I had this strain in a diary with 2 others decided to break it down into singles. This diary started on week four because I’ve gravitated here from another diary. I am just going to copy and paste what I wrote for that first week, which is actually week 4:
Let’s see if I can post every week on this one. My last diary faded out and got so much better at multiple strain growing. This is week 4 of my 4 strains 3 in this diary listed. Started LST & leaf tucking last week. I water every other day at this point and light feeding every other watering. I should have waited a week before LST on the OG it grows real wild the first month and is a mess till budding. The BCN was having a phosphorus deficiency added extra bonemeal and corrected the problem. The Red Jack is growing like mad the fan leafs are bigger than my hang (I am 6’2”) and there stems almost a 1/2 inch thick making it hard to tuck.
I started this journal on week four of the grow with 4 strains and this diary had 3 strains in it and this week I broke them up into three different diaries. (Brain Damage had its own. She had a rough one this week because of these Air Port being fungus gnat motels my on the fly solution:
I let them dry out to the point where I could pick up the pot with one hand
Put in a sanitized tub and did a bathtub flush with DE (diatomaceous earth) and mosquito bits in the water it’s all I had on hand.
I Took 2 cups of mosquito bits. Soaked them in 2 gallons of water then added my nutrients from above also including beef bone stock powder, blackstrap molasses and filled every hole with DE.
Water her with 1/2 gallon of brew.
If you look at the pics I screwed up as I was turning off the water from faucet I turned the cold off first and it blasted half of her with hot water. I left her alone no training or tucking need a couple days to see where she is at. O.G. Kush is my favorite strain but it’s a pain to grow. If using LST you have to adjust her every day becase of her erratic growth Up to and into flowering. This is a problem left unattended I have had her choke herself out for some reason it loves to grow in a tangle when using LST
I put her in flower section this week since there is like 2-3 prebuds. The disaster of turning the cold water off first and (I thought it was over) got a section blasted with hot water and started to wilt. She came back like a hulk. Only one small branch had to be amputated and some discolor on the leafs. O.G. Kush is such a pain in the ass for a indoor grow. They are stringy, grow wild and all over the place. I have to go and hand comb with my fingers the whole plant every few days to untangle her.
Why do I grow it if it’s so temperamental. It’s by far my most favorite old school strain.
She is looking very healthy. The DE, mosquito bits, letting pots dry up and flushing did the trick on the fungus gnats no sign since last week. I have found that if you act rapidly to fungus gnats you only need minimal treatment. Let their breeding cycle go a couple times and it’s almost impossible without stressing plant. I have found that that product mosquito bits works phenomenal for stopping their breeding cycle. Have a pic of the bag in the photos. It’s all organic it’s all natural. It’s microbial larvicide.
I mix it with my top layer of soil every grow. These Air Pots have hole in the sides and it’s my first time using them, wasn’t warned they are gnat motels unless you have a rigorous watering method.
No LST since I noticed all the cola sites. I like to let them ease into flowering the first week because I am heavy handed when it comes to LST. I have had one of my girls turn into a hermaphrodite from heavy LST, strangest cannabis plant you will ever see in your life.
Since she is budding I won’t LST till next week. Let her recoup a little more from the hot water bath and to get ready for the final LST positions. I don’t cut a single leaf while it’s in veg and all most all of the budding cycle.
This strain is a pain to grow at first but once she starts to bud and her limbs become defined. It easier to train her. There is so manny straggly small branches it takes a few weeks to get a LST method down. I like to train all the small week one to the middle of the plant because of the way I train. I LST from the time it gets its first true leaf. At this point I like to try and divide the plant into its main stalks. After about a few days I start to LST the taller and bigger limbs. I have been finding Millipede and a couple Of centipede not sure if they are harmful or not going to have to research that and I’ll get back to yours I have noticed the more attention you put towards getting light as far down into the plant as possible the more large buds I have instead of a bunch of popcorn buds. That’s why I am pulling all the limbs towards the rim of the pot. I try and get it to the point where I can almost see the bottom of the main stock in the soil when looking down from the top. Then what I do is I tuck all of the fan leafs and then a gently untangle all of the small tiny branches with buds on them to the middle to get more sun so in the end instead of having a bunch of popcorn buds at the bottom of the plant I actually have some pretty decent size buds. There is almost no evidence of the hot water fiasco and is now at the stage where she becomes manageable and is fun to grow
Week 8 and all is good. My O.G. Kush SeedStockers from seed-city.com is one of my favorite strains to smoke. She is always a mess till she starts to push out sugar leafs then I can start to LST the bigger branches outward and the scraggly ones to the middle so they can mature into nice buds and colas. Witch has always bumped my final harvest up to and over double the average one. I switched up my nutrients to add Fox Farm Tiger Bloom and Grow Big. First time using 3 Fox Farm nutrients. I found a deal I couldn’t pass on cheaper then the Miracle-Gro and pure nitrogen I have been using. I have been slacking a little posting this week. I am still heavily preforming LST. I use plastic coated gardening wire and pink twin (be able to see it) been finding a bunch of millipedes squirming around in the catch pan after I water. I think they are good cause I know they are carnivores so plant is safe. Have to research if they are harmless or not. Going to ask our community and will get back. I put a couple before LST and after I am done. I have gotten lucky this grow only real problems have been either my error in being heavy handed breaking shit or the usual from a learning curve using these new AirPots (Small fungus gnat infestation). I rotate my plants often so light has a chance to hit everything.
This strain is a pain in ass till I get to this stage. The scraggly little branches that were weaved through the whole plant are now getting light and growing. The bud sites are all defined. OG Kush grows all over the place when in veg. It’s not till she is in bud that I can sort through her and get those little buds up and in the light. I switched nutrients in the middle of the grow because I found a deal on Fox Farm Trio I could not pass up and I am so happy I did. When I grow multiple strains at once I use either OG Kush or BCN Critical as my control and they are a lot larger than they usually are at this point. She is getting sticky and start to stink so nice. Very sweet smelling.
O.G. Kush (OG) is a tough grow till about 65-70 days in. She grows everywhere and wildly. She keeps vegging even while she is budding. Instead of clipping those scrawny branches and limbs I like to see how big I can get them. I don’t cut anything unless it’s absolutely necessary. As she defines her bud sights it becomes easier to LST and sort through the mess. I try and train them to fill the open spaces in the tent. I LST when I can but till I like to push my plants hard. So much, so they usually take 2-3 weeks longer than the average. I had to add some Mosquito-Bits to my water for a couple of waterings. There were a couple fungus gnats floating around and I like better safe than sorry. I have found with these Smart-Pots watering can be tricky. Too much and you get a huge gnat bloom, so many places for them to crawl out or the soil get to dry to absorb water. I figured out watering I have to go slow. I use a watering can with a long spout and I water till the top is covered in water then let it absorb then repeat till I see it flowing from the bottom and not all the holes in the sides. There is some spots on her leaf’s from getting my feed water on her leaf’s. I like to leave all the leaves till they fall off. There is usually a few left so when I start to flush she can nourish her self from them.
This is one of my favorite time except for harvest
with this strain. I can finally take and bring all the twiggy and scrawny limbs and branches to the middle and up to the canopy. As the bud sites become more pronounced I can start to bend and coax to the open parts of the tent. By next weeks between this OG Kush and the BCN Critical I won’t have any light penetration to the bottom. She is getting a little yellow on top not sure of it’s too much light or not enough nuts so I hit her with a large dose of food. Will see in the next few days of it firing change I will flush her in bath tub insane it’s nute lock
- [ ] She turned in hermaphrodite on me this last week. I noticed the fan leafs were kinda small for this stage in her grow and the buds didn’t look right and it hit me, like a slap in the face, she turned into a hermaphrodite. I have had this happen to me once before, It is the second time I’ve had a plant in bud, and it switched into a hermaphrodite. It was this same strain from the same place. The last time this happened one of my buddies took the plant and let it grow and harvested the seeds and made concentrate. I let Zie grow the rest of the week and pulled Zie and shoved Hir in the closet for 36 hours and will process the hermaphrodite. I knew something was off since Zie started to bud I just thought it was a different Genotype, but nope, she flipped and turned hermaphrodite. I am not sure what I can actually do with Zie. I microscoped Zie and there is a huge amount of sugar all over. I would imagine I can harvest The hermaphrodite like I normally do and smoke the hermaphrodite or use the whole plant to make concentrates. It really sucks when your almost 12 weeks into a grow and have this happen. I pulled the Hermaphrodite because I have 2 other plants almost ready to harvest and I didn’t want them to go to seed. It only takes a few pollen to have a plant full of seeds. I am going to hit the community up for suggestions on what to do with Zie. One positive is it freed up enough room for my BCN Critical XXL to really spread her out and I now have a full tent again.
