This I had to redesign and build a new grow bed, as the original planter I used started cracking finally after almost two years of aquaponic use, which after i originally built it, thought it wouldn’t last very long. Lol and as for the green crack, she is going along nicely roots hit the media bed beginning of the week so the fish will start feeding her, and I started a little supplementation to the dirt zone as well.
I think I’m having a little nitrogen toxicity right now,as the leaves are deep green and shiny and tips down, I think so to a combo of feeding her grow nutes, not realizing she was starting to flower, also the new grow bed involved removing a well established pepper plant, so I have a tomato plant who’s roots just hit the grow bed so it should start removing some N, and I’ve been feeding the fish less as well.
She looks pretty good this week, tied her down to keep her short, looks like she’s still suffering a little from too much nitrogen, but she’s coming around and looks pretty healthy all in all.
So, the last couple weeks she’s been struggling a little bit, I thought from nitrogen toxicity as the leaf tips were bent down and leaves were super dark, and I thought the lighter and spotted leaves as a cal/mag issue due to the excessive N , so I stopped feeding my fish all but just a little each day, to bring N down, but this week she really looks like she’s starving. So out of curiosity decide to pull her out of the grow bed and check on the root development, turns out due to a design flaw in my pot the roots haven’t even grown through the burlap and into the media bed, so essentially she was starving with just the little nutes/ water she gets in the top zone without having the aquarium feeding and watering as well 😢. So I have now fixed that an the roots should hopefully grow through this week and start feeding and drinking from the media bed 😃
So I decided this week that the roots aren’t going to find the growbed as intended, so I’ll be finishing it as a small soil grow, and I just germinated a new one to replace this one in the growbed.
Buds look fat and juicy, wish she got the aquaponic treatment, but the next one will be perfect, as I found a new pot that I think will be perfect, just transplanted the blue dream into one and the new green crack into another
Would have had another few grams, but it was raining here for like two weeks straight so humidity has been high, and the biggest bud got some mold. Got a dehumidifier and all is well now. I was hoping for more on this one but it never hit its roots in the media bed so it was essentially and compact dirt grow.
