Week 1 Veg
Super excited about this one! I wanna say a huge thank you and shoutout to Safdelajungla 🌴 and Stoned Ninja 🍇 for sending me these beans. If you don't already know, Ninja has started a new venture with Dojo Seed Co so give them a follow and watch out for some 🔥
Here we have another dank offspring of his infamous Ninja Fruit 🍇 to be grown in the Den; Fruit Helmet (Dark Helmet x Ninja Fruit).
Just like the Surf Purps, I'm germinating 4 beans in the hopes that the majority (or all) will be female. Let's hope I get the same luck as I did with the Surf Purp girls! my method is simple; just a wet paper towel in an open bag, placed in a dark drawer. Amazingly one of them popped and was ready for transplanting after only 48hrs! So #3 started life above the coco a day before the rest, but I'll be numbering the days from the others. When transplanting the newly popped seeds, I don't fill the cup to the top with coco, I fill them 3 quarters of the way or less to allow for the initial seedling stretch before being back-filled. This is to prevent having long stretchy, lanky seedling that can't stand properly. You can fill the cup up to the cotyledon leaves, as this part will quickly grow roots too. I done this on day 3. They were started on only water and EM1. Their first nutrient feeding was on Day 6, which was only a light feeding of Cal-Mag to get their roots used to a higher ppm. I try not to soak the cups too much until their roots are more substantial. Doing this gets them drinking quicker and promotes faster root growth.
They're all looking great after their first week above the coco. Looking forward to next week!

Week 2 Veg
At the end of the week I introduced liquid silicon and Remo's base nutrients; grow, micro and bloom at a similar ratio to when I was using GH 3 part. Although still not too strong whilst they're small and young.
A good looking bunch, but surprisingly #3 is now slightly behind the rest and seems a lil stunted. I think she might have had a lil bit more water than the rest on a previous feeding, but she should be ok.

Week 3 Veg
Most of the nutrients have been increased very slightly now that they can take it. Cal-Mag was increased the most, to 1ml per ltr.
Due to being short of space, this bunch may be in their cups for a little bit longer. FH3 is having some issues whereas the rest are looking great. It's had the same treatment as the rest, so if it doesn't bounce back and keep up then it can be replaced with a nice Surf Purp clone. But for now we'll try to get it back on its feet. All the others are looking very happy and healthy.

Week 4 Veg
Not much has changed nutrient wise and this bunch are still in their cups. Pheno's 1, 2 and 4 were topped at the 3rd node. I decided not to top #3 just yet, to give it a chance to catch up with the rest. Topping them not only creates two new tops, but it takes away most of the hormones that are more concentrated at the top of the plant (auxins). By doing this, the new growth lower down the plant at other node sites will have faster growth respectively. This will allow the lower side branches to grow tall enough to reach the top of the plant (or close to) and produces more of a bushy plant than a Christmas tree shape.
This is the last full week I'll be keeping them in the cups, so they should really start to take off once they've got new shoes. The only reason I've kept them in those cups for this long is to keep them small with slower growth. Usually I'd transplant around day 20 but it's a crowded veg tent, with a little longer to go whilst we wait for another flowering plant to be harvested.

Week 5 Veg
These girls are showing a bit of damage from having a bad pH so they were given a maintenance flush to reset the pH to the correct level, in order to be them feeding again. Any time I've noticed something wrong with my plants it's always been because of their pH. So before anything else, this must be corrected. It's annoying as it's because of a new pen I have, that I constantly have to calibrate yet it's been reading a very wrong reading every time it's used. With that being the case I've gone back to my old pen! On a positive note I did want to keep them small and stunt them for a bit as I was short on space, so it's kind of helped me in a way!
On day 35 they were all transplanted into their final pots, which are 2gal Root Pouches. After transplanting, they were fed a lighter strength feeding as to ensure not to burn their root tips and stress them further. All are looking healthy by the end of the week. I decided to top #3, and will LST the others so they don't get too much taller.

Week 6 Veg
I've kept the nutrients as they were last week. It's worth noting that my tap water has gradually increased in dissolved solids and has been doing so for a little while. If it carries on its rise I'll have no choice but to switch to RO as it can cause problems.
Towards the end of the week they were given their first round of LST (Low Stress Training), apart from #3 until her two new tops and lower nodes have grown a bit more. Training is a great method for creating a canopy of multiple branches. The aim is to eventually make all of the main branches as even in height as possible. Watch your plants shape and each branch as they grow, and train accordingly to maintain the shape as much as possible. After only a couple of hours from tying any branches down, you'll notice them starting to turn towards the light.
After being stunted for a little while they're finally looking happier and healthier this week. #3 still has some catching up to do but it'll get there.

Week 7 Veg
Not much has changed this week in the veg tent. Micro has been increased by a minimal amount just while I'm playing around with the ratios/strengths of the new nutrient line. It could take a little while (even a few cycles) before I get it just right, baring in mind every strains specific needs may be slightly different, but a good balance can usually be found for the majority.
The LST has worked a treat for all that were tied, creating perfect little bushes with even branch heights. #3 was bent and tied from the top of the main stem to bring her top branches closer to her lower nodes. Hopefully this will be enough to spread the hormones and encourage faster growth from the lower branches, allowing them to catch up with the top two. More training will be needed but she should pretty much have an even canopy before they're thrown into flower.
They're looking happy and showing a nice healthy green allround.

Week 8 Veg
A short week this week as they were thrown into the flower tent on Day 53 Veg.
I've got my fingers crossed for #3 to be female as she's clearly the most indica dominant of the bunch, with a short strong structure and fat fingered leaves. She definitely stands out the most between all of them.
As soon as there was room in the flower tent they were moved into their new space to finish off the rest of their cycle. The tallest two were placed at the back, with the shortest two at the front of the tent. This is just to make it easier to maintain them all, otherwise the shorter plants would be out of reach at the back if the front two were to get too tall. Any pheno could stretch more than others, but it's good to try and think ahead and plan to suit.
