Hi everyone! So nothing really of note to report this week, she is definitely getting closer to harvest as she is uptaking significantly less nutrients now than she did a week or two ago so I have had to go down on nutrients and will probably have to lower it even more as it is still raising daily. She is also getting a bit fatter and denser but I'm really hoping to see some improvement here over the last weeks๐Ÿ™ I have again been pretty busy outside the grow tent this week building and setting up an outdoor gardening area at our house for my girlfriend to grow her vegetables, fruits, and flowers so I have had less time to be in there and have forgotten to take pictures some of the days. But it has been lucky that I haven't really had any problems to attend to in the tent so all I have had to do is the daily PH and EC measurements and then change the water every other day. Happy growing to everyone and thank you for the comments and encouragement! really appreciate the community in here and it's been a real help in my first grow!

I would change to ph water and let if fade then harvest at this point. It is what I do in my dwc grows.

what's up bro? Did you mix the nutrients in the correct order? First mix the silica and stir the mixture really well, your ph will be around 10 or so, so bring the ph to 7. Then add Micro, grow, bloom, then the enzymes and check the ph and bring it to 5.8. Don't worry if it varies from 5.8 to 6.5 I never had problems with it. About the roots do a root pruning, do you see how you have healthy roots after silica and enzymes? Take a pair of sharp scissors, sterilize them with alcohol and cut the damaged roots, this will not harm your plant, soon the new roots will be huge. The main problem with the dwc is the water temperature, I've suffered a lot, I was sad and discouraged with the dwc, but not having a cooler is 90% of the problems. When the water is too hot, this also causes deficiency because the oxygen level in the water drops and the plant cannot feed properly and uses more water to cool itself and less nutrients to feed itself. However, change the water every 7 days and good luck!!

@@RagnarLothbrook, what's up bro, thanks for the pointers!! and yes I have been aware of following the correct order of nutrients when mixing and mixing well in between each of them. I will get ready for a water change for her tomorrow and get the scissors sterilized and ready to prune the affected roots! And yes I did think the water temps were a bit of a problem so I will be covering the outside of the black bucket with reflective foil to try and lower the water temps. I also made a change to how I was moving air in the room, previously my 8-inch inline fan was just pulling air out of the tent and back out into the room my tent is in, but now I duck-taped it to a cracked window to ventilate it outside instead. This has definitely lowered the temperature of my grow tent significantly to between 67-78 with a small space heater running outside the tent, but this has caused the humidity to drop to 30-40%.

hello bro, yes this is the beginning of root rot. Will the plant die? the answer is no!! Just as things happen fast for bad in dwc they also happen fast for good. You were wrong to put too little hydroton in the netpot the light penetrated and infected the water. The silica and the calming will stop the pH of the solution, so it will be much easier for you, and the enzymes will clean the roots, don't worry!! Just start with 1/4 of the strength and see how it reacts and as the days go by increase the dose in the water changes. Hope this helps...

Is hydroguard a calmag thing? If not please feed them calmag. It pretty vital in Dwc especially if youโ€™re using filtered ro water.
Lungboi
Lungboi
@GrownyStark, yeah I have found a couple of places where I can get RO water near me, but yeah definitely an extra cost
GrownyStark
GrownyStark
@Lungboi, nice I was wanting to get it seeing it in peopleโ€™s diary. Just using what I have atm tho. You should research your local water store. My water shop has perfect ph RO water. Itโ€™s 6.0 and electrically charged out of the spout and settles to 7.0 after 24 hours. It allows me to put my ph adjusters away. All I add is calmag and my nutes now. Costs a pretty penny to refresh but the peace of mind is worth it. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Lungboi
@GrownyStark, No Hydroguard is not CalMag it is a bacillus root inoculant and if you are doing DWC I'd say that it's your best friend. I do use and have CalMag in the grow weeks of this diary also not using RO-filtered water๐Ÿ‘ But again must say that Hydroguard has been the best supplement I have brought into my DWC system!

Wow, you're getting close! They're looking shiny. Wondering the same as you about putting on the heft, but the ending can surprise you. Researching DWC flowering to find options for bulking up mine too.

@thesparebr, Yeah definitely smart to stay on the safer side to start before trying to push the limits! And yes, I'm probably gonna choose to go with some Big Bud!
thesparebr

@Lungboi, leaning towards Big Bud too. Mine were started different ways across a week so are scattered development. Not a big deal, but I'm going through diaries to get the timing right based on development, not weeks. We're both being cautious on the first one - smart move.

@thesparebr, haha yeah can't be too long now! And yeah, right now, I'm looking at adding maybe Big Bud by Advanced Nutrients or Liquid Kool Bloom from GH to my lineup to hopefully help bulk up a bit!

Hey there! I have a little experience with hydro back in the day and just started again. I think you might got a lil bit of root rot on one of your ladies. Does the roots look a feel slimy? If so.. it's probably root rot but no biggie. Looks like you ordered some stuff to fix the problem. Noticed you don't have enough hydroton in your net pots. You don't really want any light coming through since that's what could cause problems with our plants since it can make the water kinda funky. I don't think you can raise the rockwool a bit up from it's current position since you have a decent amount of roots coming through the bottom of the net pot and could possibly damage or break the roots. The leaves on a couple look lil rough but the rest of the plants looks really nice and will definitely bounce back ๐ŸคŸ. Good luck on your grow bud ๐ŸŒฑ

Lungboi
Lungboi
@WeedandDonuts, Hey, thank you for the helpful/encouraging comments!๐Ÿ™ and yes I realized myself that the plant is set too low in the pot but yes like you said I would be worried about damaging the roots if I attempted to move her higher up in the pot, which is why I tried to eliminate some light penetration with the foil around the sides of the netted pot. Also, regarding the bottom leaves that are not doing too well, would you take them off or leave them there? Also I'll be sure to follow along in you journey too, and see if I can steal some tricks! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Went a little longer than expected, huh?! They look awesome!! Curious about adding two hours to your light cycle when it flipped to flower. Wonder if that added some time and will maybe improve the yield.
Lungboi
Lungboi
@thesparebr, Haha thank you and yeah definitely went longer than expected and hoped!๐Ÿ˜‚ And I'm not sure about the light change in terms of adding time and maybe yield but maybe you could be right there, I more ended up adding the two hours of extra light because I was having a hard time keeping the temperatures from dropping too much overnight, so having the light on for longer allowed the temps to stay more stable. Just looked at your current update and your girls look awesome! really put on some weight!

Hey man nice job on your first DWC grow! There are a lot of comments that are spot on about light leaks and water temp causing root rot and algae blooms etc.. but I do not see anything about nutrient burn. I believe your problems started with overfeeding too early as well as overfeeding in flower. I have had seedlings go well over 7 days on just their cotyledon leaves before needing nutrients. I believe you burnt your seedling when you went over 300 ppms. They also dont like adjustments to the reservoir at that young age, It disturbs their natural microbiome of the roots. I suggest next grow to try and start your res at 250 ppm with 6ph and dont touch it for two weeks, After two weeks change the res to 350 ppm and watch if it swings up or down and add nutrients/water accordingly. Gradually increase it to 600 ppms as the plant matures. Your goal is to find the sweet spot where the ppms and ph stay the same while water level falls. Check out some of my grow journals for some proof of concept and notice how little nutes i use compared to what you did. Will save you big money and improve your final product. You could use just your micro and bloom all the way through the grow and hydroguard if you need it through the first 3 weeks. Add the other stuff if you notice deficiencies but thats it. Goodluck man hydro is the best way to grow!
Lungboi
Lungboi
@DoubleDsTrees, Thank you for the advice man! And yes will definitely go easier on the nutes on the next run and leave them be for the first two weeks, which I did realize a while ago but it was already too late at that point since I was already dealing with root rot and so on. And I will definitely check out some of your on diaries! Happy growing bud!
