- EOW 4: I added the octopus light @ 12 hours a day. I’ve noticed a nice jump in growth. It’s only been 3 days. (See pics for comparison)
- We’ll step up the nutrients today with come GHE grow.
The plant is doing well, although she’s showing signs of too much nutrients in white tips leaves. We’ll back off and flush her with water for the next few days.
Hello Cultivars! Second grow for me and I'm looking for some advice. How long do "you" LST? I have had several conversations on this and figured I'd post the question since I'm new on the platform. TIA! Happy Growing
Okay. 1st things 1st let's talk about defoliation. As that will play a part in how soon you can LST.
As your plant grows. It has 2 energy drawing points at each node point. The node itself and the big ass fan leaf underneath. Normally after, your shoot aka node can stand on its own. It's best to remove said fan leaf below it. As this will transfer that energy to your node(s) and will stop making big fan leafs. If you look at my Pure Instinto grows or GHS. I pushed it to the extreme and took all fan leafs early as soon as shoots were up. Growth was slow for a few weeks. But has made for the most even nodes I've had in a grow. Also defoliation can be used. If 1 node is growing taller than the other. You can slow the one that's growing quicker by removing some of its foliage to slow down that side, not the fan leafs, "it'll be more leafs on the node itself im talking about"....and if You take 1 fan leaf or leaf from a node, try repeat on its opposite side.
As for node LST. you're just not there yet. As I can see. Your plant is focusing its energy wrong and making big fan leafs. Remove them, "fan leafs", your shoots aka nodes, have enough leafs/foliage to kick start their own growth.
Generally you want to see a few inches before you need to start messing with them. I even tend to leave it until more near the flip. Especially with the new techniques I've been using, removing most of the fan leafs early on. Has made for a real uniformed natural node growth. That doesn't really need LST, 'yet.
Lots going on this week. LST / HST / topped her off and she was showing signs of nutrient burn on the tips so I switched to just PH h2o and she looks happy & healthy. Will post more pics and a video
Only if you are growing in real soil.
Plants do not uptake the sugars, but rather they produce different kinds of sugars of their own and then send those back down to the soil. Microbes feed on these sugars, mine the nutrients, and then send the nutes back up to the plant via the root system. The molasses adds extra sugars to the soil for the microbes to consume.
I recommend Black Strap molasses because is has increased sulfur content - which cannabis loves. I would add some microbes (bacteria) and also mycorrhiza (fungus) while adding molasses. The mycorrhiza actually feed on the dead microbes and are involved in the food chain that sends the nutrients back up the plant.
A lot going on this week. New MARS Hydro light was installed and it kicked growth off like I haven’t seen before.
It prompted me to do a cleanup to make room for the switch to flower. I’ve continued with LST and hst as much as I could. While applying the training, the smell is potent and sweet. Check out my last post for detailed week. Happy Growing!
The end of week 8 is here. Finally. We’re going to flip this beauty into flower today now that we have the N deficiency under control.
Now that she’s been fed and lovin life it’s time to see what she’s got. Still debating whether to transplant her to a larger pot. With possibly 8+ weeks to go I don’t want to hit a snag with this girl and her 8 colas!
She’s stretched quite a bit this week and the smell is definitely present. If I do transplant her I’ll be sure to take pics. Happy Growing ! 🌱
Man, what a crazy week. If you go back to week 6 you’ll start to see signs of the claw on the leaves. I thought it was a severe nute deficiency but I knew I was feeding her GHE correctly. This is my 2nd run with this particular strain so I could rule out several factors. She’s been fed with a nice blend of food that helped a ton, but she still seemed sick.
It wasn’t heat stress, although I’ll be watching the RH levels now that she’s been flipped to flowering.
I noticed a couple things I thought were nutrient deficiencies but after further research on Growweedeasy.com, Nebula had my answer!
You’ll see in the 1st pic her roots were so bound up I was suffocating her 😢
The first tip that got me thinking: I’d water her and 2 days later she was bone dry. The PH water levels were a bit off in the drain off but nothing crazy. I’m sooo glad I found this when I did as I just flipped her into flower. Growweedeasy.com to the rescue. It amazing content! Highly recommend the site. If you’ve read this far, kudos to you. The transplant had to take place. She looks great in her new 4 gallon with a nice fresh soil blend I like to use. 🏡. #Backtoroots
Her smell is sweet like papaya, bday cake, and hints of citrus from the limonene.

What else can I say. The transplanting resolved all of our issues. I was worried about her not making it as it was week 1 in flower. It couldn’t have been a worst time to do this.
The new pot didn’t allow me to keep her held down so I had to improvise with some tie downs and duct tape.
She is popping new bud sites everyday and she’s really thriving. I won’t go back to that smaller pot with a photoperiod.
This strain is a breeze to cultivate. She’s really forgiving and isn’t too picky once she needs what she wants.
I bumped up her feeding accordingly as well as gave her some molasses and a nice amendment feeding. Don’t tell my kids, but this closet freak gets more attention from me. 😂😂 J/K

I sliced my thumb open so this weeks report will be short.
We had budlets show up and have come in strong. All 7 colas are firm and strong. I was able to apply some tie downs to allow more light in to the bottom canopy.
No issues to report other than some small colored tips that I’ll keep my eye on. The environment is pretty solid. No issues there to report.
In case you didn’t know, we are approaching the most crucial weeks of flowering, weeks 4-6. From my research, this is a very crucial time for cannabis plants.
Hopefully my thumb will have healed up next week. This is what I get for planting a tree on Earth day while stoned!
I gave her a feeding this week of a nice amendment blend. This period has been pretty quiet, I’m just making sure she’s happy and fed, getting good air flow and of course, talking to her. I’ve always talked to my plants, the increase in CO2 helps your plants to feel comfortable in their environment. I also did one last defoliation
All 7 colas have large pistil buttons with bud sites all the way down each stem. The stretch has slowed now that we are in week 3-4. I’ve added more lights (octopus light) to focus on the lower growth. She’s now using all of that energy to make the magic happen.

Week 5 of Flower is over and my Papaya Cake girl is showing her true colors and smells! She is in full bloom and pumpin trichomes like a Queen.
Report:
I’m seeing a “tiny” bit of nutrient deficiency pop up but nothing to be alarmed about. She been getting straight 6.2 ph water and nothing else from here on out. Shout out to the YouTube channel “Welcome to the Grow tent” and “Growweedeasy.com for pointing out a few mistakes I’ve made along the way and saving my ass when I thought it was a Nute defi but was just a root bound plant. Their reccs have made a HUGE diff in my yields and overall plant structure.
The last run with this strain was nothing like this girl. The smell in the morning around 8:40 and 6:40pm in the evening is something you could write a book about.🎂
Your nose picks up faint odor of papaya and vanilla wedding cake. Hence the lineage she came from would make the most sense.
Do you talk to your plants? I do and I know they are paying me back for the CO2 they need.

Not much to report this week. I gave her last feeding at the beginning of the week. Nothing crazy, just a snack going into the final push.
I thought we were over the deficiencies but she’s still showing a bit of burn. Not much I can do now but ride it out.
The smell is just dank. There’s no other way to put it. This strain is not for beginners, it’s a heavy indica used for medical purposes. 😎
Well Cultivars, we’ve reached week 7 of flower and I’m just catering to her needs at the moment.
I feel very lucky with my closet grow set up as my RH stays in check for veg and flower. I’ve literally never made any adjustments to the environment.
My first run with this strain was a learning experience, I recall the buds were big but not as big as this go around. I owe it to my MARS Hydro TS600 and with the help of Growweedeasy.com I learned a few things that helped me produce such large healthy colas.
I can’t wait to see what her thc tests at when done.
Overall things went really well. The Mars Hydro light changed the outcome dramatically.
We’ll see you next run, which isn’t too far away. Looking to gro some Khalifa Kush. It’s such a nice tasting flower.
