Morning 1/24/23 - The CherryLand and Larry's Lemon OG always droop a bit in the mornings. I am trying to heat things up at night but it's difficult in the basement. I keep making little adjustments to dial it in. I currently have 6" carbon filtered intake on a ladder about 5' up with a radiant heater under it. It has raised the night temps in the tent. The Mimosa x Orange Punch is starting to gain some momentum. I transplanted when roots were just hitting the bottom of a solo cup. I waited too long to transplant the other two. Their roots were wrapped in the bottom of those mistakenly used square pots. A part of the LLOG root ball completely broke off. I am surprised it doesn't seem too hurt by it. Evening 1/24/23 - TOPPED CherryLand! The branches are really starting to form on the Cherry. I also removed the single blade leaves. They were about >50% yellow and the branches from them are the largest. The LLOG is growing. The MxOP is growing fast. I'd say it is growing the best of all three. It is 12 days behind but the race is on! Getting temps a bit more dialed in. Evening 1/25/23 - The CherryLand is perky in the evenings and spoopy in the mornings. Added picture showing it giving praise to the light god. I really like its shape. The branches from the single blade node are touching under the first 5 blade leaves. They'll be poking thru soon. Morning 1/26/23 - Watered all 3 and fed for the first time by adding 1/2 teaspoon of Recharge beneficial bacteria. Evening 1/29/23 - Watered and added 1oz/gal Organic Fermented Sprouted Quinoa, used 2 gallons of water. It smells worse than a b-hole and very unpleasant. Topped the LLOG. It is getting tall. The lifted fabric pots on the drain table with the modified rack to allow for drainage from all 3 pots to flow into a singular bucket for both ease of emptying and cleanliness has been working perfectly. I added a few clover cover crop seeds hither and thither. Morning 1/30/23 - Photos taken. It seems like they like eating poo. Morning 1/31/23 - Topped the Mimosa x Orange Punch. The LLOG is getting really tall comparatively. Will have to put extra effort into LST with it. The CherryLand is getting bushy. It has dense green leaves with red hues on stems. It's branching is surprisingly even and dense. I am very excited with the growth and potential for these three cultivars while working with this new medium. So far, living organic soil seems to be crushing it. Beneficial nematodes and Enzymes will soon be added. I will also add some micronutrients before the flip. Morning 2/1/23 - The branching on the CherryLand is so robust, even and symmetrical it is amazing. I helped all of the branches poke out through the fingers on the leaves. They seemed to immediately turn darker green and the small leaves on them fanned out. The LLOG seems to be getting bigger as a whole but branching is not as vigorous. Mimosa x Orange Punch is looking pretty. Evening 2/1/23 - Lifted each and they felt very light weight. Watered with Build a Soil Big 6 and Recharge. Used 2 gallons.

After I transplanted these into 5 gallon fabric pots and have used Build A Soil Living Organic Soil Oly Mountain Compost all three plants lower leaf sets have curled downward. My night temps are getting down to 62 degrees. Why are my lower leaves curling down?

Hi, it seems that your seedling is living in a slightly too dry environment, look for VPD online and find out about the subject to understand the best combinations of temperature and humidity for each growth phase (At your temperature, after 5 weeks I recommend a 50 % humidity). However it seems that your seedlings are not absorbing enough oxygen from the roots for some reason (Too much water, root rot, soil saturated with fertilizers), check the EC and pH of the water flowing out of your pot. Good luck!

You don't say WHEN you transplanted them but I feel this is simply the plants needing time to recover from the transplant... It's also possible the soil is a little too hot for them unless they were in that same soil before... and finally, that temp is not good - needs to be at least 68F if you can manage it... purple strains like colder temps and will react favorably by increasing their colors but at this stage, you run the risk of stunting the little ladies... Good luck!

Living Organic Soil users unite! Forgive my ignorance this is my first time growing LOS. I am currently using Build A Soil Living Organic Soil - Oly Mountain Compost. When is the proper time to water? In my previous soil grows I would take things rather dry before watering.

Living soil is no different in regards to water as any other soil.... you water when they're dry and you make sure your plant has a definite wet/dry cycle. Good luck...

How long does the stretch last with Indica dominant hybrids? I understand this is dependent on genetics. I am just looking for a ball park figure. It's been so long since my last real grow I have lost the feel. If I remember correctly it is usually about 2 weeks.

The flowering stretch in most cannabis plants lasts about 2 weeks. Sativas will rise more than indicas in that time, but it lasts about the same amount of time for both subspecies. The only plant I've ever seen go longer than 2 weeks is Dr Grinspoon - that's a proper heirloom sativa and it didn't stop stretching for nearly 4 weeks! As you say, it's completely dependent on genetics, but I would estimate 50-100% stretch with indicas, and 75-150% stretch in sativas. Hope that helps!

Why is my Mimosa x Orange Punch yellowing? It looks like older growth is being affected gradually more. The overall growth seems to have slowed or stopped. I've been feeding plenty and just the same as the others who are loving it.

Different strains require different feeding! Your mimosa is starving and needs more nutrients than the other two plants. Your cover crop/companion plants could also be stripping nutrients from the soil mix. Mulch is great, but when growing in pots, cover crops are a no-no in my experience.

Right so it could just be the pheno being picky about her nutrient strength. On the other hand it is a lighter colored strain to begin with but you can start with increasing her feed a bit to see if she starts looking more to your liking. Other than that you don't have your ph listed so that's a bit concerning but just make sure it's between 5.5-6.5 ( you can go a little higher in soil 6.6-6.7 ish). Hope this helps.

When do you start counting days of Flower? At the flip to 12/12 or at the first definite signs of calyxes and pistils?

People will argue, because people. I'll guarantee better results if you start counting when you start seeing pistils. Usually around 2 weeks after switch. Anyone else is lying. You can check through any grow on here and prove this.

For photoperiods, the breeders refer to flowering time as time from the day you flip til the day you chop. Most of these popular polyhybrid cultivars now days from seed are around 8-9 week flowerers. That means 56-63 (approximately) days from the day you change your lighting schedule to 12/12. Usually for me this breaks down to 14ish days of transition, 14ish days of stigmas filling in at bud sites, 14-21 days of bracts/“calyxes” stacking and bulking up, then finally 7-14 days of ripening and finishing. It really doesn’t matter how you count it tho, as long as you’re consistent and keep track of things. Having said that, a large majority of growers count from the day of flipping lights.

I start counting at the flip and start giving flowering nutes immediately. In the end, harvest is based off the trichome development so really day count is just a guideline on when you should start putting your eyes on your trichomes.

Nice grow, your ladies look awesome. We love B.A.S. products also. To us seems easier than synthetic nutes. And we think tastes better too. Love the color of the cherry land. Where did you get those seeds?
CalyxHunter
CalyxHuntercommented2 years ago
@doobieandthedutchess, Thanks! I can't wait to taste these. The CherryLand genetics are the best I've ever grown. I got them directly from the breeder, Justin Esquivel, with greenlusterphenos.com, who is a genius. I will be trying their Wintry Fruit at some point too. They also offer Type II and Type III cannabis that are CBD and cannabinoid heavy. I bet his genetics will soon become popular with main stream dispensaries.

Your diary is breathtaking, thanks for the advice of living soil. I’d like to one day. I’ve done soil, Dwc and hempy, but haven’t gone all out on a soil grow. I believe in your methods, keep it up 👍
