Mass/Tarantula or something to make crazy root growth in DWC and keep root rot at bay. Would toilet compost microbes work? Pond sludge remover has helped me but I'm hoping others have ideas - I want roots like in the pic!
DNS, Dutch nutrient solution. Made for DWC. Clear nutrients. When using this your roots won't get stained, so it's easy to see if roots are doing good or something is going wrong..
Moved Kabala into her fancy new home. So far the bucket is just DTW until the roots begin looking for water below the net pot. Cut the Lucas formula in half while bumping up the calmag for the coco. It's still early, but Monkey Juice seems to be hosting root growth in some of my other plants, hopefully itll help me get some mega roots in the dwc.
After one final drench, Kabala is now fully dwc. The roots had zero trouble passing through the cheesecloth and everything looked great - until the jucus. The roots have globs of a jizz/mucus kinda bacterial growth on them. The top of the res water always has bubbles. So theres no question I have rampant microbial growth and I'm pretty sure it's from the Monkey Juice. If she stays healthy, it's good bacteria, if she gets sick, its root rot again....nothing to do now but wait and hope. The plants I've topped lately have taken a long time to recover so I'm gonna wait at least until the 7th node appears.
Things seem well...changed the reservoir, seems to always be where things go wrong for me, I'm hoping the jucus from Monkey Juice will keep the bad bacteria at bay. Topped Kabala and removed the lower shoots to prep her for mainlining.
Well I'm stumped...ppm 600, pH 5.9...it certainly looks like nutrient burn but it can't be, tips yellow then darken and curl and get crispy. 3 days between pics in question and in diary. My only guess is that I upgraded from knockoff 100W LED to Mars Hydro 150W. Any ideas?
Your plant is completely locked out. And is eating itself alive. To stay alive.
You need to empty out that mix. It's full of the wrong stuff.
You need core NPK grow nutrients and bloom.. get the basics going and then push the bloom boosters (when it's time, it's not now buddy)
A very light 4-600 grow mix with an enzyme in their if your water temp is below 22c.
Fuck it, I'm pulling the plug....overnight she completely fell apart, drooping as if half dead. Lift the lid and sure enough the roots are caked with jucus, I guess it wasnt rhw good kind :-(
So that's it for me and DWC for now. Gonna stick to coco, seems to me it's basically hydroponics without worrying about the roots. I recently added an air stone to a coco grow and the root growth was unbelievable - that's how I'm gonna approach hydro for the time being. I'm still a novice, for dwc, like MacArthur, I shall return...
In coco you want lots of run off. In excess till pH is right. 5.8. However much it takes to get runoff to right level pH. Then always finish with feed. Good luck. 🌱
