Gardengobblin The 3 seeds out of 3 placed in a paper towel popped out of their shells yesterday, February 9, and were planted. They emerged from the soil the next day, today, February 10. They were in the paper towel for 30 to 32 hours before germinating. A 1 cm sprout. They are currently in the 2x2 under the Viparspectra P1000 for a good 2 to 3 weeks for sure. Two of the 3 are in 500 ml air pots and the other in a 500 ml pot.

Gardengobblin After doing autos for the last 3 years, I started a photoperiod run. Gelato Punch from the Californian breeder ELEV8. They germinated very well and have a beautiful first week. The sprouts are well established and are actually developing quite nicely despite my little mistake. My mindset has remained on the auto side, and I might have made the first mix a bit too early and too strong. They didn't die, but they were a little scared 😆. Everything seems to be in order despite that. I numbered the Gelato Punch from one to three to avoid mixing up the phenos. To accompany them, I also started an Ethos seed that I received as a freebie. A lemon diesel. Not my favorite strain, but I'm still looking forward to seeing it.

Gardengobblin The germination period went well, but due to my mistake, the first week of vegetation had some constraints. I watered a bit too much with the nutrients. I thought they were ready, but... So the elev8 Pheno1 didn't do very well, and I fear she won't survive. Otherwise, who knows, she might be a future monster. Pheno2 did very well with that. She's doing well, and during her first week, she developed more each day. Pheno3 had a little scare, but she recovered very well. Ethos lemon diesel is doing very well too. Nice development for her as well.

Gardengobblin The pheno one from Elev8 didn't survive. Pheno 2 needed special attention to not die as well, but it's been going pretty well for the past 2 days. Pheno 3 is gorgeous; it's in great health and developing well despite a slightly drier environment than it prefers. The Ethos, for its part, is doing very well too... A bit less growth than pheno 3 from Elev8, but it's also in great health.

Gardengobblin They were transplanted at the beginning of the week with promix conect. Wow, what an effect. They have doubled in size. The smells are really strong for plants that are not yet in flowering. Very skunky and floral. A few more weeks to work on them before the switch to 12/12.

Gardengobblin She's really growing well since the pot change. The Promix connection is the bomb. The smell of these plants, still just in vegetation, is incredible. Big skunk smell 😁 Every 2 days I keep working on her, tying her down further. The one in mainlining is really bushy now. I should do another 3 to 4 weeks of work before the switch. She should fill the 4x4 completely soon.

Gardengobblin Several techniques used on these three girls. Topping plus more heads with LST on the one at the top. (elev8 gelato punch) Same thing for the one in the center (ethos lemon diesel) And for the last one at the bottom also gelato punch elev8 A mainlining and topping👌🏻 Nice development. The branches are gaining a lot of weight in the last week to be able to support the future big heads 😁 First run of photoperiod with Fred T Lizer nutrients and I must say, it makes for beautiful healthy plants 👍🏼 Still 2 or 3 weeks before flipping to 12/12.

Gardengobblin Last weeks of growth before switching to 12/12. They are in the same tent as the 3 autoflower, so they will have to finish their flowering (the autoflower) in 12/12. The 2 elev8 gelato punch smell really strong. A lot of training on both. They each have at least 12 main tops. The ethos underwent the same training and it also has just as many sites for the tops. A top dressing of fresh mealworms by fred t lizer was done, 2 teaspoons per liter of soil (30 teaspoons total per pot) with the same amount of vermicompost.

Gardengobblin Beautiful healthy plant. A little lolipopping has been done. The flowering is well established and the structure is evolving day by day for the past 5 days. They didn't have a crazy stretch, but they have provided well, making them much stronger in terms of tops and branches. The ethos is a bit less strong on that side, but still very well equipped to support nice big buds.

I never, ever defoliate, not even one leaf for more than 30 years. I only ever remove yellow/dying leaves. If your plant would not need those leaves, it would not grow them in the first place!

Hello, i don't think that you will get a consensus here as it always ends up in giant ego fights everywhere. But i do use - or not - this technique since more than a decade ago Genetics matters. The more equatorial sativa the plant is, the less defolation is beneficial. Like a pure sativa would barely need it. If so. But anything with bubba, deep chunk, monkey ball or pure indica craves for it. And i never got the gut to tickle the tiger by the tail but i don't think the bud density would do great with that much evaporation literally stuck in the canopy I think it's an unnecessary and evolutionary thing, leaves are like water pump, so in the wild it was needed but they adapted themselves to the strong light too - those giant leaves don't exist in the nature The plant density counts too. Like the right side would need it but to me, imo, the left side would have need to be crowded a bit more - i do believe there still a loss with this technique so i always overgrow to compensate it  So for me, yes for heavy indica, no for sativa but in the end it will depend of the grow condition

Gardengobblin The flowering is well established, it seems promising. The buds are well set and developing day by day. The 2 elev8 have an incredible skunky smell, can't wait to see if they keep that scent. For that, Ethos is going in the same direction as the Tropicana Cookies, which is citrusy but a bit more lemony. In 2 to 3 weeks, they should be able to fill the 4x4 by themselves.

Gardengobblin The girls are doing very well. Nice development of the structure. It's starting to take shape. Another defoliation has been done. The elev8 seems to have two different phenos, one of them is really coloring a lot. The smells are still just as intense and the frost is already beautiful.

Gardengobblin Wow what a beautiful plant. Smell is quite floral/skunky, really a lovely scent from my childhood. The colors are also on point. The leaves are nicely dark, and the buds are very pale and frosty with a subtle touch of purple and pink. They are now in flush for 4 days. Of course, I'm using the flush and sweet from Fredtlizer to help preserve the flavors.
