Not much to show this week. I was gone all week so it was exciting to see what I came home to. Everything looks good so far but it looks like the seed stayed on too long on one leaf causing a tiny burn, but shouldn't affect anything in the long run.
I'm growing in Colorado and the humidity is way too low in the tent. I have a humidity dome sitting on top of it right now to keep the drip system from melting it, but it's not doing much to help with the humidity in the dome it looks like. I ordered a LEVOIT Humidifier and I'm going to use it to boost it up a bit. I also turned my circulation fan off for now and my filter fan is on low. We'll see how that helps it along.
No ferts yet, I like to wait until there's a second set of true leaves before I add anything.
Excited to see where this one goes 😃
I 100% screwed up this grow, but decided to tough it out and learn from it. This is my first time using rockwool as a medium and I did not know that it needed to be treated/lowered in PH before planting. I decided to try and correct the issue and you can see those results in week 4 of the veg.
Getting a bit more life out of it (See week 1 of veg for info). Since the second leaves came in I gave it a very light fertilization. I did have a the first set of leaves die on me so trying to be delicate here.
Looks like I was able to salvage her! She's starting to grow out quick now. Looking forward to how the grow continues now that I fixed the PH issue. Also cut out some corrugated plastic to size to help keep the algae growth down.
Starting the light stress training and topped the plant this week. I also did some light defoliation to remove leaves that were affected by low phosphorus and to start the lollipop method I have seen done, but never tried much of myself.
This week I upped the nutrients a bit more than I was initially going to, mostly to get the phosphorus up, and next week I'll focus in on my final nutrient percentages that I'll use for the rest of the vegetive stage. Because my grow seemed a bit stunted at the beginning this time, I'm going to give this grow out period 3-4 more weeks before I start the flowering stage. I know this plant can get some more nodes going that's the plan going forward!
I did a heavy defoliation this week but after a few days she's already bounced back. Most of the pictures are right after the defoliation. I also added D hooks to the lid of my bucket to help with the LST, this worked out great! Definitely a technique I'll be using in the future. It also looks like the phosphorus deficiency I was seeing a little over a week ago has been fixed. I'm gonna give her 2 more weeks before I flip to flowering unless she starts a heavy vertical leap.
I also increased all the ferts again. I hope this doesn't bite me in the ass since I'll be traveling for work this week and won't be able to do a flush if things go sideways. It's been a few days since the increase though and I don't see any leaf burning yet so (fingers crossed) should be good!
First set of pics are before any defoliation, she bounced back a lot in 6 days! Love to see it. She has grown at least an inch every day. Second batch of pics show that I defoliated enough to get the big fan leaves out of the way of nodes and I also did a little bit more LST in an attempt to get each branch open and free. Last week of veg and then I'm switching to flower.
Feeling really good on how well she's done over the past few weeks. Did my best this week to tie back more branches so I have more lateral growth. Also defoliated any fan leaves that were covering any node and thinned out the lower middle a bit. I love the hooks, they have worked out so much better than the LST plastic bends. She's officially switched to flower as of 2/10. Thanks for reading!
She's really taking to the fert schedule and drinking up about a gallon of water a day at this point. I'm only going to be defoliating fan leaves that are blocking other nodes now for at least a few weeks. Mid flower I'll probably give her one last major trim but that'll be it.
Nothing much to report this week! Just cruising along and letting her do her thing with mild trimmings. She's starting to show some good signs of flowering, feeling good! Thanks for checking her out!
Alright all caught up, this is what she looks like currently. Switched out Liquid KoolBloom this week for Ripen. Ripen will go this week and into next and hopefully after that I'll have enough time to do a flush with some FloraKleen :) Shes turning quick now so we'll see. The photos with the weird lens effect were taken with just a typical magnifying glass, thought it looked kinda neat so I kept it. Usually I use a digital microscope but mine has stopped working after a recent update, whomp whomp.
The microscope pics are from a few days ago, the rest were from last Friday. Currently doing a flush, and harvesting shortly! This was a fun one!
Just an FYI to anyone reading looking at the nutrients, they are updated each week. I did start getting a little leaf tip burn at around week 13 when I had the phosphorus above 30ml/g. I'd probably still give that amount in the future, it was minor and the buds look great! I also used 10ml/g of FloraKleen for my flush.
Thanks for reading!
I broke down and purchased a Vivosun 19" bud trimmer for this one. It probably did trim off a lot more than if I did it by hand, but this entire crop is for personal use only and I came out with a LOT. It's going to be a bit before I have a need to grow another but I'll probably start again in August/September.
