It made me laugh reading that bit about the timing and waiting till afternoon, I had the same issue recently and I like going in getting it done and sorted in the morning, had to flip my whole routine around 😅.

@m0use, I still get that fear now and I'm using the led, I have schizophrenia so one of my hallucinations is smells and its always a danger smell, gas or fire ect lol that's had me run to my room a few times checking 😆. The heat issue was main reason for upgrading to led, had severe foxtailing and a ruined yield a few summers ago which made me go right it's happening, time to move to the future. I agree mate with that, despite me picking autos and all these mad new strains. I do want to get some northern lights or some old school strains done, my dad would tell me the weed in the 80s when he started smoking was much better than today, being in my 30s now, all I know is all this "haze" gear thats going around. I got that sick of the same stuff that's why I started growing. You are clearly on another level of knowledge when it comes to genetics, I'm at the stage still where I need to take the breeders word for it lol.

@Aldo90, I've never grown with HPS, I hear its OG king and make dense buds, I just worry about the heat buildup and fans/exhaust failing then the shit catches fire. Biggest fear HPS. I'm sure its low risk but still can't get it out of my mind. plus I fucking LOVE how much LED's came in the years. When I was younger I asked why we don't use the same lights as the computer tower. its little green "power" diode could like up the whole kitchen in the dead of night. I've also seen some other where the "auto" will not flip till it gets less light, i guess there is always risk of that stuff. Cannabis as a whole is so interbred now, I would like to see some old school strains come back, I don't care if they are not 20%+ I hate the super strong stuff, I want some more crazy after effects and flavours/scents. Like LSD with out the LSD.

@m0use, aye I completely agree with that, I'm the same in that regard I prefer to get it out of the way earlier in the day, I had some "auto" orange bud, which I vegged for 16 weeks before I had the wisdom to flip them, I've considered leaving them on overnight and being off during the day, that was how I used to run on the old HPS bulb, a few years ago now. With the led I've got I think I'm better running during the day just for the temperature in the tent, weather can be unpredictable up in the North West of England.

@gottagrowsometime, They are not doing so hot, I left to longer then I should have in the water and I transplanted them into little pots but they are hurting. its going to be a bit before or IF they do bounce back.

Looking good m0use....If you have a smart phone there are free lux apps that you can download for ios or android, and while they're not quite as good as an actual par meter, they will really get you in the ballpark for making light adjustments for free, I use an actual meter and a free app and the free app is pretty damn accurate especially on the newer smart phones (I use an S21 Ultra) which have pretty good sensors on them....

@Tweezer, they are good just not accurate. so if my baseline is off, I can alter it within a range and know its there but the true number is off. however if you calibrate it. its just as good as a pro meter. I might use one just to get a standardized reading. all my devices are old. I don't like big phones.
