This years grow is well underway.
White widow and peach sherbet are 9 weeks old, and pineapple chunk and express are 7 weeks old, thanks to a bit of a false start.
I had some early issues until I worked out that the professors organic nutrients I was using had gone off, and were hurting the plants bad!!
I didn’t realise till I suspected feed issues, and smelled the bottles up close. I lost some of the important fan leaves which slowed them a lot.
Once flushed and replaced with ozi magic they have recovered beautifully.
Biocanna and ozi magic are the go.
Have tipped the big ones 3 times now, my most ever, so looking forward to some nice bushy plants when the stretch kicks in.
Really healthy plants at the moment.
Recovering from tipping and just getting going now.
I’ve given them 2 feeds of worm tea so far and might give a final soak this weekend.
Using a spade full of my worm compost in a bag and dunking in 20l of rain water.
Add Dr green thumbs high tea, molasses, coconut water and mico
Aerate for 24hrs, smells really nice in the end.
Full soak then nothing for 2 days, then full feed of ozi magic and bio Vega.
They are pumping 🍻
Week 11
Plants are going nicely, but with a few issues,, only on widow
There are lots of white spots on all of the leaves, and evidence of spider mite on the under sides
Full neem spray given today, when I noticed a few grasshoppers 🦗
It seems to be the widow vulnerable to attack, and the other plants are not at all affected
Buds already, in mid January!! Only on the Peach Sherbet
The pineapples are 2 weeks younger but some key differences are noticeable.
These were full price bought seeds in breeder packaging. Widow and Peachy were freebies.
The bought seeds seem superior at every stage. More consistent, very symmetrical, tough with no issues.
Happy new year everyone and best of luck with all the grows this year 🍻
Week 12
All good to date. Intense heat and humidity all week has been giving greenhouse like conditions.
The plants are loving it, as is the rest of the garden
Week 14
Missed last week, but they have all grown really well.
Peach sherbet has had buds for about 3 weeks now. Nice smell and nice shape, really even and open.
Widow is a bit messy, even after I took a heap of low leaves off. Very small leaves, not sure about this one.
Express is getting some small buds now and looks super solid, and uniform. Exactly like the last seeds, a good sign.
Chunk has grown the most, about 15cm taller than the rest. Nice long spaces and not many leaves. Got a good feeling about chunk.
Getting great weather, but now the toughest challenge,, the in laws are visiting from overseas!!!
Sadly they will be spending some beautiful days sitting in the shed missing out. Shit
Week 16
The in-laws are here from overseas. It has been a shit fight, moving these thinks in and out of the shed whenever I got a chance here and there for a few hours of sun. Major hassle, and still 10 days to go!!
Peachy is heading away and has a nice citrus smell. Weirdly not all the time.. it’s there sometimes, and other times I can’t find it.
Express is pumping out five big long heads with the classic express smell.
Widow is smelling good, but the buds seem a week or so behind the rest
Chunks is looking so awesome. Very strangely, it smells just like the express! Haven’t had that with any of my 4 chunks yet.
A few caterpillars here and there. Peachy snapped a branch when an empty tent from my kids birthday party blew onto it!
Man I was fuming!! Ah well, what can you do!
2 weeks on and the plants are cruising.
I didn’t realise how much they were putting on, until I looked back at the diary last fortnight.
Peachy has been cut, and widow will be next in about a week. Express won’t be much more, but chunk looks like it could be a while yet.
A few bugs and caterpillars lately, but some nice weather.
Tracking nicely 🍻
Peachy can only be described as average. It finished fast, which was handy, but not much else to praise unfortunately. 2 and a half Oz dry.
Average grow
Average size
Average yield
Average taste
Average strength
Having said ALL this,, it was a free seed. I think it might be time to reconsider the breeder/buyer obsession with freebies. Companies use swags jog free seeds to lure a buyer, but these almost always underperform. I’ve had a couple of good freebies, but most are not that great, leaving me with a bad taste in my mouth about that breeder or strain. In the end they seem to take up valuable space that should have been filled with a quality plant
Free seed
This was another good freebie. Widow is right in my sweet spot for strength. Good grow other than a couple of bugs. Had a big humidity drop while drying and it is a touch over but still tastes good. Decent yield of 3 1/4 oz. Nothing spectacular, but good on all counts
Widow is nothing spectacular, and it may fall flat for the hardened smoker who likes a heavy hitter. But it’s right in my sweet spot for taste and strength. A bit of a pain to grow with a few pests, and lots of leaf and larf. Hard to recommend for others, but suits me nicely
My 3rd of this one and they have all been pretty much identical. Really reliable solid strain for outdoors. Only just over 3 oz dry which surprised me a bit. I thought it could have done a bit better but still more than happy with this distinct tasting smoke
Awesome result from chunk. 4 and a half Oz of premo bud, which is pretty much faultless. Perfect smoke, sweet smell and taste. The buds dried a kind of golden green colour and just smooth as. Great stuff. Easy grow without hassle, great looking plant with those big dongers on top 😄
