I apologize for the delayed updates, as you can see the exponential growth from the first posting.
They are a bit tall already only in the first week of flower as I left them veg for 6 weeks, rookie mistake. I tried to fix the issue by using LST on Chilli #3 plant to open it up and even out the canopy, I plan on lowering the scrOG to achieve more even canopy management giving each branch and min stock their own personal scrog square for more support as they are both going to need over the next 5 to 6 weeks of flower growth (stretch). I also had to adjust the lighting heights and fans to be able to maintain proper light coverage, without burning the plants.
As for maintenance I plan to defoliation and lollipop / prune (any lower "larf" growth and or lower bud sites also known as " suckers") to make sure the plant is focusing all its energy into the main stock or branches. I am trying to achieve a higher quality of top colas then I am trying to achieve a the most bud yielded.
WATCH OUT for upcoming grows;
Grwrn #2; April 27 - May 8th:
3 Blue Cherry Pie - (Parkland Flower breeder) are currently in week 3 of veg. I will be transferring them to flower tent over the next few weeks and creating a new grow dairy entry of the Blue Cherry Pie from Parkland Flower.
Grwrn #3; May 1 - June 20:
Midnight Moonlight - Lovin' in her eyes
3 Cherry Cake - Parkland Flower
Week 3 of flower growth the bud sites are starting to fill out, next coming weeks the buds should start to fatten up. I have not had any issues with pests and or PM (knock on wood) as I have temperatures and humidity controlled.
Week 4 of flowering, bud sites are fattening up, I am feeding them 1 gallon every second day and or light to touch. I heightened my lights 6 inches for better light penetration through canopy. I defoliated last week on day 24 day of flowering, along with pruning any excess "suckers or larf branches and bud sites.
On week 5 of flowering, the smell is starting to really take a turn. It has this wonderful fruity, sour earthy aromas. The bud sites are starting to fatten out and pistols are just about to start changing from whitish yellow to natural progression of what looks to be bright orange.
I chose to defoliate Monday April 3, 2023 as I added self watering plant saucers from A/C Infinity to help with a more natural feeding then relying on touch or look. They now share space with 2 Blue Cherry Pie plants that transferred to 12 to 12 hour light schedule tent.
I have not had pests or PM thus far ("knock on wood"), I sanitized and disinfected the grow tent, lights, fans, exhaust fan with bleach to clean and vikron to kill any fungus.
Week 5 flower nothing to report I did one last defoliation, stopped calmag in the nutrients recipe feeding, feeding around 12 litres. Smell is hard to put my finger on, I would say a sour fruit smell with a bit of a sour grape funk.
Week 7 flower - added a bunch of new pictures to show off the structure and stack of bud sites. I have not any issues with pests, PM, and or any other type of deficiency either than the lack of potassium as shown on tips of leaves. I am going to add a Grotek booster bloom the Blue Cherry Pie run that is up next. I last week of feeding nutrients, week 8 will be dedicated to flush, followed by week 9 or 10 harvest.
Flower Week 8 - Trying out a Ice water flush, seems to be going good, I will compared at the end to see if it helps with for announced trichomes Harvest next week.
Low THC strain, I was expecting a little more bang for the buck. It has a very subtle high much like smoking a 30% hash, very mellow body high, relaxing but nothing that noticeably stands out. #3 plant has terrible taste but the #1 has a very sweet citrus tropical funk smell that comes through when smoking but again the THC is low I would 9% to 14% Total THC. I think I am going to just make edibles, bubble hash wash and press into rosin or fresh flower press into live rosin.
Growing experience was great the plants really took off after transplanting from red solo to 3 gallon during vegetation grow stage. I transferred both plants a week late into the flower tent but they still grew very well due to the Srog and low stress training as I was able open up the canopy to produce bigger yields. Using Grove Bags to cure after drying for 10 days controlled humidity of 60% and temperatures at 19.5 degrees with fan circulating air.
Plants have been harvested, dried and trimmed. They are in the second week of curing in grove bags. I plan on doing total weights and final pictures of the harvest when curing is completed. Moroccan chilli #1 had a bigger yield in terms of bud structure and big buds. Moroccan #3 had a good but did not manage to get very many big buds more of the tight smaller buds and nuggets. Moroccan #3 had some purple coloration, no purple buds with Moroccan #1.
I have smoked a few nuggets of both and they have a distinct terpene profile, taste and smell that starts out fruity and funky but ends with an earthy, peppery, hash taste upon exhale. I would say they are hybrids of dominant indica. The high is a powerful creep as it starts a pretty mellow body relaxing body followed by this on slot of this cerebral wave that molly whops you into another dimension.
I am excited to see the maturity of the cure and to see the comparison from only 1 week of cure to 4 weeks of cure.
I harvested on May 1st, drying in a dark room with humidity at 54%, with a temperature of 19 degrees. I plan on drying them out for 14 days. from there trimming and curing for the following 2 to 3 weeks in grove bags.
