Just dropped two seeds into a glass of water, covered it up and put it in a warm spot (my tent that has my OG and GG in flower!) ... I'll check in 12-24 hours and if the seeds sink, I'll be putting them in RootRiot cubes and waiting for them to germinate... See you in a few days (hopefully!!)
So they've both poked their heads up out of the Root Riot now and we're off to the races! One came up a day or two later than the other but that's ok - used to it! :-D
02/08 - So I'm changing the way I do my diaries - updating them at the BEGINNING of the week so the little ones are just starting their first week for me.... and one of them hasn't QUITE poked its head up but I pried open the Root Riot to see if I could see any action and she's definitely working at it... definitely GOING to be up - I'd planted the seed, I think, much too deeply... but I have no worries!
02/10 - #2 is very puzzling to me... it's almost as if the tap root started to grow (well, it DID start to grow) and then just stopped for whatever reason... it was top watered exactly the same as #1 - same frequency, same amount... just doesn't make sense... but I'm not giving up because things haven't actually died or rotted... so we keep going on - but if she ever DOES break the soil, she'll be behind #1 by quite a few days... just so odd....
MEANWHILE!!! #1's roots have hit the water and so I've given her the first dose of nutes... very small amounts of the GH Flora series as well as some H2O2 for preventative measures... I have great hopes for this little lady!
02/12 - #2 still hasn't come up from the RootRiot and I'm thinking she's got "helmet head" problems already... so I've put a couple drops of H2O2 on her seed casing hoping that will bring her up. #1 is doing very well - drinking and happy... Added her final layer of Hydroton.
A question from another grower who is also doing DWC causes me to comment here about ppm and EC readings. He was afraid, because he had read I never go above a ppm of 600-650 with my autos, that something was wrong with his grow since they were already at 600 and only 3 weeks old. The difference here was in the amount of water we're diluting our nutes into... my bucket contains 3.5 gallons of water where his is less than 2. If we both give exactly the same nute amounts, his ppm will be MUCH higher than mine - because mine is more diluted. So if you're looking to replicate anyone else's feeding and you're growing in DWC, take this into account! Example, currently, with 1/4tsp each of the nutes, my EC is 0.3 - his nutes are about twice mine and his EC is almost 1.0 - because he's using a lot less water.

02/13 - I've given up on the second seed... nothing's been happening and I'm tired of pussyfooting around... I think this was MY error, not simply a dud seed... probably drowned her! :-(
The little one that's left is doing really well and I will soon have another lady to share the tent with her... It's bucket change day for her.
02/14 - Bucket change yesterday, decided to go with the full amount of nutes... and she's taking them quite well.
03/02 - Wow, has she grown in the past week! Think I've been seeing a bit of a calcium deficiency starting so added the Calimagic - but it's hard to tell since she's also got some weird, genetic coloring in her leaves that are a bit confusing. Her newer growth is not showing the color deviations so I think that's all out of her system ... Will continue to LST this week and will raise her EC a bit as it's coming time she might go into pre-flower. I'm happy enough with this lady!
I've been remiss is keeping this diary up-to-date but things are going well with this lady. She's got the tent all to herself now and has JUST gone into flower so I'm pretty excited. It was difficult (nay - it was IMPOSSIBLE) to LST my Gorilla Glue and my OG Kush enough when they were both in the tent so I think this is going to be great. Frankly, growing in DWC, I'd rather LST the hell out of the plant rather than SCROG as I had done with GG and OG... scrogging made it impossible to turn the plant around to gain good access to the whole thing so my lollipopping of OG was a miserable failure and I had LOTS of larf to put into the bin when I harvested her (haven't made the harvest report yet as I forgot to take any photos - so don't go looking for it right now - I'll take photos of the dried harvest).
Now I need to go take pics of THIS lady! Life has been a bit hectic recently... sigh....
Lovely lady... but getting a little weird in that I've had to reduce her EC several times... I guess she just doesn't LIKE a whole lot of nutes! It's been a struggle this past week trying to get the pH and EC balanced out so they're both stable... and it ALWAYS happens to me about this time in each grow. Some year, I'll figure it out - until then, I'll remain a bit frustrated! LOL! Toying with the idea of doing more "defoliation" to get rid of what I KNOW will be larfy buds... even though I haven't officially "scrogged" her, I've used LST to essentially produce the same results so I'm planning to do a little lollipopping on her... might as well be today!
Sorry I haven't been keeping up this diary in the manner I had been... I've got a lot of idiot things going on in my life. If you ever have questions about what I'm doing or not doing with this grow, just DM me and I'll try to explain.... :-D
03/28 .... ok, she's now officially driving me bonkers. Wild pH swings even while the EC holds steady... I can't figure out what she wants at all but we continue to talk to each other... I'll figure out her language soon enough! She's going through a massive stretch period now which might be the cause of all the drama going on inside the bucket... just SHOOTING up and looking fine even if the numbers aren't what I would call happy. Gave her a pretty decent haircut just before she started stretching and I'm glad I did... so many more buds are now getting full light and I've got the canopy where I want it... Might have to do some more LST down the line if she gets much closer to the lights although I DO still have some room to move them up (thank god I got a taller tent!). She's taking her nap right now so I'll post more pictures when she wakes up....

She's done an enormous stretch but seems now to be levelling off which is a relief... getting awfully close to the lights! Her buds are just starting to bulk up and she is a VERY happy camper... as am I!
I've not updated this for a couple of weeks - been sick PLUS I hurt my back... but the little lady hasn't much noticed my lack of obsessive care and attention... she just keeps getting better and better. I'm super pleased I decided to only grow ONE plant in my 2x4... she's taking up a good 3/4 of it and the buds are all enjoying a LOT of good light... I think I still have another 4 weeks to go here but I'm not really counting... just letting her do her thing and wait for her to tell me when she's finished her remarkable journey..
This lady is incredible! Just going to town, starting her fade.... I've switched from the KoolBloom liquid to the dry formula now for her last weeks... and the EC is being brought down. Think I may have two more weeks with her? Certainly not more than 3... REALLY excited about this grow!
One more week.... taken away all nutes, fade is really strong on her now - STILL waiting to find some amber trichs but I'm actually not going to worry about them.... she's going to be chopped this time next week! What a fun grow she's been!
Since she's only started to dry, I haven't had the chance (duh!) to try to strain out for effects/taste/etc... but I'm really impressed with this and it may go to the top of my list!
More photos are coming... but for now, I'm super SUPER pleased with this grow! And I'm glad I only grew one plant in my 2x4 tent - she filled it up! Had I tried for 2 plants, I don't think the results would have been as stunning. From now on, growing in DWC and with the lights I have, I will limit the tent to one plant only... Next up in the tent will be an experiment... Going to be topping/cloning a Captain Future photoperiod and growing it in DWC while the "mother" and her sister go outside for the summer.
I'm excited to see just how much I got from this grow... I don't weigh wet buds because it's stupid (imho) to weigh wet buds that are still attached to the stems and branches ... so check back in about a week for the dry weight...
Haha, so now you are doing it my way. I asked you about it because I do find it easier to reason about, and from everyone I talked to, they did the opposite like you. Anyway, happy to help :)
@GrowingGrannie, I would bet it's fair to say most people do it the way you WERE doing it before, because now if you go to your page that lists all your diaries, it shows it as "2 weeks", because the site was presumably designed with the intention to add a week when the week is finished/ready.
Of course, we can do what we want, but there is that little off-by-one display error in the user interface. Then again, people should uhh...actually read the diary and not just look at a thumbnail with an approximate age on it...
I find this site messing with my head all the time. Now if your seed sprouts overnight, that is 1 day until you write week 1, you have a 13-day difference from what this site lists your diary's age as. Huh. 😮
@@resimax, yeah - when you asked that question, it made me stop and think! And it really WAS kind of stupid to write a diary at the END of the week.. LOL! That's one of the things I love about questions... makes you THINK!! :-D

Oof. As a fellow sufferer of chronic back pain (bulging discs) I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Hope you feel better and recover quickly! Grow looks great regardless!
@Enemy61390, btw... thought a good manipulation would help but my osteopath couldn't even do a MINIMAL manipulation... far too much pain... so now I'm on a whole bunch of steroids, anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxants and things are starting to turn around... THANK GOD! Also adding a bit of my own Pink Kush 30:1 CBD... :-D
@Enemy61390, I herniated a disc in my lower back TWICE in two days back in 1995... it will forever plague me, I know - but I've also gotten to the point where I know exactly what to do if something goes awry... but in this case, the problem/trigger was actually my mattress and I've spent a month and a half not having anything decent to sleep on so the problems just got worse and worse every day.... Finally have a new mattress that's going to be good but I'm having to see an osteopath next week to get things back in place.... Oh well, it is what it is....

I just kind of write a stream of consciousness when I do my diary - it helps ME much better when I go back to review what's gone right, gone wrong - much better than dry statistics! So many are getting so heavy they were dropping away from the light. Nice problem to have, though! I keep checking the trichs and they keep telling me "two more weeks, hon... leave me alone for two more weeks!" - but you're right... I don't think I'm going to want to to go past that....

Wow! What a stretch! Looks like she's got plenty of room to fill in with buds! Hope she does. Looking great! Random question, was this meph genetics? Only breeder I'm fairly familiar with the catalogue of and I know they have F5 CDLC but reports show terps of burnt rubber and that does not sound appealing to me 😂
@GrowingGrannie, 😂😂 My strawberry gorilla glue smelled like an onion! I hate onions! Trimming that beast was like the 6th circle of hell for me lol. I ended up giving it all away. Everyone said it was good but I just could not get myself past the smell 😅.
@GrowingGrannie, I've noticed sometimes the scent doesn't come until they pack on a little bud mass on certain strains. My bruce banner was like that. Not a smell out of her until like the 4th-5th week of flower. She looks good though! I just hope you don't get the burnt rubber smell, that is, unless that's what your after 😁. Looks like she'll be a solid producer regardless, keep it up!
@Canna96, thanks! Working hard at it! I had scrogged another DWC grow and it was almost impossible for me to attend to the plant properly - at least doing it with LST allows me to turn the bucket around to get at the entire undergrowth! :-D
Thanks for spreading the message about not touching the roots! So many people do not listen when I tell them "dont look at the roots, it disturbs the ecosystem, introduces pathogens"! Hopefully they will see this video and realize the benefits of root protection! Excited for the effects/final weight, I think this is your largest plant yet!! 😘😍😍
