4/13 We are now entering the actual week one of flowering for my sativa beauty. Generally, I count the stretch as transition and not real flowering, once the growth stops or slows ill start the flowering clock. This approach coupled with LED's has provided close to breeder promises with regards to flowering times as they tend to mature a little slower. Since flipping, there has been a weather change in my area which is making this slightly hotter, my tent now sits around 85 degrees and apparently apart from drinking a gallon a day the ladies love it. The two larger plants are beginning to require daily irrigation to avoid the medium drying out which is what I'm attempting to achieve. I was feeding around a gallon and a half every other day, but I changed to roughly a gallon and some runoff daily which seems to be working. I was worried about over feeding but it seems I'm under feeding her. Generally, her leaves had a yellow tinge to them, but as the pictures show three days and a stronger regiment has led to a slightly darker profile. Training so far has been defoliation in the form of removing larger fan leaves and those crowding emerging tops. This has led to a boom in shoots trying to become the one, but in the end they all bend the knee. Additional training is in the form of LST with some highly visible string, this is the most effective and time-consuming part of my routine but its only for a few weeks and then things get boring. Finally, I have some 90-degree clips which help fight the new growth, it keeps them in place for 24 hours and allows them to harden up a bit. From here, I simply play musical chairs and further restrain this vigorous female. In closing for today, this is my second attempt at running a screen so I'm sure there's a lot to learn, hopefully nothing gets screwed up and we see some good genetics in the reproductive department. The sativa lady does have some of the thickest and most at attention stigmas I've seen in a minute outside of hydro, I can only assume things are dialed in and she has a strong root system.

Hello, I need to solve a feeding issue, my lady is in transition and very well into veg; Her medium is noticeably dry in 48 hours and requires roughly a gallon and a half of water to feed. How can I feed daily, the ppm's are low @ around 530 since she's thirsty? Thank you!.

you should always irrigate until entire volume is saturated, wait for top 1" to dry and repeat... how often and how concentrated your fetilizer is depends on multiple factors.. primarily how often you fertilize vs water-only. if the drinking of the plant warrants daily irrigations, do it... do you have to wait for top 1" to dry? not really, but you may get some algea and increase risk to something actually harmful with a constantly wet substrate. Some minimum loss of water-mass should occur before re-irrigating. your drainage qualities of substrate, the size of the plant and the size of the pot will dictate whether or not it is feasible. you only hve 20% perlite+vermiculite, so your drainage qualiteis are not optimal for such a method of irrigation. Wait until the pot loses at least half of its weight when recently watered. this will be well before 1" is dry up top, if you want to try pushing it. evaporation occurs at a fairly slow rate - surface to volume ratio limits exposure to some extent to atmosphere. in a matter of 2-3 even 5 days evaporation should not cause a problem whatsoever. look to other causes and other ways to manipulate the results you want. if you want to feed daily, go soilless. buy 100% soluble and chelated 'hydro' nutes.. improve drainage quality with 50/50 sphagnum peat to perlite or 70/30 coco to perlite (vermiculite is also a valid option as are other things) large chunks of anything or 'logs' (sticks and shit) are not a good thing to have. some fibrous material is good.. you want fluffy and airy. you need the right sized pot and plant for this to work smoothly.. when they are drinking fast enough you can do 2-3 fertigations a day if you want... or if the dynamics only allow 1/day stick to that... think some sources recommend a 25-33% "dryback" which really means loss of water weight, preferably the vast majority from the plant drinking vs evaporation.

@Sharkyd, Thank you!!, It's kind of a Zen thing, being able to direct growth and see how she is doing every day makes it worth it. I am just happy that they are doing well with the stress of screen. Took a peek at your journal, nice explosive growth you appear to be in full development and that recovery time after defoliation, great job!
