Weeks prior to this documented here(r): https://homegrowndiary.com/diary/2051-jack-herer-x2-fem/week/9
LIGHTS: 45-50% @ 31-30"
FANS: 5/10 x2
3/9/23 @ 10:30am - Both plants given roughly 5 cups of campden water pH'd to 6.15. Might have to LST the secondaries soon if they keep shooting up. Noticing early stages of calcium deficiency, so I bought some CalMag for next watering.
3/11/23 @ 10am - Both plants got a heavy defoliation since we're getting closer to flower. I will be watering them tomorrow morning then allowing them several days for recovery. Calcium deficiency is looking worse too.
3/12/23 @ 10am - Both plants given roughly 6 cups of campden water + our Cal-Mag (2 TBSP per Gallon) supplement pH'd to 6.3. Tied down some secondary branches since they were shooting up a little too tall.
3/15/23 @ 11am - Both plants given about 5.5 cups of campden water + CalMag + RECHARGE pH'd to 6.3. All the bud sites are looking green and healthy. Probably going to wait at least another week before flipping into flower, probably two.
3/18/23 @ 11am - Both plants given about 5.5 to 6 cups of campden water + (2 tsp/gal) CalMag pH'd to 6.25. One more week should help me determine whether or not we still have calcium deficiency. I'd like to get that sorted out before flipping.
3/19/23 @ 10:30am - Today (Sunday, March 19th), marks exactly 9 weeks since these girls have been planted.
3/20/23 @ 8:30pm - The new growths are looking pretty bright green and healthy which is a great sign leading up to flipping to 12/12. Pheno#2 (left) is still showing pretty heavy N toxicity (notice the clawing leaves all over) and Pheno#1(right) has a slightly higher tolerance to the high nutes of the Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil. These plants haven't been given any nutrients outside of the CalMag and recharge. Did some final LST, planning on watering tomorrow and then possibly defoliating again on Friday before flipping to 12/12 this weekend.
3/21/23 @ 10am - Both plants given 6 cups of the CalMag + RECHARGE campden water pH'd to 6.15.
3/22/23 @ 9:40pm - Both plants given a light defoliation and LST using my clips before we water once more on Friday and potentially flip to 12/12 this Sunday. I ordered a 2x4 ScrOG net from AC Infinity that I will be installing in the next few days.
3/24/23 @ 10:30am - Both plants were given a top dressing of our FF Ocean Forest soil to help root development during flower, I also setup the trellis net since I'll be flipping them Sunday. They were both given 6 cups of water pH'd to 6.25.
3/26/23 @ 2:45pm - Wow, today makes these girls 10 weeks old since planting the seeds on 1/15/23. I have removed the LST clips in preparation for flower since tonight will be the first 12 hour night. They'll get watered tomorrow with the full batch of RECHARGE, CalMag, and 1/5th of a Campden tablet. I plan on waiting for at least week 2, probably week 3 of flower to start giving any bloom (PK) nutes. Setup the dehumidifier just in-case and set my lights timer to 12/12 which makes tonight the start of flower. I don't think I'll be using the heater in the setup either to try to keep temps in the mid-lower 70's and high 60's at night. I have the max humidity set to 55% and lowest it'll drop to is 40%. They'll be getting watered tomorrow after noon, when the lights turn on.
3/27/23 @ 1:30pm - Plants given about 7 cups of campden + RECHARGE + CalMag water pH'd to 6.42. Last night was the first night of 12, today is the first day of 12.
3/30/23 @ 4pm - Plants looking pretty good, #2 still showing larger signs of N Toxicity than #1. Both given 1 L (4.2 cups) of campden water pH'd to 6.2
3/31/23 @ 1pm - I added some ducting to the bottom of my tent to act as an intake to help the air flow a bit better. I'll have to get a filter over to prevent bugs or anything sneaking int my tent but for now it seems like a good environment for the plants. I moved one of my clip fans above the trellis netting.
4/2/23 - Filter put on my intake vent. Both plants watered with campden + RECHARGE + CalMag water pH'd to 6.3. Day 7 of flower / Starting week 2 and they're both just showing their first wispy white pistils. I will start slowly adding bloom to the feeding schedule weekly starting next week. I moved the Trellis netting down a bit since they're not stretching too bad so far.
4/4/23 @ 12:30pm - Both plants given 7 cups of water with their firsts 1/2 dose of Bloom nutes from TPS, plus 1/5th of a campden tablet pH'd to 6.2. This is the fastest the soil has dried out before after only 48 hours they were completely dry. That's why I bumped up the amount of water both plants were given from the last few times. If they continue to dry out after only two days I'll keep upping the amount of water they get slowly each watering. Pheno #1 is popping through the trellis now and Pheno #2 is stretching more since it's shorter. Since they are so bushy I am thinking of defoliating sooner than the start of week three (4/9/23), maybe this Friday - we'll see. Smells are getting hazy smelling in the tent and no herming so far - fingers crossed lol - I am also going to be spraying both plants down right before lights out tonight with Earth's Ally 3-in-1 Organic Plant Spray as a pest / mold prevention measure.
4/5/23 @ 12:30pm - Both plants looking very nice after getting their pesticide spray down last night before lights out. I rotated the plants about 45 degrees to form boxes to help spread the tops out when they start weaving through the trellis.
4/6/23 @ 10:30pm - Checked on my girls before lights out and realized they were overdue for a defoliation. Took a decent off to open up some more bud sites and I am happy with how they look. I plan on letting them grow normally and just watering with bloom + recharge + CalMag going forward. I also completely adjusted my light setup, set it to 75% and moved the light down to 20" above the canopy to get a better PPFD reading.
4/7/23 @ 4pm - Both plants given 7 cups of Bloom + Campden water pH'd to 6.3. Should be on cruise for the remainder of the grow - just need to water whenever they're thirsty :)
4/9/23 @ 12pm - Both plants given 7 cups of Campden + Recharge + CalMag water pH'd to 6.2. Today is day 14 flower and officially starts week three.
4/11/23 @ 9pm - After a long day of trying to diagnose what was wrong with my plants, I discovered a Nitrogen deficiency in the lower leaves of pheno#2. Pheno#1 is less effected, as it didn't need to stretch as much so it probably has more N left in the soil, whereas 1 didn't. I'll be watering them tomorrow with a full dose of MegaCrop.
4/12/23 @ 12pm - Both plants given 7 cups of campden + 4 grams (1/2 tsp) MegaCrop + 1tsp of Recharge pH'd to 6.51. I cut off a couple of the extra yellow leaves and just a couple blocking new bud sites. I will closely monitor how the plants react to the extra boost of Nitrogen they seem to need.
4/13/23 @ 4pm - Both plants are looking much better even just after 24 hours of getting that Mega Crop. Seems like 7 cups every three days is their sweet spot for now but they are looking hungry. I will continue to closely monitor the lower leaves for deficiencies / toxicities. I didn't realize I had to raise my pH as the flowering started, it makes perfect sense.
4/15/23 @ 4:30pm - Both plants given 7 cups of campden water + 2 grams of Mega Crop pH'd to 6.47. Took a couple more lower popcorns sites off each plant yesterday and plan on just letting them grow since tomorrow is day 21. Buds are starting to develop first sugar leaves and trichome development has started.
4/16/23 @ 12:40pm - First signs of trichome development started, day 21. Buds starting to fatten up, lower leaves continuing to yellow but at a much slower rate.
4/18/23 @ 1:30pm - Both plants given 7 cups campden water + 3 grams Mega Crop + 1 TSP RECHARGE pH'd to 6.51
@ 11:30pm - I FIGURED IT OUT!!! THE PLANTS HAVE WIND BURN. Finally. I was so paranoid about not have ENOUGH airflow in my tent so the fans were cranked to 7/10. I lowered both to 4/10, and moved both up about 8". Shout out to this site for the perfect images: https://marijuanapackaging.com/blogs/how-to-guide/cannabis-wind-burns-how-to-identify-prevent-and-treat-them
4/21/23 @ 12:35pm - Happy post 4/20 everyone. Still getting some yellowing of the lower leaves and wilting. It is looking more like N deficiency vs Wind burn since I've adjusted the fans. Both plants given 7 cups of campden water + 6 grams (1 tsp) of MegaCrop. Bumping up the Mega Crop feeding until the leaves stop yellowing and wilting.
4/24/23 @ 12:30pm - We did something a little different today. Both plants given 1 gallon of campden water + 1 TSP RECHARGE + 1 TSP Mega Crop + 2 TSP Bloom. This should act like a flush of sorts but the water is loaded with nutes so hopefully this helps the plants turn more green.
4/26/23 @ 9pm - I checked on both plants tonight and the first inch or so of soil felt dry so I decided to water. pH'd 6.5 campden water + 1.75 tsp MegaCrop + 1 tsp Bloom + 1 tsp RECHARGE. 1.5 Gallons per plant. Still some yellowing and wilting but the leaves have straightened out since the
wind burn adjustments. Hopefully they uptake all these nutrients, the smells are getting incredible.
4/28/23 @ 2:30pm - Checked on the girls today and I am happy to report they're finally starting to turn back to a nice shade of green. The wind burnt leaves have either died off or recovered. The smells are getting very strong and all the colas are super sticky. Hoping to see some fattening up over the next 2-4 weeks until harvest time.
4/29/23 @ 6pm - Both plants given 1 gallon of campden water + 1/2 tsp MC (4 grams) + 3/4 TSP Bloom + 1/2 TSP RECHARGE pH'd to 6.5 - First pistils starting to turn amber!
5/2/23 @ 3:30pm - Both plants given 1 gallon of campden water + 2 grams of MC + 1.25 tsp Bloom + 1/2 tsp RECHARGE. Pheno#1 pH'd to 6.5, Pheno#2 pH'd to 6.45. Lowered the input EC now that the green has returned. The runoff EC for both plants was a bit high since I've been overfeeding since flower.
5/4/23 @ 1pm - Both plants are looking happier and healthier and actually look a touch overfed. I'll lower the MC feedings, and add CalMag to feedings. It's day 39 of flower, middle of week 5. Snipped a few per plant also to open up lower buds to the light. Buds are incredibly sticky and smell incredible. Citrus with a Gassy undertone and just a hint of Pine.
5/5/23 @12pm - Both plants given about 1.5 gallons of campden water + 1/2 tsp RECHARGE + 1/2 TSP Bloom + 1 TSP CalMag pH'd to 6.45 and EC from 600-800 since the soil EC is about 3000 each. Trying to lower it slowly without having to completely flush the soil. Will remeasure runoff after next feeding.
5/8/23 @ 12pm - Pheno#1 Input Feeding Water: 1tsp CalMag, 1tsp Bloom, 1/5 campden tablet - pH 6.42 - EC - 650. Output Runoff: pH 6.30 - EC - 2300. EC is coming down very nicely as predicted. I'll add MC back into the feeding and take out the CalMag for now. Fatter & denser looking buds so far, less ripe looking. Pheno#2 Input Feeding Water: 1tsp CalMag, 1tsp Bloom, 1/5 campden tablet - pH 6.48 - EC - 650. Output Runoff: pH 6.48 - EC - 1580. Taller and less dense colas, starting browning of pistils about a week earlier than it's sister. Both are incredibly sticky and stinky.
5/11/23 @ 12:30pm - Both plants given 1 gallon of campden water, 1 tsp CalMag, 1/2 tsp MC, and 1 tsp RECHARGE pH'd to 6.5. Both plants input EC about 1.45. Should be able to feed MC + Bloom + Recharge until harvest time.
5/14/23 @ 5:30pm - Both plants given 1 gallon of campden water, 1/2 TSP MegaCrop, 1 TSP Bloom, and 1/2 TSP RECHARGE pH'd to 6.5 and EC of about 1.3. Pheno#1 is fattening up perfectly, Pheno#2 has always had issues but growing narrower foxtail buds. Looking forward to harvest in a week.
5/17/23 @ 12:30pm - Both plants given 1 gallon campden water + 1/2 TSP MC + 1/2 TSP Bloom + 1/2 TSP RECHARGE pH'd to 6.5 - EC 1.2. Small defoliation yesterday with lights at 80% until we harvest Sunday.
5/19/23 @ 5pm - Damn these girls drinking. 1 gallon each, campden water + 1/2 TSP MC + 1/2 TSP Bloom pH'd to 6.55 - EC 1.2. Last watering/feeding, getting chopping Sunday afternoon. Should make for a solid first ever harvest :)
5/21/23 @ 2pm - Plants chopped and hanging in tent for 10-14 days at as close as I can get to 60/60.
5/25/23 @ 9pm - Plants have been hanging for a little over four days, the smallest branches are a touch drier than I'd like, but overall not bad. I think 3-6 more days before trimming and final weight :)
I've only smoked Pheno#2 thus far but it gives a really great head focused uplifting high. Two very different pheno's in terms of bud structure, we'll see if they smoke the same. Super super smooth after a 7 day dry at 67-70F/57-63 RH. No major issues growing, small plants though.
Ended up with 86 total grams, or just over 3 OZ, I predicted 2 OZ so I am pretty happy for my first grow. Can't wait to see what the future holds for me!
