Seedling 1 has been up for 10 days. Seedling 2 has been up for 6 days. Seedling 2 is very small compared to her sister, but is still developing fine. Interested to see the other differences in the 2. Once the plants are larger I will bend the main stalk of each plant over, and scrog the resulting side branches that become tops Both are in 1 30 gallon notil pot, I think thats plenty of space for 2 autos. The soil is a blend of 5th cycle soil from a previous 15 gallon pot, and a new coots mix recipe to fill in the rest. Cover crop is sown, and red wiggler worms are in the soil as well. Since this is the first run in the new soil, and it's with autos, I won't top dress until I see pistils. Light is a HLG Patriot 150 dimmed to 110 watts at a distance of 28 inches. Once the plants have their first 5 point leaves I will lower the lights to 24 inches. Eventually working my way down to 18 inches. I may increase the wattage depending on how the plants respond. I should add that this is my first grow with this light, coming from an HLG 100. I tried running 2 HLG 100s in flower while running photos, but it proved to be too much. Excited to see how this goes. Environment is what it is unfortunately, but my house is heated and cooled by a frigid air central heating/air unit. Parameters are not perfect but aren't terrible either. This is my limiting factor, and the main reason I don't run more light intensity. I have grown this strain before, and 1 other strain from this breeder. This was the terpiest bud I've ever grown.

Seedling 1 has shown a lot of growth in a week. Seedling 2 is still kicking. though it is developing slower, it looks like normal growth is coming in. Lowered the lights to 24 inches on the 28th, everything responded well. May have been overcautious starting at 28 inches, but better to be safe than sorry with new equipment. If all remains well, I will go to 20 inches sometime this week. I said I wasn't going to top dress, but got the itch to do it and had time. After chop and dropping the cover crop I added a mixture of dry ammendments to total a little over 1/4 cup featuring Buildasoils craft blend, neem cake, and glacial rock dust. To this I also added 2 Tbsp of buildasoils Gnarley Barley, and 1/3 cup of Kashi blend. I then covered everything with close to an inch of Pinto Bean compost, then sowed another small round of clover seed and lightly covered with mulch. This top dress was mainly for the worms to munch on, hence the rock dust to add grit to everything.

Newberry 1 continues to show a lot of new growth. Pinched off a few leaves to give the side branches some light, then bent her over to start the LST. The internodal spacing is super tight which is one reason I backed off the light. Newberry 2 has kept with the funky growth on the main stem but the side branches are looking normal, I may top this one to give all the energy to those branches. The top may die off on its own though, some of the leaves on it are withered, and that would be fine too. My main concern with this one is that she will go into flower at the same time as Newbwerry 1, since she is less than half her sisters size. The light is still at 24 inches above Newberry 1, tried for 22 and they didn't look as happy, so I moved it back up. This is 2 days after watering with aloe, microbes, and a wetting agent. This is also their second dose of the aloe, each watering is also a foliar spray since they are still small, and they seem to respond to it very well.

NB1 has started showing preflowers and continues to grow quite well. Due to the plants size I don't think I'll be setting up the scrog this round, and thats fine, less work lol. NB 2 appears to have fully snapped out of her weirdness and is growing regular looking leaves now. I went ahead and bent her over too. She did, in fact, top herself. One of the side branches has developed two tops while the adjacent one has a single top. I'll try to get a photo of it next week. She is not showing any signs of flowering which is great and hopefully she'll get to a bigger size before she decides to make the switch. Light distance remains the same as well as intensity, the plants seem to like it so I don't see a reason to push any harder. 24 inches is the sweet spot for me right now. I watered on Tuesday of this week, and the soil is still fairly moist. Not uncommon for my grows, easy to overwater if you dont watch what youre doing. Right before I made this post I turned of the exhaust fan in the top of the tent to maybe heat things up a little bit. Besides for cleaning, this is the first time the fan has been turned off in 4 years, i think i got my moneys worth out of it lol. My soil always feels almost cold so I think maybe if I can heat it up a couple degrees I can start getting some faster growth. I don't have an inline fan with any type of smart technology, its just a small monkey fan that exhausts air constantly. I'm also going to experiment with letting my water get to room temperature before I use it, my source is a well outside my home, and it always comes out pretty cold. Excited to see how these turn out for sure. My supply of newberry is all but gone so this will be a great chance to restock. Last time I grew her, I pulled a QP dry from 1 plant under a 100 watt light. Also this company has just suffered a catastrophic loss of every seed in their inventory along with all their plants, all of their hard work has been reduced to nothing. I think they're buying their genetics back from people, and I know they're taking donations. I don't know the link but if you go to their website you'll find it there. I only have a couple seeds from them left but to anyone seeing this and wanting to help them out I'm sure they'd greatly appreciate it.

NB1 has started to grow flowers, so I'm guessing this is really the end of week 2 of flower for her. She's pushing pretty hard and couldn't look happier while doing it. NB2 shows no signs of preflower yet and that's great, gives her plenty of time to catch up. While still small, she's growing rather quickly now, almost double the size of last week, so I'm excited to see what she does. The light has been left the same, and is sitting at 22 inches above NB1 and 25 inches above NB2. The pot has stayed moist through this week so I haven't needed to water at all. The grow feels so much like it's on auto pilot that I really haven't had to do anything. The plants are praying and happy so it's not too wet, which is great, im just not used to it lol. In my 15 gallon I was watering 0.75 gallons every other day, but with the size of this 30 gallon compared to the size of the plants, it just doesn't need anything. I finally realized how to properly list nutrients on here, but the meaurements on the template dont seem formulated for top dressing lol. So on 1/17 I top dressed the soil with 1/4 cup of gnarley barley and around 1/3 cup of Kashi blend. Mostly for the worms. Then on 1/19 I foliar sprayed coconut and aloe just to give them something and they loved it. I won't foliar again since NB1 has started developing flowers. On 1/22 I watered in 1 quart of Rootwise microbe complete, bio phos, and the Enzyme elixir. So as I mentioned last week, I turned off the monkey fan that was constantly exhausting air, within 2 hours the temp was much warmer, and the humidity was much higher. I just can't believe that tiny little fan was pushing that much air out lol. I ended up turning it around to pull air into the tent, this has seemed to keep the humidity slightly higher but keep the temps down to an acceptable level. I may turn the fan around again once I get later into flower to avoid the risk of mold.

NB1 is starting to slow down on the stretch as of today 1/29/23, though she spent most of the week pushing pretty hard. Once she has finished I will pinch off some of the lowers that aren't getting any light. NB2 has grown taller than her sister by about half an inch, still lanky, but I wasn't expecting that. She too has began flowering and stretching, I know the yield won't be great from her, but im still interested to see what she does. Maybe she'll have some awesome smoke. I was finally able to fully water them on 1/27, so I went ahead and did another inoculation of Rootwise bio phos, along with coconut and a quarter dose of buildabloom. I may continue to use the buildabloom throughout flower, but I may not since the soil is still new. It really depends on the final size of NB2 as I don't want to deplete the soil completely. Nothing else to report, this grow is going pretty smooth. I'll start 2 new autofems on 2/6 which I'll start a separate diary for. Thanks for checking out my diary!

Cruising along. NB1 has stopped stretching and started focusing solely on bud development, heavy trichome production is starting on the middle flowers. A stem rub produces a strong berry/fuel odor, which seems to be the main terpene with this strain as previous grows have smelled the same. NB2 is starting to slow down as of yesterday on stretching, its kind of crazy how she just took off and is now a full 2 inches taller than her sister. Leaves have remained a little droopy for the last couple of weeks, and I believe that's her not being able to handle as much light. Towards the end of the days cycle her leaves droop lower. I cant raise the light any further without sacrificing ppfd for NB1, so I super cropped the tallest branches after taking this pic. Her flower structure seems like it's going to be sativa like, taller and more airy, maybe that means the effect will be more energizing as well. It would be a nice addition to my mostly indica stash. I did have to adjust the lights after seeing the yellow tips on both plants start to increase this past week. When I checked the distance from NB2 it was at 15 inches, and 16 1/2 from NB1 so I adjusted the light to 17 inches above NB2. No water so far, maybe a little tomorrow, the soil is staying consistently moist but not wet, I love these living soil pots for that. I do think I'm going to give them less water this time so I can water more frequently. Oh and switching to room temp water seemed to improve growth so I will continue to do that from now on. Thats about it for this week. I thank whoever takes the time to browse this journal. See you guys next week!

NB1 is starting to get greasy, letting off a sharp sour candy scent with skunk on the back end. Different than the other ones I have grown, I like it. I'm kinda hoping the smell stays like this for the rest of the grow. Her buds are already starting to thicken up and harden. NB2 has no smell yet and has finally finished stretching, she wanted to go up. I kept super cropping her and may do so one more time as she is still quite malleable. Her frost is starting to come in around the middle of the branches just like her sister. Nothing to shake a stick at yet, and really that goes for both of them on frostiness. That's ok, they have plenty of time to put it on. Light remains at 17 inches from NB2. The damage hasn't spread at all from last week so I'm thinking we're in the clear. I was able to water yesterday 2/11, and will probably give a deep watering later in the week. Keeping the fan turned to exhaust the air seems to speed up the dry back, and thats ok for me. A top dress for the worms is in order sometime this week as well, ive been slacking on that lol.

NB1 is starting to show a little purple in a few of her buds. This is cool for me as I've grown many strains with purple in their name but none have actually turned purple before. Her smell is evolving to a little more earthy with the sour candy remaining on the back end. Her buds are getting chunky as well. I suspect im at the 2 more weeks mark with this one, but i always let mine go a little longer because i enjoy a sedative like effect. NB2 is pushing hard on her buds. They seem like they're going to being longer colas than her sister's, I suspect they'll be more airy as well. The smell coming off of her is much more burnt rubber like and skunky. Her development also feels slower than her sister, which makes me think the effect is going to be more sativa like. I'm still happy with her no matter how she turns out, she's come a long way as the runt and has done better than expected. I'll start checking trichs at the end of next week to see how things are looking with NB1. I wish i could get some shots of them, but im not talented enough with my little pocket scope to take pictures. I learned I prefer to harvest when the trichomes are around 30% to 40% amber, for a much more sedative like effect. Not only that but the high also feels more complete than harvesting earlier, maybe it's the extra cbn that adds to that, idk. I watered with 3 gallons plain water on 2/14, and the soil still feels moist but not wet. The plants are drinking more which is great. The lights are 13 inches above NB2 which is just a tad too close, I may end up raising that side of the light this week as NB2 always looks extra tired before lights out.

NB1 looks like she's maturing faster from the top down. Those tops are continuing to swell and harden, however the bottom branches are still covered in white pistils. I may have to do a staggered harvest on her. I've read about it before, but I've never actually had to do it. If that's what I decide to do, I will post the pics of the buds I harvest. NB2 is trucking along, shes just a touch too close to the light, and I will raise it upon harvesting her sister. I can't help but think if she'd have grown correctly from the start, she'd be massive. Her smell has gotten stronger since last week and is turning from burnt rubber to an electrical fire in a candy store. Hoping she denses up a lot more, right now her buds are numerous, but very fluffy. I was able to water again at the start of the week, giving them 2 gallons with bio phos and coconut water. Mycrobe complete was also added for the seedlings that are with them. Home stretch for these two, I cant wait to try them.
