Hi All. First grow and excited to try out this strain.
Planted 3 seeds, all the same. 2 are in 10L pots which will remain in the tent. Going to be putting the other outside(more info on separate diary).
Seeds were soaked for about 12 hours, poked and sunk to the bottom. Planted in Jiffy pellet and placed in dark tent and room. All fans and lights are off.
Follow along for more and please leave any behind tips or tricks!🔥
Week started off really well, by day 3 the stem began stretching, I have come to the conclusion that the two main contributing factors are the high heat of the past week, as well as placing the light to far early stage.
I have utilized an old tomato trick ot twisting the stem in new, moist soil. While the chance of irreversible stress on the plant is high, the last days check in seems to show improvement.
Temperatures are falling in coming weeks, hopefully enough for a chance at recovery.
More details to follow, as always, I look forward to any tips🔥🌱
This week was really slow as far as the little guys size goes. I definitely think that there was a bit of shock during the stem correction and that might be the reason for the stunt. The higher temperatures are surely not helping.
Watering when it's looking dry and feeling light with the same mix of nutes as last week.
Going to be keeping an eye on the growth in the next few weeks and hopefully she can still hold some great bud.
If you have any questions, or maybe a tip or two for a new guy, leave a comment. Happy growing everybody!🌱🌍🔥
So I can definitely see that the issues from germination have caused some stunt, while it's not really ideal (especially with Autoflower) I am going to persevere with this grow and learn as much as I can from the mistakes I've made.
A few things that I have picked up so far:
- Bring the light nice and close for the first 2 or 3 days after Germination.
- With autoflower in Pete, you really need to be spot on with nutes, anything over or under, you will notice.
- Trust your gut, I waited too long to treat this plants stem due to being to nervous to hurt her, I should have done it as soon as I saw the issue.
I will continue to share anything I learn to make myself and anyone else who might benefit, a better grower🌱🔥🌱
At the very start of the week I noticed the bottom starting to yellow out bad, this made me sure that there was some form of deficiency. I began to research some of the common causes and came upon a MASSIVE mistake on my part...
I purchased the wrong nutes for this grow, feeding "Micro" while I should have been using "Coco Micro". This means that since germination, she has had low nitrogen levels as well as a Magnesium and Phosphate deficiency. I got the correct nutes on day 26 and gave her a healthy helping. While I could see the change in a few hours with leaves darkening and growing a bit more, I am convinced that she will not manage to recover fully.
I will continue the grow however in an attempt to learn about the viability of rescuing an autoflower in future. I hope that others can learn from my mistakes so that your next grow is absolutely awesome🌱🔥🚬
Found a great deal on a used TS-3000 by Mars hydro this week, so switched to that for flower as by the end of this week, flower should start weather I like it or not. I also did a flush at the end of this week to get rid of all the old nutrient build up, starting back up on nutes once the plants are thirsty.
Apart from the strange spurt in length, there is not much to report, While I am sure she will not yield anything near what I went in hoping for, she will definitely still give me a pretty budd or two, or so I hope.
If anyone has any tips on how to get this girl any more bushy before the flowers start coming in heavy, I would love to hear from you. And if anyone could tell me which part of the stunting in this grow caused this plant to grow like this, it would be awesome.
Look forward to hearing from all of you! Happy growing🌱🔥🔥🌱
Started off the week with a flush, she took it like a champ and absolutely loved the next feeding. I stayed on growth nutes for an extra week with this plant, just to give it a chance to get some extra micros, I'll be switching it to flower nutes this week. Her stem has also thickened out nicely along with darkening of the leaves, which leads me to believe that we now have the deficiencies under control.
Temperatures have been great over the last 2 weeks and this girl is really enjoying the new grow light. I think I would like to upgrade my fan for the next run but for now, no complaints.
Appreciate everyone who commented and checked out her growth so far, I will continue to update weekly until harvest, lets see if this beautiful autoflower girl can recover in time for harvest.
PS. My wife has taken to naming her "Long Limbs Lenore"....
Happy growing gang!🌱🔥🌱
The week started out with more growth in height, to my surprise. Her limbs are getting longer by the day although they seem to be struggling to bush out. Definitely starting to get some decent looking sites (although small) which gives me a bit of hope to get some budd out of her.
I started to notice some browning on the tips of the leaves and have chalked it up to over watering, most likely due to her weird growth and having some difficulties to drink. After cutting back a bit, it seems that there is not any further damage. Also experienced some burn on a few of the top leaves as she grew basically into the light almost over night!
Apart from all of that, she seems happy - I will be switching over to flower nutes for the next week, before a flush and then finishing off with the same mix of Micro and Bloom before the final two weeks of PH water.
Thanks to everyone who has checked out the diary so far and I would love to hear your comments and suggestions!
Happy Growing!🌱🔥🌱
Not much to report this week, she has reacted really well to less water and it seems her leaves are slowly starting to heal. Growth has been quite consistent, with the colas growing just a bit every day. I am going to be monitoring her daily for the next week as I have a sneaking suspicion that she will begin fox tailing.
Further, everything seems to have evened out at this point and there are far less hiccups, I suppose it is now up to her to see how much development she can push into her budds before FAST approaching harvest.
I would love to hear all of your thoughts on what the main cause of stress was on this girl and what I can do to avoid it in the future!
Until next week, thanks for stopping by and happy growing gang!🔥🌱🔥
Not very much to report this week, just as the leaves started to recover a bit from less watering, they began getting more yellow as I assume she is nearing harvest. While I don't think that I will yield anywhere near what I would have liked too, it it incredible to see that even with the stresses that she underwent, she will still provide some fruits for my labor!
I am moving over to PH water for the remainder of the grow and she got a flush in the beginning of the week, I am beyond excited for the fast approaching harvest!
As always, thanks for stopping by and happy growing! 🌱🔥🌱
She was looking really rough in the beginning of the week as her leaves started dying out more and more before a few started falling off - since she has had such a hard time up until now, I am not to concerned about it - she is after all only a week or two away from the end of her life. The smell has gotten much more prominent in the last week and it has hit me every day this week when I get home! Smelling absolutely great - almost citrussy with a hint of fuel.
Still only feeding PH water although she has started drinking a little less it seems as I only have to give her water every third day or so.
I have learned so much from this grow and while I would have loved for my first grow to be a bigger success, I am extremely grateful for all the scenarios I was able to experience in such a short time. As always, thanks for checking in and happy growing Gang! 🌱🔥🌱
Nothing really interesting happened this week - she is shedding leaves at quite a rapid pace and should be ready to chop down in a few days. I am really excited about the strong smells that she is giving off, almost woody yet citrusy! colour wise she is not anything to write home about.
Looking forward to sitting down this weekend with a pair of scissors to see what this girl gives off! Thanks for everyones support during this grow and all the tips that I got from all sides - it truly helped a ton.
Happy growing gang and see you in a week or so with the dried result!🌱🔥🌱
Shout out to Humboldt Seed Organization for a truly awesome strain, she grew beautifully considering what I put her through with it being my first grow! She smokes as smooth as air and has great notes of wood and citrus, just as promised!
This grow certainly tested my patience and resolve with countless mistakes on my part, weather not playing along, and power cuts which just just kept me in my light schedule. However, I am thrilled with all the growing aspects that I was opened up too during this short time and the knowledge that I can now continue to build on.
I could not have asked for a prettier strain to grow for my first run, her small hints of purple excited me every time!
I made the decision around week 4 to continue this grow despite all the early set backs and stunts with an aim to learn the viability of trying to save an autoflower from such stress. While the internet and all other sources clearly state that it is not worth it, I needed to see for myself - in conclusion, I am convinced that I would have been better off starting over from the beginning but I glad that stuck it out for all that I learned.
Now to apply it all to the next grow! Happy growing gang!🌱🔥🌱
@Staggerlee, thanks so much for the comment, I actually have 2 other plants at the moment that I am LST'ing, they are already looking way better than this girl and went through some of the same stunts. I thought as this is my first grow, I would leave this girl all natural to see the difference between training and not, although I would have loved if she grew a bit more normally!😅
