4/4 Unfortunately these plants are running much longer than I have available time to care for them and all have a chop date of 4/20 (pure coincidence) which will be 101 days from seed for TB and 91 for GSC. I might be able to go a little longer if I use my drying rack instead of hang drying. GG has been flushing for 7 days now and starting to show deficiencies. Not expecting more than an ounce or so from her due to her size but she is damn frosty. Almost out of cannaboost and not really in the mood to drop another cnote for a new bottle and researching alternatives at the moment. TB pistils are 80% orange brown and beginning to shrivel. Hoping to start her flush in a 7 to 10 days and will add florakleen to my flush. Sampled one of the popcorn buds off the BC and a nice mellowing effect. Didn't sample more than half a bowl and pleased with the tiny amount I had. She definately has retained her stink and didnt get the grassy smell that my last run dod after being chopped (but fragrance is returning after 2 weeks cure)
4/6 BC smoke report - sampled some of the low fluffy bud thats been in the hang drying in a tent for 6 days and ready for testing. Unfortunately the pictures dont do it justice, visually it is covered in frost and has a white hue to it. Being a bottom bud not going into much more detail on visual. Smells of wild berries, mango, cheese/sour, with a mild skunk undertone. Tastes like sour fruity candy and absolutely delightful. Effects immediate headbanding with s euphoric energizing feeling along with a lightness of the body feeling (laying on the bed almost feels as if floating). About 45 min after smoking and its definately a nice balance of body and head and uplifting. One I would use for a social gathering with friends but not one that would require deep conversations (that make sense 😜).
4/7 GG has been chopped. She started showing more ambers and pistils mostly died back and receded. Aside from the 4 main colas, she didnt produce much more. She was so dense with leaves that the center part hardly got any light. The center cola was huge up top but when I cut the layers back she was bare 3/4 of the stem. She stayed short at 25" but the buds that she did produce seem to be dense heavy mothers and for what little I had to trim up, it still produced 4 bb sized scissor hash balls. My scale took a crap and waiting on one from amazon so I do not have the wet weight.
4/9 TB starting to ripen up finally. She's going on flush in a day or 2 with a 4/19 to 4/20 harvest date. GSC is filling in, hopefully she will be close to done by the 20th
Look at those big dark nuggets! Ive heard of a water cure, but never a "quick wash"! Thats neat. Bet its like the water cure but much faster. I wonder how flavor retention will stack up to an air cure. Can't wait for the smoke report
@Agronomist, I was a bit skeptical at first, but I saw too many trusted grower testimonials in other forums that I had to try it. The trichs really stood out after washing. The washing is supposed to enhance flavor by rinsing away 3.5 months of dust, over spray, insects, etc and create a smoother smoke. I sprayed diluted milk during flowering as a pm preventative (nasty cold rain rollled through for 3 straight days) so I wanted to ensure any residue was washed away.
The bud wash turned out great. It was unreal the amount of dust and debris that floated out of the buds. Drip dried the buds on a "clothes line" with a fan blowing over for 24hrs and dried out the excess moisture from the wash and then placed into my drying racks. Smoke was very smooth. Was an interesting experiment but not quite sure it was worth the extra effort. Maybe if you have a pet hair situation or really dusty grow area then I could see incorporating this into your harvest routine but I think it was a one time thing for myself.
Being 2560 miles away from my stash is rough, but I have met quite a few kind people here on Maui and have sampled some nice home grown intense sun raised buds. HI needs to get with the times
