DaMunchies 12/22/22 - 12/23/22
I started the seeds with 1 day soaking in a glass of water and then 1 day in a paper towel and zip lock bag.
12/24/22:
Today I added them to starter pots with the same soil mix that will be used in their next and final 5gal bag.
I added a little myco bliss to the seed area before placing it in all 6 plants.
I used a water mist bottle to moisten the soil with water ph'ed to roughly 6.6.
I misted the inside of humidity domes for each plant.
I placed them in the grow tent slightly elevated off the floor.
The light is set to 20% power and about 3' above the soil level.
I am hoping that all 6 plants make it through the seedling stage. If so, I will pick only the 4 strongest looking plants at that point to be moved to 5gal bags and start veg.
This is my first grow and I am just trying to put things together based on what I have learned by combing through every grow video I could find on YouTube.
My grow tent that sits in an unfinished basement that is the entire size of my house. It is currently very cold outside and so I am having a hard time keeping the temperature at an ideal level. I have ordered a space heater to help with this through the harder part of the winter. Should have it in a couple of days. Hopefully the seeds survive in the less than ideal conditions until I can get it heated.
It is also very dry in my basement and the humidity level in my house is 24%. And so I have a humidifier running outside of the tent that is misting towards an intake duct. I also have a 5 gal water just inside of the tent that is being aerated with a stone air pump, bothtohave chlorine free water ready and to try to help build humidity. This is helping but is still not getting the humidity to an ideal range of 40-70%. Although close. So I need to look into how to better this problem.
12/25/22:
Happy Christmas. No new activity today. No plants have sprouted yet.
12/26/22:
4 of the 6 have sprouted. That's 2 days after planting in initial pots and having paper towel germinated. I expect the other two to sprout tomorrow. Or so I am hoping.
I've put a humidifier inside of the tent and it is doing a fine job maintaining humidity in the mid 50%.
I am still sitting at temperatures between 64-67 F. I am really looking forward to getting my infrared space heater so that I stop worrying about being able to maintain ideal temperatures.
12/27/22:
All seeds have successfully sprouted into a seedling! I'm very excited with the results of each so far. #1 and #6 appear to be the two strongest at the moment.
I added an AC Infinity gremination/seedling hot pad under the plants today. Hoping this helps with the root build up.
12/28/22:
I've decided to go ahead and remove the humidity domes as I seem to be able to maintain good levels of humidity in the tent. I'll try to keep it around 70% for the first couple days with a plan to bring it closer to mid 50s over the next few days.
I watered with a mist bottle today. I added some cal-mag, liquid seaweed, and 1.5 tsp/gal of Fox Farms Big Bloom to the spray. Ph'ed at around 6.4 and made in distilled water.
Plant #3 started its growth side ways, before correcting and growing up. This caused it to lay over a lot. I have tried to help this with a plant tie.
12/29/22:
I got my space heater and it is awesome! It doesn't hurt the humidity and heats the air up just fine around the tent. I am now maintaining around 72Β°f with 60% humidity.
#3 is lagging behind the others a lot. I am still not sure it is going to bounce back from its issues.
I decided to take the humidity domes off of all but #3 today.
I saw a nat jumping around in the tent today. Creeped me out. Hopefully this is not the first sign of what will be an insect problem.
12/30/22:
Each plant showed some clear progress today. Some have started to grow their second set of leaves.
No new sitings of Nats or any other insect.
#3 is still struggling. #6 is looking like the strongest plant to this point.
I've noticed some stretching, and so I have increased the light to %30.
12/31/22:
I am having problems today. Maintaining an ideal humidity has been annoying. Currently, I cannot keep the humidity above about 35% without my humidifier inside the tent, but also cannot keep from getting greater than 70% even on its lowest setting withi it in the tent. I have a new humidifier on order that should help regulate itself. I think I should have it in 4 days or so. Until then I'll keep trying to balance it the best can.
#1 has had the best leaf growth of the bunch, but also already has some slight discoloration and browning at the tips of the leaves.
#3 is still struggling a lot. It cannot stand up without support, and what's worse is I think I see what appears to be a mold spot on it already. I may end up shutting down #3 before it even has a chance to shine.
Still seems to be some stretching happening and so I have brought the light to around 20 inches from the plants and turned it to 40%.
I watered each with a mist bottle with just plain water that has been aerated and PHed to around 5.8.

DaMunchies 01/07/23:
There has been a decent amount of growth this week. They are finally looking like plants and each look like they will successfully make it out of the seedling stage. At this point I thing that 1, 4, 5, and 6 are going to be the 4 plants that I keep, but may be a little to early to be sure.
As you can seen in the pictures, I made a few mistakes so far. The yellow spots on the first set of leaves of most of them is the result of me having sprayed the leaves with a seaweed extract and water mixture. They really didn't take well to that. Though it was just burning and I noticed no noticeable stunt or stress as a result. The new growth seems to be looking good.
This is such a learning process and I am just getting my information from several sources and putting it together.
I've learned that at this stage of the plants growth, less is more. I should not have been introducing any additional nutrients to the plants yet, as the Fox Farm soil has everything the plan would have needed thus far.
I also know that I should have had the light closer and maybe even a little more intense earlier on, as I got a lot of unnecessary initial stretching that I want to avoid in my next grow.
I'm getting better at using my tools to provide an ideal environment, but am still trying to get everything perfect.
I'm still having a LOT of fun with everything.
01/11/23:
Lots of noticeable growth happening this week. #1 is the first to show a root coming out of the bottom. It will be time to get them out of the nursery pots soon. I've decided to go to 1 gallon pots first and keep all 6 plants for awhile longer to continue to watch their growth before picking the final 4. I think that I will perform the transplant on Sunday the 15th.
If these plants are truly a 100% sativa strain, would you expectthat the leaves would be the shape and color that they are?
Do these appear to be showing sings of some indica?
Is it to soon to tell?
Has anyone had issues with Garden of Green seeds before?
First of garden of green isnβt reputable IMO. Seen lots of questionable shit from them. Buy from a breeder in the future - not a seed broker /reseller.
Anyhow - no itβs likely a hybrid honestly. But the whole idea of sativa and indica are just kinda categories of traits. Itβs not like you can do a DNA test to see how much sativa is in it - cuz itβs not technically a quantifiable thing.
I donβt know what strain youβve got but most stuff on the market are polyhybrids.. if you want what I would call a true sativa - find some landrace seeds with long flowering times and those thin fingered fan leaves.
A lot of these companies breed with other varieties to get more favorable results for home growers. For example - Durban poison Iβve grown from ILGM has been obviously bred with some shorter flowering time and stouter genetics. This is common with Durban apparently from the mainstream seed companies.
I touched on it before but I see youβre a new grower - Iβd recommend finding a breeder that actually is doing the work and breeding and then selling those seeds. Most the companies advertised on here are just middle men, brokers, selling βwhite labelβ seeds. Bred by another entity, shipped to them and then slapped with that companies label. I could go on for some time on breeding and what not but you get the point.
Personally, Iβm partial to ETHOS for most my seeds.
DaMunchies 01-22-23: Mainlined
Wow, today was a bit scary and fun. After reading a bunch on it and watching lots of YouTube videos, I started the mainline on all 6 plants.
I clipped just above the 3rd node. I roughed up the clipping stem, dipped it in Clonex Rooting Gel, and the pushed them into Root Riot Cubes.
I now have the cubes in an AC Infinity Humidity Dome under a "bseah Grow Light" using the blue light spectrem at 50% on all 4 light heads.
I'm very excited to see how the plants respond to the mainlining and also to see if all 6 tops survive into clones.
Based on what I have seen in my research, I expect that each of the plants current two main shoots to be ready to top in about 3-4 days. I'd guess it will depend on how they respond of course.
Plant #2 is still the runt of the bunch. #5 and #1 still seem to be the strongest. At this time I think that #1, 4, 5, and 6 may be the keepers of the bunch. But I am still a couple weeks out from finally deciding and getting them into their final pots.

DaMunchies 01-29-23:
Each plant seems to be bouncing back from anything I give it. They have all had their second topping and are currently growing 4 mains. I expect the final topping to come within the next week.
Bad news - none of the tops from the initial mainlining survived as clones. By the 5th day they had rotted away and built mold. It's my own fault I'm sure. I'd guess it was too wet in the environment. This left me a bit frustrated and I'm still not over the fact that I managed to let them all die.
Really looking forward to watching these grow over the next couple of weeks.

DaMunchies 02/05:
I've done a bad job keeping up with my entries and will be adding them now. I made a mistake and managed to break off several branches from three of the 6 plants. (Gardening High is not easy.).
This mistake discouraged me and I was embarrassed to post about my mistakes. However I did continue to take pictures along the way and I have accepted and recovered from my mistakes and will be entering the weekly entries now.
My idea with the 3 that I messed up is to even them out the best I can and then to continue as if I was a step back in the mainlining. Essentially, the three that should not be working on 4 main tops, have taken a step back and are now on 2 mains.
The other 3 are mostly okay, and are working on their 4 mains.

The plants that I damaged have started to recover and are now on their 4 main stage. The other 3 are now working on their 8 mains.
I am going to move the 3 with 8 and one of the 4 main plans to 5gal pots. Ill be leaving the other two plans in their 1gal post and in the tent for now.

They are all growing pretty aggressively.

I now have 4 plants with 8 mains. They are each growing really well, and I am looking forward to the next couple of weeks to see how well they shape up.
I continue to be impressed at just how resistant cannabis is to manipulation. It's amazing that these ladies continue to survive me.
I am still having a lot of fun with them. Even with the frustrations of messing things up. I am learning sooo much and I continue to get excited to see these plants progress.
02/23:
They are all growing pretty fast now. I trimmed them back again today. The strongest one could start flower today if I wanted, but the other 3 are not ready yet. But I think that Iβm really close to having all 4 of them where I think they should be before changing the lighting.

DaMunchies 02/26:
Lots going on. All the plants look healthy (or so I think) and are growing fast. I may have been giving to little nutes over the last several weeks. There were no signs that I was, but I increased it last Wednesday and the response has been something. The grow was nearly double this week of what it has been.
Iβve decided to add a second tent and today I setup it up and moved the two other plants to 5 gal post and into my new 2x4. Iβm not going to track their progress he, but thought it was worth explaining why plants #4 and #6 have finally been removed from this grow.
I may be wrong but I think I am really close to flower. I think I may cut back at them and tie them back down one more time first.
Iβve started adding like 20 minutes of darkness each night with the idea that Iβll get them closer and closer to their 12 on and 12 of schedule. Not sure if this is a good approach or if this will just cause them confusion.
03/03:
Yesterday I did what I expect will be the Final Cut back and tie down. My high ass had no business messing with the plants when I did it and I snapped a branch on two of the plants. I shouldnβt have done it while they had so much water in them. I taped them up with painters tape cause that all I have. Today one of the branches looks like nothing had even happened to it. The other looks like it is moments from death - and that was on my strongest plant. Well damnβ¦

DaMunchies 03/05:
The week started out looking bad, as I had broken some branches and one ofthem looked like it would not recover. However, today everything looks fine. These ladies are growing strong.
I noticed when watering the other day that I haven't been properly shaking my nutrients and that the Fox Farms Bloom has just been settling in the bottom as I suck out the liquid from the top with a syringe. And so I have likely not been getting my plants the nutrients that I thought I was. And this may be ruined or to hot now that I have been pulling empty liquid from. I will have a new bottle bythetime I water again and will not continue that mistake.
I think that I will be switching to flower around this time next week.
03/09:
I have switched the lighting to 12/12 and these ladies are now in flower. Very excited for the next few weeks to watch these transition. I have no idea how the flowers start to build up on the plant, and so I am particularly excited to see the initial stages of that transition.
I have also decided to start a Sour Diesel Auto that I got as a freebie in my latest seed order. With the new 2x4 tent that I got, I expect I will be able to run autos through one side of it while using the other side to veg and prepare plants that will ultimately be moved to the 4x4 to finish. Will see how well that process works out for me. Iβll be starting another diary soon for the auto.

A few days into flower now. They seem to be bushing out and the fan leaves are getting huge.
It feels strange to have gone nearly a week now without doing some kind of training with the plants. I am going to have to get used to not messing with the plants so often. π
I expect it to be fun to watch the plants growth over the next week. Iβm pretty excited about flowering.

Lots of growth and stretch this week. I did a large defoliation last Monday, they bushed back up within a couple of days.
This morning I decided to do another defoliation on only two of the plants. My goal when deciding to mainline was 8 large colas during flower. And at this point I am not sure what training I should be doing to achieve that. All four plants had several branches coming of all 8 mains. With some of those branches even growing up to the same height as their main. This seems to contradict my goal for 8 large colas. However I also feel made removing these branches at this point. And so I decided to just let them grow and to see what happened with them on the two strongest plants. And on the other two, I decided that I would just cut it back to where I think it needs to be to let the flowing continue to cake up on the 8 main branches without wasting energy on some lower branches. Not sure if it was the right plan, but itβs the one Iβve taken.

I have the biggest crush on these ladies right now. They look so beautiful. I ended up doing another defoliation this week on all 4 plants. They all look super happy right now and are producing several flowering sites. I am still having so much fun watching them grow.

Their stretch has stopped. They are starting to get very frosty! They look beautiful! Though it is clear now that Iβm likely just going to end up with a bunch of small light buds, Iβm guessing. Maybe they will thicken up over the next few weeks.

Still just letting them grow at this point. Itβs hard to notice any dramatic change over the last week. One plant has matured much faster than the other three, and her hairs are already mostly amber. I think I am a little over two weeks from cutting them down. I believe that I have fed for the last time today.

I am very, very pleased with how these have turned out. Iβm soaking up so much pride just by staring at these ladies trunks. The struggles of training them this was was totally worth the beauty and pride that comes with it.
I am a week out from cutting them down now. Two of the plants are probably ready today, but I will need this tent for drying, and so I am going to give them all another week, to let all 4 mature.
Anyone know whatβs going on here? I have several leaves in my grow that look like this. Going to harvest soon, and so not sure that I will do anything about it, but would like to know what I have done wrong, if there is a problem.
It is nothing that can harm your harvest. But like our fellow grower said, the leaves are a bit dark so for a next grow give less N during the flowering phase. Enjoy buddy! π
DaMunchies 05/07:
I had planned to harvest today. But I feel like two of the plants still need a bit more time. And the most mature one is still looking fine. And so I am going to give it another week.
Iβm really surprised at how little the leaves have changed considering they have been on only water for over two weeks now. The leave issue that I created the question about has continued to show up on the leaves on the two plants where it is happening. Maybe that is just how it is reacting to the lake of nutrients.
Two of the plants have really started to show some purple, with the other two showing none on the flowers, but some purple in the stems.
05/10:
Today I did a final defoliation to remove any leave that I donβt want them drying with. I plan to shut the lights off tomorrow morning - leaving them in the dark until Sunday, when I plan to chop them down. This is probably the best they will ever look, and in my mind they look fantastic.

It turned out, but smoking a bowl hit me hard for a couple of hours with a wild head high. I didnβt get the munchies or anything, but it also didnβt seem to suppress appetite, as this strain is commonly credited for.

I made it to harvest! What a fun ride it has been. Iβve learned so much, and made several mistakes. But these ladies survived me.
I havenβt watered in a week. The plants had been on only water for nearly a month. And they have been in the dark for nearly 3 days. And still they look healthy and weβre praying up right until I chopped them down.
I think that I was both over watering and over feeding the entire grow. The root balls were bunched up into what would have fit in a two gallon pot, and were never forced to span out into the 5gal pot that they are in. Also, even having not been watered in a week, they were still very moist in the rootball.
I am really looking forward to these finishing their dry and seeing just how much weight of dry bud I get. Hoping for around 1.5 to 2 ounces per plant. Fingers crossed.
@Chaingangster, it turned out pretty wonderful. The cured bud has a very βclassic weedβ smell to it with a bit of something extra that I havenβt smelled in anything else before. The smoke is smooth and buttery, and the high is heady and trippy. I grew this because of all the hype around THCV. If this actually has any in it, it does not suppress my appetite.
