Things are starting to get more interesting with every grow. This third diary has two kind sponsors: Green Buzz Nutrients and the Kannabia seed company. I am grateful and a tad flattered. 😊
Here in the first entry I briefly introduce the products, but the following weeks my entries will be as usual - of course also with details about when and how I used something. I am very curious to see how this will develop!
I will only use a 3L pot, as my husband, who has been very patient, wanted his own grow and will take most of the tent space.
I started with a seed folded into a paper towel and put it in a plastic container with a lid. After the tab root was about 1cm (day 3), I transferred it into Root Riot cubes, which had already impressed me in my last grow.

Green Buzz Nutrients are organic nutrients, micro elements, plant aids and stimulators. They cater directly to the needs of cannabis growers, and I noticed that the company is highly evaluated in German grow shops. I'm looking forward to trying them out now to see if they're as good as their reputation. I'm a novice to nutrients (my poor house plants have to do without), so I'm planning to strictly follow GBN's feeding schedule.

Kannabia let me choose 4 of their strains, and I will try out "Mikromachine Auto" first. Its description on their site says:
"Mikromachine Auto is one of our highest yielding autoflowering seeds. This delectable sativa-dominant variety treats you to a pungent taste with floral aromas and earthy yet very sweet flavours. [...] This hybrid is the result of a union between two of the best and most famous autoflowering strains of all time – Northern Lights Auto and AK-47 x Critical. [...] Even in inexperienced hands, this small production machine provides the opportunity to harvest large amounts in small spaces. Despite having a somewhat lengthy flowering process (which can take up to 75 days), its large number of leafy buds loaded with trichomes are the reward for each extra day’s wait."
Sounds very promising, let's begin!

This will be a very different grow, as my husband wanted to do his own. We only have a small tent and not enough space for two pots of decent size. Not wanting to wait 70 days for my turn, I started an experimental tiny grow (the air pot is only 3l or 0.9 gal). I wonder how far I will come. Also, manifolding for the first time, using the recommend way for autoflowers from the web page https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/how-to-manifold-cannabis-plants/
If my plant ends up being stunted from this treatment, that will be quite welcome as I have very little space.
This time I am using my usual wick system with a clay drainage level, but instead of the all mix I am going for the light mix as a base, since I am going to add all the nutrients by myself. Added some pumice for drainage, as I will have to water often in this small a pot.

2nd try
🤖
My first plant nearly died because of mistakes I made. That's why I am starting anew. I soaked the second seed for 12 hours in water with some humic acid, then planted it into a root riot cube that I already put into my 3l air pot, filled with biobizz light mix and some pumice. After 4 days, the seedling started to show.
I begun growing by adding only a little GBN "Living Organics" to get things started. Now that the first two leaves are visible, I will (hesitantly) start using the recommended GBN boosters. I heard great things about their "Fast Plants" spray. No N-P-K yet.
To cite a famous diary writer: All is well in the tent.

2nd try

The seedling is coming along nicely. Nothing changed from my first try, except that this time I'm not gonna put droplets on the leaves when the light is on!

1st try
🤖
Something was not well, and that was obviously me, as I left droplets on the leaves and the light burned into them. :-/

2nd try
🤖
It's obvious now how important these few destroyed leaves of the first seed were. The plants are of identical age, but very different in size.
Watered with nematodes.
Cut back the growth tips on the lower 2 nodes.

1st try

The first try went into a 500ml-cup as I don't have the heart to throw her away. Cut back lower growth tips and try to make her concentrate on one single flower.
Finally a real new update, as the replant caught up with the first try. I added all info about the second try in the former weeks, in case you're interested.

2nd try
🤖
Last week was uneventful with normal growth
This week it will be time to begin with the mainlining, following the recommendations for autoflowers from Cocoforcannabis.com:
Step one: Discarding the growth tips on the lower 2 nodes, keeping the leaves intact. ☑️ (Day 20)
Step two: Letting her grow to the 6th node and topping her above the third. I plan to keep the top in my herb garden for the time being. ☑️ (Day 22)
Step three: Employing some LST.
Step four: Letting the remaining two branches grow to their 4th node. Removing the growth tips of the second nodes on the branches.
Step five: Topping them again.
Let's see how far we come before flowering begins.

The older plant recovered well, but did not grow much in her confined space.

Sad (?) news everyone, my husband's plant is just so so f*cking healthy and grows so virgorous that my poor small plants do not get any light anymore. 😭
I am happy for him, but it's such a shame. We need bigger lights, but no cash for that atm.
So let's see what will happen, I'm pessimistic.
Sadly, due to lack of light in my small grow box, I had to give the plants to a friend. This diary will be discontinued. I will only add the pics I already made of the 500ml cup.

@SlowpokeFuegobud, thank you! It's
Mikromachine Auto
Purple Dream Auto
Zkit Kandy Dream Auto
Speedy Boom Auto.
My husband choose the purple strain, and I might add a diary about it, too.
@kohlrabi, I'm always happy to help :) I've just started my own small grow, although not quite as small as yours. The new diary should be up later today.
If you allow us, we would like to offer you a support tip from the Kannabia team to help your girls get more light. Try to place the pots with the taller plants at the ends of the tent and the smaller ones in the center. We hope this helps, but if you need anything else, we are here to support you. Good luck! 🍀🙏
Kannabia Team 🧡
Kannabia, thank you very much, I really appreciate the support, but it's a 50 x 50 tent... 😅 It is simply too small. I was hoping to get a bigger grow room until the mid of this grow, but things happened and I'm not able to afford that atm
@kohlrabi,yes If its an Automatic...Pop a new one.....thats the fun with Fotoperiod....If you mess Up. Just let iT grow out....i think its no big damage...shes fine
@Mrs_Larimar, thank you! Maybe I repot this one and try a new seed... Because I feel I am not doing this strain justice if I am leaving it to grow like that... Not sure yet.
Good luck with this grow! I've not heard of manifolding so am going to have to go do some research! :-D I try to learn something new every day and so this will be good!!
AH! It's just another name for mainlining... OK then! I think it's a pretty stressful technique to use on an autoflower as they don't like stress - but as you say, if it only results in the stunting of the plant, that will seem to be ok for you.... I just hope you get a harvest - I'm rooting for you!!
@kohlrabi, just so you're aware, mainlining/manifolding is never recommended for autoflowers... it's such an extremely stressful technique that autoflowers do not have enough time to recover from it in time to set their flowers... but good luck anyway!
@GrowingGrannie, thank you very much! 😊 I think it's nearly the same as mainlining, with minimal differences. I saw some examples here with solo cups that looked neat and wanted to give it a try.
We are sorry to hear that you have run out of space to complete the crop satisfactorily. We hope that next time you will be able to have the space you deserve.
Thank you for choosing our genetics!
Kannabia Team 🧡
@kohlrabi, Just sell one of your kids. You can always make a new one.
At the very least, have your oldest work. The Asparagus picking season is almost here. Just tell 'em "Get out there and pick. Mama gotta grow some dank!"
@Z4Z0Z, 😊 thank you! The picture I uploaded here of the first try is 4 weeks old so that one can compare. But the original one developed quite well and already got some flowers :)
