I think I stuck some cains in this week as the buds are fattening and the plants are a bit too lanky. With the exception of the Blue Gelato #41 that is squat, compact and bushy.
The green gelato is very hairy, putting out lots of pistils, bud looks airy but healthy and smells really nice.
The blue cheese looks to be yielding well, very round, neat nuggs. Smells oldskool, earthy blueberry to me more than cheese but it’s nice.
Green gelato has a really pleasant citrus smell and seems to be more lanky, thinner fan leaves and airier buds, likely more sativa pheno.
The blue gelato 41 has the most tight, picturesque nuggs, I mean it’s a work of art and frosty too.
Chunking up nice. The green gelato is still putting out a ton ‘o’ pistils.
The blue cheese has some fox tailing now probably because it’s so tall and getting loads of light. I like the way the lower nuggs are neat balls either side of the stem (I’m aware how that sounds lol) it just looks neat and the bud looks really healthy, if not the most triched out or whatever.
The blue gelato has dark leaves and some of the nicest looking buds, smallish but rock hard, frosty & pointed at the top.
Oh the green gelato really slowed down on water and got a few crispy leaves, not quite nute burn but seemed a bit stagnant, locked out. So I gave the medium a good flush through and brought down the tds because it was pretty high.
The top buds on the blue cheese are foxtailing quite a bit now and showing signs of mild herming, couple of naners but I just need to keep it real and push on.
Autumn (fall 🇺🇸) has arrived in the tent, final flush of the medium and water only for a couple of weeks to finish. I’m not necessarily an advocate of flushing practice either way, but I think it’s a good way to have the plants wind down and finish up, and it’s an efficient use of any remaining nutes in the medium. So no bro science here just practicality.
Fan & sugar leaves are yellow and curling one more week and we’re done. May leave the Green gelato a couple of extra days because it’s still putting out fresh pistils but some strains/phenos do that, she’s definitely ready trichs are predominantly milky.
Smoke was initially a favourite because it was very reminiscent of blueberry from back in the day, the smell when growing was very much blueberry, but didn’t come across as well in the flavour, which was still strong, skunky and with an edge of blueberry. I only grew one seed but this was not what I’d consider even near a keeper, the nuggs are tight but not super dense or oily, smoke was decent, but I’m aspiring to growing better weed than this. Yield was excellent.
This strain is almost perfect, smell, look, resin production, bud structure, how little trouble she was in veg…etc…. even yielded really well for a smallish, bushy plant, the only thing letting it down was slightly lacking in flavour, flavour was nice don’t get it twisted but I had very high expectations because everything else was so good, and it fell short a little. I did cure some further for a few months and it was better. All in all I’d recommend this strain, another banger from Barney’s farm!
Yeah so the buds were nice and healthy but loose and hairy and a bit airy. A vibrant, luminous green and very bright orange hairs, silvery trichomes. The smell was nicer than the other two if I’m honest, beautiful but subtle lemon/lime type citrus and seemed a little more sativa (lanky plant, thinner fans, uplifting high) leaning to me, but who knows?
Some notable friends who tried it said it was their favourite, despite not being as heavy a hitter as the Blue gelato and the buds less aesthetically pleasing.
Shame I didn’t get any creamy, sweet ‘gelato’ from it but the bud smoked very smooth and had a nice taste. The high crept on but wasn’t strong as such, perfect for daytime/gotta function type smoke.
