Last grow of Skunk XL was a great succes! 735 grams of high quality flower which was enjoyed a lot.
This grow I want to see if i can improve either on quality or quantity.
Or you know... both Lets see how this grow goes!
First week of veg! They look amazing. Last grow of this genetics everybody that tried it was very impressed.
Hopefully we can keep the quality level the same. We're not feeding them just yet, as the soil has enough nutrients for now.
We just water when dry and let them start growing. We wanted four plants, so just to be sure we germinated five seeds.
So one unlucky lady will be removed later. Lets get this next grow started!
Sooooo... we f*cked up a bit. We were gone for a bit and didnt pay attention to the propagator tent.
Because they stood in very small containers they dried out and the ladies almost died.
All their bigger leaves crispt up and died, and the smaller leaves were also affected with crisp tips.
Luckily I came on time and I think we can bring this back. They got water and are reacting well.
Hopefully they'll make new leaves soon. Sorry ladies..
This week we really paid attention to the plants, making sure they dont dry out.
We removed all leaves that crisped up and made sure the environment is nicely warm and humid.
We also topped the plants and are planning next week t put them in slightly bigger pots.
Hopefully they will respond well and start growing rapidly:)
This week we transplanted the ladies in some bigger pots. After shedding some leaves they finally start getting better.
They start growing, and the topped shoots look very healthy. Some plants still have some burnt edges,
but we expect them to get replaced with healthy leaves soon. Everything is looking good.
We did plan on only growing four, and they all look very similar,
so choosing which one is going away will be hard. Till next update!
This week we pruned the plants quite heavy. All lower shoots that looked like they weren't going to make it to the top were pruned off.
We also defoiliated a little bit at the bottom and topped every single shoot growing upwards.
The plants are looking healthy and we can't wait to see how they develop.
We did underwater them a little bit again, but this time they didnt get damaged.
All looking bright for the future!
Another week has passed in the propagator. Its evident that the plants need nutrients and bigger pots.
Sadly the flowering tent is still in business due to some ladies not wanting to finish flowering.
They still look healthy but are starting to get some deficiencies.
Hopefully they wont suffer too much in their small space before they're placed in the bigger tent.
7the week in the propagator. We planned on pulling them out and planting them in the flowering tent to prepare them for flower by now,
but because the other plants havent finished up yet they're still stuck here.
At this point we usually start scrogging them and next week they would start flowering.
Hopefully after feeding they will start looking better and we hope the prolonged veg won't affect them too much in the flowering period later.
We'll see how fast we can get them in the right tent.
After accidentally drying out the plants AGAIN, they finally moved into the bigger tent and thus their bigger pots aswell.
They look really healthy. I LST'd the plants and bended them all outwards. Now they'll get a lot more light and hopefully
the open spaces in the tent will fill up nicely the coming weeks. We think we're gonna let them grow 2 more weeks before
putting them in the scrognet, but we'll see how they'll develop the coming days/weeks. Hopefully this grow will have a
better time then the previous one. We'll keep you updated!
Skipped a week but we are back! It took some time but the plants are starting to fill the tent up nicely.
There are no big spots without shoots anymore and the plants are looking very healthy.
In a few days we are probably going to put them in the scrognet to prepare them for flower. Stay tuned!
Exiting week! We scrogged the plants in preperation for flower and installed a new light: the Lumatek 600W 2.9.
We did this to prevent grows like our last one, where the nugs just would'nt fatten up. The plants are looking healthy,
and we are starting to get good coverage in the tent. we are going to do one more week of veg and then put the lightschedule to 1212.
Till next week!
One week after scrogging the tent is looking good. The new growlight is doing very well and the plants seem to thrive.
Theres a lot of new shoots developping and the tent is felling up a lot better due to the improved coverage of the growlight.
After making the pictures here we decided to switch to flowering stage and put the growlights on the 1212 schedule.
Till next week!
First week of Flower! The plants look healthy and are starting to stretch nicely.
The new Growlight gives off so much light that the plants are growing really quickly
and rebound beautifully after defoliating. We watered three times this week but much else didn't happen.
Update next week!
Week 2 of flower is finished and it's all looking good. The first white hairs started to appear.
We defoliated again so even the lower buds can enjoy the light. The plants are still looking
healthy and we are exited to see how the plants continue to grow:)
Week 3 of flower and the tent is looking really promising. Buds are forming everywhere,
and we've never seen this many white hairs appearing. The buds are golfballsized and
we are really exited to see how this tent is going to be developping. Next week we are
going to defoiliate the tent one more time, to give lower buds some more chance to
develop and after that it's just coasting till the end of flower! Till next week:)
We sadly messed up and forgot to take pictures last week, so this diary jumped from week 3 straight to week 5.
The good news however, is that the tent is looking amazing. The buds are looking really dense and are slowly starting
to swell up. Just like last time we grew this strain some of the leaves are showing some weird signs, but that is probably
just the plant maturing and getting close to the end of its life cycle. We're exited for the coming weeks and hopefully
the buds keep growing as they are doing now! :)
Another week went by smoothly. The nugs start getting some weight and they look as if they're becoming just as
dense as during the last grow. We didn't have to do much these final weeks, just watering when dry and letting the grow coast.
We'll update the diary next week!
Another week of nothing much. It is fun however to see the differences and similarities with this grow and the last SkunkXL grow.
Last grow was a bit more uniform, with every plant having similar nugs of similar size. This grow, the backleft plant has by far the
chunkiest and most dense nugs of the entire grow. The front right plant has long colas that are a bit more fluffy, and the other plants
are a bit inbetween. Hopefully all the plants catch up to the dense nugs that they were last grow.
We'll update next week!
This week disaster struck. While checking up on the buds we found butrot in most of the big nugs, even though the tent isn't fully ready yet.
So we harvested basically all the big nugs, and every nug that seemed to have mold. Everything that had mold had to go, but we could potentially
save some of the nugs that didnt seem affected. We'll have to see how they dry tho. After harvesting the biggest nugs the tent looked a bit less chunky,
but at least the budrot is gone. We'll try to give the tent one or 2 more weeks, but check up on budrot every day. Will also make thrichome shots soon.
See you in the next update!
Harvesting went smoothly. It was a shame to remove the top buds with the rot, but it seemed like there was still a big load coming out of the tent. I never measure the wet weight, so disregard the number. In a few weeks i'll weigh the nugs when their dry, and we'll give you an exact number of what we got out of the tent!
Cheers
